One more week before I am free of work... at least for a bit.

I had a very good day at work yesterday.

My three new coworkers (people who literally started over the past month) surprised me by giving me a "Last Jedi" Kylo Ren shirt and since they had worn Star Wars shirts that day, they wanted me to put it on so we could all match.

Not kidding how incredibly happy this made me.

I got hammered last night.

Girlfriend wasn't too pleased, but it was one of my best friend's birthday party, and we had lots of fun drinking games to play and only so much time to do it all.

I love the rage cage.

So, the first person in my life to reach out to me over my absence (long story short, I cut myself off from most everybody) is someone who I wasn't even sure cared about my existence, so that was really neat.

Now if they could only do that for the rest of the bill.

Starting the transfer process for work. Picked up boxes to start some packing... gonna need to get boxes with handles for books, though. I've learned THAT lesson.

Found a good solution for getting the second car to California (yay!)

And.... it's almost October! Halloween mode is already activated!

Okay well the anesthesia bill was looking like $945, but thankfully my insurance did do some adjustments after all and I only owe $100 something... phew. Good news.

Still owe a ton to the hospital though.

I do martial arts.

In martial arts, sometimes we spar.

We sparred.

I got a lot of solid leg kicks (at 30%-40% power).

The other guy took exception to this, got mad, and hit me with a 100% haymaker (you are only supposed to go around 30%).

I ate the haymaker and almost got knocked out. I got a nice shiner to show for it.

You might be wondering how this qualifies as "happy".

As it turns out, I learned last night that I'm as tough as nails, and can take a hell of a punch.

Still no pain.

I feel proud of my tolerance.

Happy that Mom is cancer-free!

Happy that I got to see lots of friends recently (even if so many days in a row socializing took a lot out of me.)

Happy I got to go to Universal and do all the things in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter for the first time, especially with friends.

I was born here and have lived here all my life, granted with A LOT of help from my parents.

Still, we're so surrounded by transplants, which is what's knocking the prices up so high. It's to the point that most people you encounter in L.A., itself, are from somewhere else (and I'm not talking Mexico or China.)

So, keeping on topic...

I'm happy Hawaiian Day went over so well at my center.

Happy both "Game of Thrones" and "Rick and Morty" are both back on. Sunday's the best night of the week.

Happy Mom and I spent the day at the Huntington together.

Happy my pumpkins have done well growing in the community garden.

Happy that when Tiki went missing for a little while, she came home.

Happy I was able to help a boy with heat exhaustion at Old Fort MacArthur Days.

Happy we got to spend time with family in Arizona (even if the temp was in the 120s.)

Yeah... I don't really understand the cost of living on either coast.

I've lived on both coasts of the US, and from my limited experience, living on the West (where I presently live), is so much more expensive. By moving in, we're saving enough money that I'll probably be able to get my own car (presently we just have the one vehicle) by the middle of next year, possibly.

Living on the East is still plenty expensive, but in general, with the economy... I'd probably consider moving in even if our finances weren't starting to look dicey, since it's just short-term.

When I move back next year I am going to be staying with family until I get on my feet... much for the same reason... rent isn't cheap.
