Between the two, I think Harris stands a better chance of filling the shoes Jerry Brown is departing for the governor's seat.
Brown was pretty tough. |

With the Harris vs Cooley race... it is super close and I am unsure who I would rather have win. Cooley did good, but then again I don't know much about Harris and she seems to be really popular... and I lean to her because she is a dem... but yeah, dunno. |

Heh, you get to move into a swing voting state the politicians will visit more and make more promises to. I think I'd rather live there than the other two, though (Florida and Ohio).
Sorry, Hannelore, if I come off bossy. |

I also join the crowd annoyed that Prop 21 failed. People just don't care about our parks.
I checked in on the Pennsylvania elections... guys... what the fuck happened over there? |

I was using this site, it says semi-official results, but whatever. I just searched for California 2010 election results, and that was one of the first links to pop up. |

Yeah, those are the numbers I've seen from the SF Gate, but I've also been checking the Secretary of State's website, which the media uses as the official count (it actually crashed and was down most of election night so they were mostly guessing, at least down here in L.A. they were).
The race for attorney general has Harris at 45.9% and Cooley at 45.7%. Here's hoping the absentees come through. |

Originally posted by Rogue I voted for Harris too. On the site, it looks like she's winning though. She has like 54% of the vote of something. |

Originally posted by Hannelore the Great Me too! I voted yes on that and I'm pretty upset that it didn't go through. We need to save our parks and beaches. And seriously $18 for a registration fee and you'll get FREE admission to these places? That's a freaking bargain! Then again I'm sure most of the people who voted don't bother with going hiking or enjoying nature. I hope they get the money some other way. And they are indeed still counting absentees. The race for attorney general is still too close to call. Steve Cooley's claiming victory, but all other places I've checked said it was Harris. She had my vote. I hope she wins. |

E- On closer inspection, all the people I voted for Statewide won, and hardly any of the measures I voted for ended up how I wanted them. I'm surprised people voted against Prop 21. Very surprised, and really upset. Grrrr. Still dunno if my county stuff is all finished. I think they're still counting absentee ballots. |

Originally posted by Cairoi I have been on a personal crusade for this. I just recently registered to vote, mainly because I just felt like an ass not doing it, but...there's still quite a bit I don't understand. And that's one of the faults of youth. Excitement and jumping in headfirst can be awesome at times, but...I don't know left from right when it comes to politics, and I need to change that. I voted and my guy lost, but ehh...I really wasn't too keen on the vote anyways. Because I'm not indifferent to the vote. I just don't get it yet and I think knowingly misusing my right is just a terrible thing to do. **shrugs** It was just funny that I wasn't approached by the annoying people at the corners downtown. It's ridiculous, but most of the people in California who probably voted on Prop 19, only voted on that specific part of the ballot. None of them really cared about the other issues or what elected officials were better. They ignored the really important parts of voting and just check Yes on Prop 19 and turned in their ballots. I hate newly made adults who only care about not getting fined for lighting up. Ugh! |

Basically, our generation is the one that's going to have to pull the world back up from the ground, and however we do it, it's going to be with responsibility and hard work. If we just succumb to indifference, we're dooming ourselves and generations after us to a truly terrible state of the world.
Educate yourselves. It should be one of the most important things in your lives. |

Originally posted by High Chancellor Cairoius Tell me about it, on all counts. Thankfully just about everyone I voted for in California won. Take that, billionaire corporate people trying to buy your ways into the governor's seat and Senate. I can't believe the GOP got the House. I was watching Fox last night and they were SOOOO self-congratulatory, and yet when they started talking about California they got REALLY solemn as though someone had died. What gets me is that this doesn't so much come off as people "rejecting" Obama so much as the fact that the people who suddenly rose up and voted in record numbers in 2008 (the YOUNG people) didn't do it this year. Thank you, the rest of you who voted. Like I said, I don't care how you vote, just that you get your voice in that (even if it seems like it's overshadowed by assholes yelling and screaming). I'm sick of the older generation making all the decisions because the blue-haired old ladies who want to extend retiring age, outlaw gay marriage and abortion, deny funds to the poor, hungry and unemployed, chop down every tree and give tax breaks to every corporation and oil company are making it to the polls every election, oxygen tank in tow, and yet the able-bodied, opinionated youth don't care enough to try to save the things they care about by marking a dot on a piece of paper. |

I voted yesterday morning. I vote democratic.
It didn't took me long for my voting decision. |

I voted. Apparently everyone I voted for lost.
This sucks. The next two years nothing's going to get done. Complete and utter deadlock. Also, this thread is ridiculously disheartening. |
