Yep, it is utterly pointless.
I am also waiting to see just what the Netherlands does as a result of this. They had several citizens on that flight and they are not happy from what I have heard. |

Regardless of who shot it down... there really isn't much benefit to either cause. And that's the worst part, it's not like shooting the plane down was a huge pivotal move, it was more like "hey, let's try shooting the plane down and blaming it on someone, see if that gets us anywhere", and finally all we get is more confusion and hundreds of dead people who were minding their own business.

The more I listen to the news on this, the more the little conspiracy theory portion of my brain is pushing the idea that all of this was really the actions of Russia... use the fake Ukrainian rebel members (i.e. the totally obvious Russian soldiers in plain clothes) to do all this, make it look like the rebels are uncontrollable until the rest of the world practically invites Russia to invade Crimea and take over the region to bring stability.
But it's too crazy to be true... right? |

Yeah the jokes and well the situation itself... is just utterly disgusting to me. 
I hope this doesn't escalate to more problems, but it's seriously a huge offense and so messed up. Ugh. |

Yeah, it's majority reported it was shot down now. Seems like the loudest voices are saying it was Ukrainian rebels with a missile launcher, but who knows? It could still have been someone else trying to make it look like that.
It's amazing how quickly people have started making terrible jokes about it. I can see the value in gallows humor, but there's a time and place for this sort of thing and I can't help but think of my parents and their world travels lately and think about how easily this could have happened to people we love. At least Stephen Colbert knows how to address the topic properly on a comedic show. |

Latest reports indicate that it was shot down, they just can't determine if it was Russia or Ukraine (or unofficial Russian forces in Ukraine posing as separatists). Hold on to your hats, folks, this could get ugly.
It totally sucks for the people on the flight and their families... and it really sucks for Malaysian Airlines. Poor company just can't catch a break, now can they? |

I'm not going to bother posting a source. A plane, traveling from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur went down in Ukraine. Reports at the moment are conflicting on whether it crashed or was shot down. I'm rather devastated. I keep imagining these people's families upset. I went through this with the Korean ferry. |
