Wow... uhm... that's unfortunate.

There are several IMAX theaters here. One of the more frequented is the Irvine Spectrum.

One of the best noted theaters is the Arclight in Hollywood. They have a sound system that could beat any other theater and is the most ideal place to see any blockbuster.

Superman is visually stunning enough that I think it would be worth it to see it at the Arclight.

well, I didnt get to see superman in Imax

my mom drove me and my friend all the way to SF, which took almost 2 hours, then something went wrong with her brakes, so we had to go back. Then she said to make it up to us she would rent us a game, but then she changed her mind. I felt so toyed with that day...

O and then later that day I returned a game I had bought the previous day, Gauntlet: Seven Sorrows, because we beat it in one fucking night. I got Star Wars Jedi Academy, and Deus Ex: Invisible war. When I popped in Star Wars, it didn't work, because there was tons of shit on the disc. I felt so toyed with again. I felt like a toy that had broken, so they threw it away, then while I was at the dump, a hobo found me and used me as a sex toy. Thats right, I felt like a hobo's love toy...

And back on subject, there is an Imax here in L.A. (im visiting my grandparents) so I'll prolly see it there.

Her sn is Beattrixxx Kiddo. I shoulda known....

Yeah, that's the way I am. I like to see some conflict, whether it be internal or physical that troubles the hero.

She's like "Well, his disguise is Clark Kent. He really is superman. Unlike Batman who wears a disguise to be a superhero. Superman is unique."

So I say: "Oh...yeah. That makes him unique. Even though mos t of the Xmen have to disguise themselves to fit in." And we keep it going from there.

She stole her argument from Kill Bill Volume 2.

It's what Bill said to explain why Beattrix Kiddo shouldn't hide who she is.

Anyway, yeah, the X-Men have to hide who they are too. Supes is nothing special on that front.

But back to my previous argument, it's not necessarily the angst that I was saying made a character more interesting, but it's one of many reasons why people prefer heroes who aren't perfect or completely invincible.

We like to see someone fight to the finish, fighting tooth and nail with every breath. But with Superman, hell... he can just stand there, yawn and then maybe take out the bad guy when he feels like it. How interesting is that. It's like watching a baseball game where the pitcher threw nothing but no-hitters.

There's no fun in that. Then again, not many people are into baseball any more.

I don't know, I mean ... I like 500 Superhero's more than Superman. But like you said, he is somewhat the poster boy of superhero's. And that's kind of the reason why I like him a bit.

It's just like "Well, I kind of have to like him. He's the original, he's been around for longer than others. And just an example of a classic simple hero."

My opinion still stands on this movie however, I thought it rocked. I don't worship Superman, but looking at it as just another movie, it was solid.

More enjoyable than X3 is you ask me ...

But Batman Begins? Nothing has even come close to beating that movie out in my opinion. But, we will see if that remains true when Spiderman 3 comes out ... (I can't put into words how excited I am).

It's not the angst i'm attracted too....(I hate Sasuke so that can't be it.) It's more of the substance. I want to see more than one side of a super hero. Especially if they're overpowered and have virtually no weakness except a slight allergy to an obscure crystal.

My friend and I got in an argument over him. (Haha, mature right?) She said he's unique. I said he's the poster boy of all superheroes, he's far from unique.

Heh, it's funny you should voice your dislike for Superman. I was doing a little looking into Superman's shrinking popularity, and I've noticed that the more tortured, angst-ridden, dysfunctional the hero, the more people love him. Supes is just too perfect. Nothing hurts him (expect kryptonite, but hey he always seems to find a way around that).

It's like the arguments people had with Hellsing. OK, nothing hurts Alucard. Booooooring.

Just look at the old Superman cartoons: There's trouble. Lois finds said trouble. Superman saves Lois and subsequently the world along with her. Everyone says, "Thank you, Superman!"

It's all the same and people don't like that. People don't like that the man of steel just isn't human enough. Then again, there are always those people who'll back a winner.

I saw it last night. Not at the I max like I wanted to... The movie was okay at best. The action was good, but then again it's hard to eff that up. I wasn't impressed with anything though. As I said I don't like super man. And this movie went ahead with everything I don't like about him. He's one dimensional. He had no character development what-so-ever. Super hero movies like batman begins, spiderman, even xmen had at least some. Hell, even Daredevil did.

You can't tell by my comment that I've seen it.

I feel sad all of a sudden.

Anyway, my favorite part would have to be him saving the plane with Lois in it.

I think it's well-worth seeing. So there.

I think we can expect to see that actor in future movies however. He did an excellent job and fit the role perfectly.

So I take it I'm the only one who actually saw this? ...

Yes, because if he acts bad in superman, they can always say that it was just the script writers fault...because it's superman and he has some DAMN cheesy lines.

Rogue: Yeah yeah yeah. Like I've told most of my friends, you can argue that its cheesy, but its still great. You just can't take it totally serious. The Clark / Superman disappearing at the same time thing did kind of bother me though. But the way people can't tell them apart, just kind of brings me a chuckle.

I thought the new actor for Superman did a fantastic job though.

I really liked the first half of it. The second half sort of dragged, but it was still speckled with little moments that still make you go, "Yeah, you did it, Superman!"

This was really one big nostalgia movie, and it really tugged at the heartstrings at various points for me. I liked the Marlon Brando archive footage.

I also really liked Kevin Spacey. He wasn't your typical idea of Lex Luther, but his new Se7en psychotic spin was pretty refreshing. Parker Posey made for a pretty good foil to him.

Spoiler:
When Lois walked onto the boat with Jason and came across Lex while he was brushing his teeth, I turned and joked with Zoso's friend that at least she didn't walk in on him doing the first scene from American Beauty, in which Kevin Spacey's character is jerking off in the shower.

A couple little goofs, I wondered about: How is it that everyone on the plane came off with their hair looking like, well, they were just involved in a plane crash, but Lois, who was fuckin' flying all around the plane, her hair looked immaculate when she stood up to look at Superman?

It's funny that nobody notices when Clark Kent and Superman disappeared at the EXACT same time and came back at the EXACT same time.

But for the skeptics that need to know why Lois is too stupid to notice Clark Kent is Superman, you're missing that Superman has that sleeked back hair with the single curl, while Clark Kent has his hair parted like a Kansass boy. See... MAJOR difference! Do they keep hair gel in those phone booths?

And another thing... Lois left Superman... for CYCLOPS!!! Ahahahahahahaha!!!

Now that's one flippin' weird Marvel/DC-crossover.

Sorry Kaze. I was on my phone, I thought it read Aden not Azen. My bad.

From what I read, there are only 20minutes of actual 3D effects at the Imax. Which isn't that bad, it's better than nothing.
