| The next book of Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series will be released on November 3, 2009 as reported by Amazon and the publishers. The 12th book was supposed to be the last book in the series, but it looks like it will be split into three because it would just be too large. The title will also face a change because of this. The last book is titled A Memory of Light, but book twelve will be known as The Gathering Storm. Originally they were going to combine the two titles but Tor publishing felt that might confuse people, so while the last three books will collectively be referred to as A Memory of Light, the books will be published by their individual titles without it.
Honestly, I have been waiting so long for this. While it is annoying that they are splitting it into three I am glad at the same time because there really was no way to get all of the story left into one book. They estimate that it will be about 700,000 words at the finish, and if they hadn't split it not only would the release be pushed back to 2011 but it would have been so big that they probably couldn't publish it. They decided to do a three part split in order to meet the original November 2009 deadline. No word yet on the release date of the next two installments. |
