| Well, I don't know where else to post this, but here is more appropriate than anywhere else. In any case, I suppose I shall start with a side story that plays a relevant part.
My mom's friend dated a guy a several months ago. They were happy and all that jazz. Well, one day he gets arrested, my mom's friend having no idea why. It turns out that he was more or less the kingpin of all drug trafficking in Philadelphia. He was in charge of all of it, and had personally killed a lot of people. His girlfriend said that he was always saying that people owed him money, but on a casual basis. She never asked any further. Well, when he was arrested, he confessed to everything (as they had three years worth of evidence on him) and gave the feds every name that worked for him. The next day, he took the laces from his shoes and strangled himself by tying them around the cell sink and his neck and pulling forward. Now, to the next part. I haven't been to the gym in a while. My surgery required me to rest and take it easy, which is what I did. I've started going back, trying to lose the weight I put on and get back in shape. For cardio, I used to play racquetball all of the time. From playing, I met this guy named Jesus. He was in his mid-twenties, but it didn't really matter. We became friends rather quickly and started playing all the time when he was around. We called each other 'The Youth' as a joke because we were the youngest people playing racquetball in the gym. Well, I haven't seen him sine I started going back, but I just thought that he stopped coming to the gym or moved. Not a big deal. Today, however, I found out the truth. Jesus was only his middle name, but he had been committing fraud for several years. The government had been after him for a long time, apparently, and finally caught up to him. It turns out that he was working for my mom's friend's boyfriend, and when he spilled all of the names, his was one of them. He found out that the police were on their way to arrest him, and went to his car. He posted something on facebook, apparently. Some Jay-Z lyrics or something. And then he shot himself in the head. I feel cheated, in a way. He was my friend, and that wasn't fake. But at the same time, he lied. He was a murderer and a drug dealer. I never even knew his real name. So on one hand, I'm upset that I lost a friend, and on another, I feel like I didn't even know him. All throughout this, I can't help but think of one thing. The day before my surgery, we played two games at the gym. He won the first one and I won the second. He had to go somewhere after the second game, and he said that we'd play a tiebreaker once I got back. So in a way, that's my memoriam to him. We never got to finish our game. Tied forever. |

Maybe you did know the real Jesus, Phoenix. He was just a guy who liked to have fun and play raquetball, and treated that darker side of him as a way to get by. He wasn't trying to lie to you. I know what you mean, though. Of course he wouldn't tell me that he was some guy killing people for drugs and money. Especially if he was going under a fake name. It's still just such a shock to me, knowing he was like that. But you're right. I should think about the Jesus I knew and not the one he was at other times. Like you said, he may have hated it and done all of it to be alive in the first place. I don't know. Regardless of all the stuff I know now, I'm glad I got to know him. He was a good friend. |

| Well, I first have to say that I am sorry for your loss. No matter who they were, it is never fun to lose a friend. It is good that you knew the side of him that you did, I am sure that is the side that he preferred to be. Have you talked to any members of his family or anything? | |||

| I never knew any members of his family. Apparently, his funeral was a couple weeks ago. I wish I could have been there.
I am glad that I knew the side I did, as well. He was a good guy. |
