Tamarin: I didn't flame you.... I told you to eat a dick.... very on topic for this thread

I tired of not being able to disagree with something.... as if because I think it's wrong and immoral that I'm insane or mentally retarded....

and so what about taxes? the tax laws could be altered to work around that. All the laws pertaining to marriage could be changed to handle 3+ couples.

...What?

Anyway, Vulkar. It's right-wing idiots like you taht I actually like. Because you're not an idiot. You have your views, but you are also able to see the other side of the argument. That's how i am, only I'm more on the liberal side, I think.

As resident gay man that skipped over the entire forum, and only read Rogue's post, I'd have to say I've never laughed harder in my life. No, wait, that's a lie. I laugh at stupid people all the time.

This is just the perfect example of idiocy and hypocracy. And, I'm sleepy. I don't oppose gay marriage. I'm not for gay marriage. I think it's a social stigma that needs to be squashed. Why do "straight" things need to be imposed on us to make us normal? Isn't my ability to cut off a fucking SUV because it almost ran me off the road enough to make me normal?

Oh, wait, I can't be normal. I want to be different and happy.

i'd have'ta say that if anyone really wants to be involved in this debate, they'd either have an education equivalent to the first grade, or at least maturity of an adult.

with that being said.... i dont seriously see what polygamy has anything to do with this. i mean, if gays were allowed to get married, to what effect would it have on multiple marriage? straight ppl get married all the time. it's not as if homosexualism has anything to do with being more sexual or wanting more partners than a straight person. any debate in gay marriage and polygamy should be avoided.

now back to what rogue said... yeah, if we do allow gay marriage, it might actually open up a can of worms. gay marriage is sort of the final frontier for conservatives. so yeah, if it's legalized, there's going to be those who will want to marry their pets or what have you. it shouldnt be used as a valid point against gay marriage, but it is a concern.

now all opinions aside... let's get back to reality. supposibly the church is the thing that grants marriages, ie that guy who says you may kiss the bride/groom. now, there's also judges and the likes who can preform marriages. if gays were alllowed to get married... obviously, they wouldnt/couldnt get married in a church. they'd have to go to a judge and what have you. our courts today are already swamped. if we add more work load to our judges, the system will suffer. in order to balance this, we'd have to invent something else other than a judge. also, divorced rates are high as it is, adding more eligible citizens will not only add fuel, but may perhaps destroy the entire justice system. seriously, it wouldnt destroy it, but you have to admit, our courts are filled as it is. it's sad that this could be a reason, but again, it's not a very strong, or legal excuse to not allow other ppl to get married.

anyways, then there's the other side, like on 'drawn together,' fake gay marriages so you'd get a tax break with your buddy. yeah...

anyways, i'm not trying to say nuffin, i'm just adding another twist to this debate.

*In steps the full mod*

I'm siding with Tamarin on this Geeogree. Your views aside, what you said was inappropriate and flaming a staff member... as well as totally immature. This is a warning, Don't do it again.

Now, all that aside. The topics of gay marriage, polygamy, and beastiality are three seperate topics. The whole concept of "if we allow gays to marry then people will want to marry their pets next" is one of the most perfect examples of a slippery slope fallacy that I have ever seen (I got an A in my Logic class and my favorite subject was fallacies, do you really want to try and disprove me?). There is NO direct corellation at all... or even a little. Gay people are human, so how does the family dog get brought into this? As said before, homosexuality has been around since ancient times. The Greeks did it, the Romans did it, hell there is heiroglyphic evidence that the Egyptians did it! If it has been there for so long how is it unnatural?

It shows up in the animal kingdom as well. Even in the wild there are animals that show homosexual behavior. Why is this? Think about it, it is a form of population control. Especially in humans, who are producing so damned much that we are running out of room. It is one of natures ways of keeping our numbers down. Disease doesn't work well anymore due to medicine and vaccines. Weather is counteracted by air conditioning, rationing, heaters, etc. Homosexuality in the species is the best natural method of population control that is left, and thus why it is more prevailant now than before.

[stares].... I think the staff needs a lesson on what flaming actually is....

and population control? not likely.... so 1% of the population stops having kids.... so instead of 1 billion children it's 900 million...

that won't stop much

avatar: it's the fact that a VERY small group can force the government to change that law to get what they want.... when that majority in the country was opposed to it (Canada).... and the Liberal government up here ignored the people and did what they wanted to instead.

there are very small groups of poligamists in Canada, that want the right to be able to do this.... where's the justification against it? can someone give me a good reason why they can't marry more than 1 person if a man can marry a man?

and YES, I'm going to bring this up again.

I never said you can't.... I've said over and over that I disagree with it and that if I had my way I wouldn't want it to happen. But the law has changed and it is now legal. There isn't much I can do about it. I do retain my right to disagree with it, just like I disagree with smoking and alcohol being legal.

Well, I just dont actually see the point in wanting to marry multiple Men and women, but the topic at hand here is Gay marrage. Most of my uncles are gay however believe it or not they do not want to have a wedding. Sounds hard to believe, but most of the gay people that I know dont wish to be married under a chapel with another male or female. Im taking it because it would probially become well known throught the area and it would invade their privacy or something, I dunno...

I wouldent exactly support gay marrages, but I wouldent protest in the matter either...

And who needs a lesson in flaming? I was just correcting somebody...

last i heard, i thought we were talking about america. and if you want to use "facts" you'd at least have to show me a link or article about this supposed event, otherwise it doesnt mean anything. and again, that's canada, a majority vote is how our system works down here.

I never understood why gay marrige is wrong. I know several people that are not straight (I don't like saying gay or queer or anything. It just doesn't sound right) and there perfectly find. And when people say is "unnatural" isn't love a natural thing? So they chose another sex, big whoop.

OK, it's time to clear up a few things seeing as some of you haven't even bothered to read the first post and just based what you wrote off the title.

The title is meant to be ironic. If you actually read the first post, you will discover that it's actually showing how flawed many ways people justify their bigotry and discrimination is. It's NOT actally against gay marriage.

OK?

Honestly, I think people overreact when it comes to this argument. My opinion, love is one's personal buisness. And I was laughing as I read the first post. I don't see how this whole argument rose up. Guys, calm down. Rogue was joking. If you think gay marrige is wrong, that's your opinion. And hell if I care, I can't change it.

And Avatar of Law, the bible doesn't "say" anything. It's a book. People who read it are the ones saying it.

Geeogree - DROP IT. This thread is about GAY MARRIAGE and gay marriage only. If you want to start a thread about polygomy, fine. Do it. Stay on topic.

Tamarin Calanis and Elara (not so much you, hun) - I suggest taking this to PM to avoid public flamming.

I won't hesitate to report this to Xeoboss if it keeps getting out of hand.

Avatar ov Law - The Bible can literally be twisted to make anything sound like it was written in the Holy Word if we wanted to. I could most likely prove that the Bible says it's OK to commit murder. I know you were being sarcastic, but I felt I should point that out.

AND! Yes, this was started as a "joke," really, but because of the type of topic it is, it has turned into an actual debate. Since it's on topic, fine. But don't start bashing people left and right. Keep religion bashing to a minimum, please. I'm not religios, but still, some things can be offensive.

Seriously everyone, Geeogree is on topic. He is saying the Gay marriage will lead to polygamy being legal. How is that off topic?

Anyway, about it being unnatural...

As it happens, my mom once dated a person. He was perfectly straight, and was a bit too much into women. Right now, he is gay. If it were natural, would he not already be gay before?

There are many more examples like this that I have heard first accounts from. So, if this is so, exactly why is this person not gay from the begining, or at least before he was in his twenties?

Maybe he was gay before, Vulkar. Some people are afraid to admit it at first. If he was "TOO much into women," that's not an uncommon sign.

That's where the term "coming out of the closet" comes from. You hide it for a while, but then you're tired of not being yourself.

In any case. I don't think anyone has any right to tell someone who they can and cannot get married to. Vulkar. You can't marry someone with the same skin tone as you. Or the same hair color. Why? Because it's too creepy!

I knew a gay couple that were very much in love. They got married. And you should have seen them together. We went to visit, and Tyson was sitting on the floor, talking to us. Kevin came in from the kitchen and leaned over and started massaging Tyson's shoulders while they talked to us. Just something so simple as a shoulder massage showed that their love was a real love. It shouldn't matter WHY homosexuality exists. The point is, it does. Some gays may not be in love when they get married to each other... but then again, neither is the 20 year old slut that's marrying that 90 year old rich bastard. Love doesn't always equal marriage. But for those that are in love - there should be nothing stopping them. I would marry my fiance even if he was female. I love him. We just... fit.
