It is actually very easy to use nearly all of the D&D stuff if you look under the Open Gaming License. It's how a lot of stuff gets put out there.

Also, I don't know if it would be of use to you at all, but I am very knowledgeable about D&D 3.5 (RPGA license DM), and would be more than happy to help out with anything you'd need.

Unfortunately, this project has been on hold since the last update due to college sucking hardcore and job searching. The game's character creation/battle engine that I use will be determined later. As of now, it is a custom system that my brother and I jointly developed in early 2002. The rest of the engine is more or less developed as I want it. Some things are left to be desired. When I start working on it again, I'll let you all know.

Honestly, I don't think that White Wolf is as willing to share their system as Wizards of the Coast is. Also, 3.5 is quite versatile and in my opinion more so than WoD, at least from my experiences. Not that I don't like WoD games.

EPIC YEAR BUMP!

Anyway...I haven't forgotten about this thing.

I've been working on it on and off over the last year. I had problems with copyright issues, so I stopped for a long time. I started this back up again last week with the thought that I should just bite the bullet and make my own system. I now have a character system with stats and stuff, but I haven't gotten to battle mechanics yet.

Since I'm making this on my own, it will start off as a simple arena battle thing. It'll be very basic and probably not all that great. BUT, I'll keep working on it until I get that down perfectly, then I'll start making an rpg style thing to go with it.

I've got some big plans for this...thing...and this time, I have the knowledge AND the ability to follow through with the plans. I expect alpha testing to start in a month or less. I'll post again when that happens.

PS: I still lurk Xeogaming at least once each week, usually every day except Sundays.
PPS: I'm also planing a re-write of ACMLM with an updater to make any ACMLM data compatible with it. But, that's another topic for another time.

Its nice to see that someone is still interested in this. I may call upon the community for artistic assistance in the future (for graphics and what-not), but for now, I'm doing text based only. =[

Yeah, I'm allowed to be excited. I actually got a team together to make a battling system like this a few years ago, but thanks to a bit of drama, everything fell apart soon after we made the battle system.

It was a really cool idea though, with animations, pets, various upgrades, etc.

Good Golly! Magic systems are HARD to balance! I'm glad I hired my brother to help me with this crazy stuff. He is essentially doing the entire engine while I work on the website. We collaborate on the engine, but he's doing a lot of the leg work. He's got experience in GURPS, Tri-Stat, D&D 3/3.5/4, and a few other RPG systems.

Anyway, we have character creation ready. We're working on the magic system now. Then we need to do skill trees and items. Alpha testing of the full engine won't be for months, but we plan to start character creation and balance testing this weekend-ish.

PS: The only version I have so far is very much standalone only. When I get it stable enough, I'll make a port for Xeogaming. I'm thinking a release to Xeogaming in spring 2011 is well within possibility. Expect more news here every so often



Can't post again for some reason... should be able to after 24 hours, unless Xeogaming's code is different from what I remember...


so, Dreamweaver crashed on me and destroyed one of the very important files - character creation. The whole 800 line file was wiped. I had copied the code to the clipboard a few seconds before it crashed, but apparently Dreamweaver either didn't copy it or cleared my clipboard. Its all gone. 3 days of hard work is gone.

needless to say, I'm really pissed. I expect it will take me nearly 3 more days to get the code back to what it should be.

Latest update on Project: BOSS: I thought I'd give Xeogaming a bit of a preview to show that I have actual progress! We are now in early alpha testing! YAY!

This preview shows 2 of my characters right after creating them as seen by another player (non-admin). All the links at the top work.

Character creation is easy and includes multiple classes, male and female pictures for each class, optional random name generation, and random rolls for stats with re-rolls allowed during creation. The character system works well so far, and stats will be difficult to max out, since it will take hundreds of levels to get enough points to max out one stat, let alone all 7. We're working on skills (aka abilities, weapon feats, spells, and such all in one little package) right now.

Also, 5 lucky Xeogaming members will be chosen to help test the system when the battle system is ready. I'll be updating weekly on Wednesdays.

But seriously, some boards in the past had Battle System/Arena things on them. You may have seen the shop (which I'm guessing LA may completely replace as that one is so old and kind of useless?), but yeah. Basically the plan is to simply make you all 10x more addicted to the board.

I remember the old old old system xeogaming had like...years back. I think it was in MoD and MoB for about a week.
