Does anyone else play this insanely addicting game? If you've never heard of it, check out the official site, wiki and the reddit page for it:

MineCraft.net
MineCraft Wiki
Reddit MineCraft

Also, I'm thinking of making a server. If anyone is interested, I'll post the IP for the server here.

--------

I got this game yesterday and played from 10am till 3am with barely 2 hours break. Its just so freaking addicting! I'm going to try to limit my minecrafting today so I can get some work done on Project: BOSS...but that may not happen. XD

I've been trying to get a server set up for a clan (of sorts) that I'm part of.

But on account of a shitty computer I haven't had much luck.

So if you don't mind, I might see about inviting them over too. They're reasonable people... under threat of having their constructions flooded with lava. And it'll give us more people.

Edit: Although I do have another idea. Hmmmmmm.

I've had a blast with how much Minecraft I've played but I really haven't gotten too far into it. I'd be willing to buy it if I had the money, though!

Alright, having done a small amount of research and finding a host (paid on a per-slot basis, however)...

How interested would you all be in an RP server? Shared with a few other groups I know (aforementioned clan and a few people from Jul possibly) - only one house per day will be flooded by lava, don't worry!

Details can be worked out, but I'm willing to have one area set aside for non-RP megaconstructions and another for general mayhem, should the desire be there.

Basically I'm asking in advance so I know how many slots to go for when I have the money to spare.

Edit: Bitmap, try removing your installation folder (C:/Documents and Settings/Owner/Application Data/.minecraft in XP by default), redownloading the client, and trying again. I've heard of that issue coming up, and doing one or the other usually fixes it - both almost certainly should.

Uh... first off, damn you're fast. Second, it was one of the links on the Reddit page you linked!

The first one on the page even!

I'm expecting to use hey0's mod, particularly if the plugins for Local and configurable Group chats are enabled.

Edit: They're currently sold out, but that's not really a problem on account of the fact that I don't have the money right now.

wow...not too bad for the price. Also, I'm in chat, so I see the updates quickly.

I haven't been on the reddit page very much...too much else to do v_v

I'll have to look up hey0's mod, though.

That server I mentioned?

Going to be an RP server.

Here's a little background info, written by Kazinsal and myself. Server will be open shortly after the Halloween update.

Also conveniently through a friend we've found a free hosting option. Still need to test how it handles a load of players though...

A Short History of Cordilon

Before Cordilon, the world was populated by millions of people spread throughout numerous warring kingdoms and empires. The largest three were Axcenas, Pereblia, and Magmera, a trio which had been at total war for countless generations. The only thing that united the humans of the world was their belief in a single history: the gods created the world and created the life on it, and simply stood back and watched, never interfering.

The gods, however, were displeased with the never-ending conflict between humans, but were unable to impede the free will they had given humanity. And so, with no way to directly tell the human kingdoms to cease their hostilities, they were left with one last choice in desperation.

A catastrophic event occurred, known to this day as the Great Reckoning, which devoured nearly the entire population of the world and ripped all manmade objects from the earth, reforging the land in the original image of the gods. A few thousand men and women survived the event and awakened to a lush, green planet that had been restored to its former beauty. The first kingdoms that spanned the world were no more, and the men and women of the world formed the first towns that would become the center of the Kingdom of Cordilon.

Never since the Great Reckoning have men clashed in battle with each other, instead occupied with a new creation of the gods: the hordes of the dead and the damned. Though a few groups have separated from Cordilon and founded their own small nations, no cities or kingdoms have ever warred against each other, opting to work together to defeat the armies of the other side.

Thanks in part to the peace between all humankind (and, ironically, to the hostile armies of the other side), a system of shortened travel has been found between sections of the world, via shortcuts through a dangerous alternate world where the damned roam the burning landscape known to mankind as hell. Only the most powerful of kingdoms have ever attempted to create the potentially devastating network of portals through hell and back, and those that have done so have only made short exploratory ventures into the inferno.

Cities of Cordilon

Aquanor

Situated in a cave network with numerous underground rivers and lakes, Aquanor was originally founded by Nilanos Blademoon, who recognized its value as an easily-defended position in the early days of the Creeper Outbreak of 339 AGR. Shortly after the Creepers were culled, a valuable deposit of redstone was found, spurring significant growth. While the redstone ran out quickly, the complete safety of the cave town and its steady supplies of clean water allowed for continued growth under Nilanos' eldest son Thexare.

Lumania

Cordilon's first true city, built after society had recovered somewhat from the Great Reckoning. In fact, Lumania was built in large part as a celebration of this recovery, proof that life could go on. The city's numerous fountains were symbolic of its rebirth, and its equally-numerous guard towers served as a silent assurance that this city would be safe. It houses the Lumania Pyramid, where the ruling council meets and hears petitions from civilians, as well as a sizable guard regiment and training facility. The overt appearance of security combined with the town's age has led to Lumania being the most populous city in Cordilon.

Tethra

Tethra is the capital and personal home city of one of the rulers of Cordilon, Lord Kazinsal Goldsmith. The city is an assortment of buildings in the belly of a large cave that was found to end as a deep, wide basin. The buildings are all centered on the Hall of the Forge, the fortress from which Kazinsal runs the city. Being situated in the area, it is significantly restricted in its expansion and has no room for farming, though small iron and coal veins are often found during construction. Due to the lack of room above ground, many buildings expand deeper into the earth instead of building upwards.

Sensara

An ancient project of the Cordilon ruling council, Sensara is intended to fill two roles. It is a tourist attraction and a way to show the power of Cordilon when contact with other nations is re-established. It also serves an emergency fallback point in the event of another Reckoning; it is large enough to support the entire population of Cordilon, if perhaps a bit uncomfortably, and it continues to expand as necessary. Sensara is supported by numerous pillars which contain spiral staircases up to the city proper, and travel within the city is facilitated by means of the Tubeway - a series of, essentially, water slides. The only straight land-based entryway is through the narrow Crybridge Pass, which is only connected so wagons and merchant caravans can access the city.

I will totally join your epic RP if you will allow me to. I'll need to know the rules on minecarting, as I love making subways and elevated trains. I also enjoy automating things.

Let me know what the address for the server is when it is up, please! =D

Rule 1: Do not build minecarts.

Rule 2: Do not build minecarts!

The construction of minecarts and tracks locks up a server in such a state that a backup of the world has to be restored.

In fact, that's one of the reasons the public opening is delayed until the Halloween update - in hopes that this'll be fixed.

This is also (part of) where the idea for Sensara's Tubeway came from - accelerated travel in what should be a large city without powered minecarts? Only one option was left.

Oh...I didn't know that. IF they are fixed in the update, would we consider a minecart track? Otherwise, I'll have to get over my fixation with lots of single player... XD

Anyway, it sounds like it'll be a fantastic world!

As soon as they're fixed, all the rules banning them will almost certainly be gone; they're only in place to keep the server running.

EDIT:

The Pyramid at Lumania, where the Cordilon ruling council meets. I know it's small, but I said that's where they meet, not where they live.

Edit2:

Also, if you read the textwall in my previous post in detail, you may have noticed hints at other nations outside of Cordilon. Yes, that means that someone else can, potentially, start their own.

Bad news, Alexandor. Minecarts are still broken. And Hell doesn't even work in multiplayer.

I have a server we keep over at VGG up for this but I'm not an exceptional fan of things like it. It's a nice concept, I'll give it that, and definitely a game for those that aren't really one for having to get into a game with a set goal in mind outside of what YOU want it to be based on the game's open design.

That said they've crashed the server on my comp plenty of times with overkillings of TNT and lava.

I have news!

Minecarts, buckets, and boats all work in multiplayer.

Or, at least it should. We'll have to test.

Well, I just received word that minecarts do work on the latest server builds. The server at nom-nom-nom.us has them. Also, boosters must be carefully planned, else they can crash the server by generating too much momentum. A stopping booster is needed on SMP.

Also, when are you planning to let us in your server, Astrophel? =D

Um... it's open. Has been for nearly two weeks.

An application process does exist however. Forum link.

We need to test minecarts on this server before we'll allow them, and that's on hold for... various reasons beyond our control.
