All right... Who's watching?

Admittedly I just took it up recently, mostly out of love for River Song.

I grew up being into geek shows like Hercules and Xena and Star Trek and used to pick up magazines and other things for them and would constantly see pictures and footage here and there of Tom Baker/4th Doctor. I'd seen a couple Chris Eccelston episodes, but didn't really get into it.

Now I'm a bit addicted. Again, it's mostly because of River, but I've also developed a love for the monsters -- the Weeping Angels, the Silence, etc.

Anyway, now I've done Gallifrey (world's oldest Who con), I've got my own sonic screwdriver, and all that.

I'm watching the newest episode right now, and I still can't help but HAAAAATE the new companion. At WonderCon this weekend I kept seeing girls dressed as her. What's this all the immediate love?

Then again, what's with my immediate hate? I guess it's because I don't go for the whole companions being girls hoping to get romantically involved with the Doctor. It seems more like Oswin was written to be this snarky love interest. Eh..

Again, who's watching?

*proudly raises hand*

I first watched Doctor Who when I was a kid. There was a channel that aired a bunch of the older episodes, ranging from black and white to full color. I only watched it because there was nothing else on (literally, we had like 2 other channels at the time), but I must admit, I had no idea what the hell was going on.

Fast forward to now. I have seen every episode of the newer series multiple times and I'm rewatching the older episodes, now understanding what's actually happening, and I love every minute of it.

I like the new companion, mostly because Matt Smith is awful when he's trying to be mopey and angsty, and she turns him back into the big kid that makes him enjoyable. That being said, these last two episodes have had no second act, and that really bothers me.

The English really don't care about spoilers much of the time, it seems. They'll freely post whatever pictures that are taken on set or publicize when characters leave the show (Downton Abbey was repeatedly spoiled this season).

Anyway, one set image I'm glad to see either way:

Apparently that's not a set photo, just cosplay.

But, yeah, they are both in the 50th anniversary special.

That's one helluva cosplay! Can't really see the 10th Doctor's face very well but the 11th Doctor looks identical.

I'm hearing it's supposedly their stand-ins, but I'm not getting a solid source on that one.

EDIT: Also, it's funny that I post that argument about the English and spoilers and now the producers of Sherlock are publicizing a plea to fans to stop posting set photos. It's what happens when so many things are filmed in London.

Not to say we here in L.A. are discreet, but there are two factors:

1) Most of the time when we see a film crew and all the trailers that accompany it, which happens A LOT, we're more apt to bitch that it's causing traffic with all the tourists wanting to gawk and all the streets that get closed off for the shoot.

2) If you post something from a set, and they figure out where the pictures and info come from, it's possible you can be sued to all hell.

Still, though, River herself was the one to hint at there being two of them:

Spoiler:
When I first heard that line, I suspected either the Doctor arranged some kinky rendezvous (unlikely) or that this was a hint that they'd be bringing back Tennant or Chris Eccleston for an anniversary episode.

I really wish they would have had something with River and Harkness. Both of them are extraordinary characters.

But River can't meet Tennant. She'd never met that face before in Silence in the Library...

Either way, it sounded like the writers dropping a hint.

I wish they'd have her meeting Harkness. Though it is speculated that he was the one who arrested her.

It would have to be a pre-Doctor Harkness, since he's not a time cop any more.

Also, they used the red setting on the screwdriver in the last episode, which River mentioned in Silence in the Library.

I've been reading a few articles that have been coming up here and there about how John Barrowman and Alex Kingston have recently become acquainted and get along famously, and how they both wish their characters could have a Who spin-off together.

Please, someone make that happen. Pretty please?!

I know, I'm just being an ass. I liked Torchwood at first, but it went downhill at the end. A lot of fans would throw a fit if River got her own show. Tons of people can't stand her.

So the finale episode has leaked, but no one's posted it as far as I can tell.

While I'm sure people are praising those who received their early copies of the BluRay for not posting it for others, all these pictures of their TVs with the opening credits running is just plain cocky.

Frankly with how well-behaved the internet has been about this, I'm more suspecting this is a publicity stunt, especially now with the BBC claiming that if no one shares the finale they'll put out a special scene with Matt and David after the finale airs.

9 - "Brilliant!"
10 - "Allons-y!"
11 - "Geronimo!"
12 - "Fuck."

To be honest, he's what I was imagining. Not the exact actor, but I was hoping for an older Doctor again, and I know that Peter can pull off the Doctor wonderfully!
