I may be beaten...

But I guess that's what I get for going on vacation/having work/hanging out with friends, xD.

In other words, Phoenix, you need to get a job so I can beat you.

Granted, and it is awesome. Phenomenaly awesome. Like, came fromt he planet Krypton awesome. However, the next time you eat your facorite meal, yo realize it is crap in comparison. Indeed, all foods are now terrible to you. You now hate all foods, having lost an appreciation for their taste, and nearly die. Instead, you go into a coma and spend the rest of your life being fed by a needle.

I wish for the ultimate punchline.

Kingdom of Heaven: Director's Cut.

I've seen it before, but I think it's an excellent movie, with plenty of symbolism and a great story. I wouldn't watch the normal cut though, it lacks the 40 minutes that make this movie so awesome.

Yeah, so I've had one typo so far, but usually then I almost never use any spellchecker or backspacing. Good initial writing is a lot more effective than going back to proofread your posts afterwards.

Posted on 08-02-10 03:02 PM, in so hows Obama been doing? Link
I'm pretty sure that I've agreed with only one of Obama's choices, and that was his privatizing the space program. Given that NASA hasn't gotten proper unding for years, I think that was probably our best chance for future space flight.

Healthcare: I may be a bit biased, as my dad is working for Blue Cross Blue Shield, but I will say that in order to still survive as a company, their North Carolina company alone has to cut $200,000,000 in the next two years. Given that they'd already made pretty significant cuts, this means that they're going to have to make massive layoffs.

In order to look at it in a more detailed way, let's assume that the average income for a BCBS employee is about $70,000. 200,000,000/70,000 = 2,857.14286 employees laid off.

Now, let's just asume that they make a lot of budget cuts beyond employees, cancelling bonuses, etc. I'm going to assume that 1/3 of this is just budget cutting, which I believe to be a very generous estimate. 2,857.14286 * .66 = 1,902.85714 employees laid off.

Now, let's pretend that all of Blue Cross Blue Shield's companies have to make the same cuts. Blue Cross is a federation of 39 different health organizations accross the United States. So, 39 * 1,902.85714 = 74,211.4285 employees laid off.

That's over 74,000 people out of the job with just this healthcare bill. In June, we had a 9.5% unemployment rate in America, with 45% of these people having been without a job for 27 weeks or longer. Do we really need another seventy four thousand people without a job?

I'll get to some of his other stuff, especially General McCrystal later.

Posted on 08-02-10 10:37 PM, in The Neverending Story: Vulkar vs. Cairoi! Link
Stabs are a very interesting attack in the battlefield. They are easy to block under normal circumstances, yet when used properly, could kill an advesary with a single hit.

Cairoi was not using it properly.

Alex's implant took over, recognizing that there were two attacks, not just the stab. It looked at the energy first. It didn't have he strength to create a wall to block the energy this time, no, grabbing onto that many air molecules takes concentration.

But it didn't have to create an entire wall...

Energy, such as light, moves in a conic shape, spewing forth from a source at angles. However, if a shadow is created, its own conic shadow will be parallel to the angle of the light, meaning that the wider the cone of light, the wider the shadow.

So Alex concentrated on a much smaller number of air molecules, creating a rod, a narrow staff in Cairoi's energy blast, leaving him and his legs in the shadow of the energy.

The ground around Alex burned, the sand turning into glass. That could have been him, he could have lost his feet with a single attack. Now was not the time, he still had the stab.

Alex could have dodged the stab, indeed, were he fighting with any other weapon, he would have. But he wasn't. Alex had waited to reveal one of his most deadly weapons, his nanobot sword. This weapon was comprised entirely of nanobots, living machines forming solid metal. Through magnetic linking of each of the nanobots, his sword was just as strong as any other, the only difference being, it could change form.

This was the original reason for Alex creating the implant in his head, it allowed him to quickly an accurately shift the shape of his sword. While he was capable of it without the implant, he couldn't calculate the changes, alter the movements, nearly as quickly as he could with it.

He lowered himself, and swung his sword at Cairoi's weapon in a horizontal. However, as Alex's sword swung, it lengthened, longer, longer still. longer than a Claymore, eight feet long.

Were Cairoi to attempt a stab, he would be less than four feet away from Alex, so as Alex swung to block, his own sword should swing through Cairoi's midsection., only stopping when it hit Cairoi's sword.

Posted on 08-03-10 10:29 AM, in PC vs. Console Link
I'd really have to say that it really depends. If I'm playing a game like Oblivion, PC all the way, just for the mod community. Same goes for Fallout or a lot of other games.

However, I also really enjoy the controls on the consoles. Dual sticks are much easier for general movement and navigation than a mouse and keyboard. But at the same time, there has yet to be a great RTS game on the console.

So...

PC = FPS, RTS.
Console = Everything else.

ooc: Sorry, I sort of forgot about this battle.

ic:

Alex grinned, Braksa may hve been a powerful demon, but he clearly wasn't quite used to fighting in a human body yet.

The interesting thing about a kick is that it requires much more balance than a punch or a strike with a sword. It requires you to put all of your balance onto one foot, leaning back slightly to counter the balance of the foot in the air, as otherwise the attack would simply fall forward.

A kick needs to be precise, if the kick goes higher than the attacker intended, it would cause the attack for fall flat on his back. Perfect balance is essential for such an attack.

Braksa was pulling at Alex's sword at the same time as he was tryng to kick Alex. That would leave him with even less balance.

Alex could see this attack because he only redirected the light from his own balls of energy. He could see the wavelengths of all other lights, the stars shining down, the moon...he could see it all, as if his own lights weren't even there. The wavelengths from his own lights were invisible to him.

But there was more, Braksa had his shadows wrapped around Alex's sword. This should have been significant, except that Braksa forgot about Alex's lights. The lights shined underneath Alex's swords, shining light at Braksa's shadows. While these shadows could stll exist, they were weakened.

So as Braksa twisted at the same time as kicking, Alex lifted pushed at Braksa's sword, weakening his balance still further.

As Braksa kicked, Alex didn't step back, he only moved one foot, rotating himself while still maintaining pressure on the sword, so that the kick would go past him, only inches away from his stomach. Perfect.

Alex concentrated, he was the master of energy, even of telekentic energy, and as Braksa kicked, he suddenly sent a wave of telekenetic force underneath of Braksa's foot, which would hopefully left his leg high, and send Braksa falling to the ground.

If Braksa fell, Alex knew better than to attack with his sword. Instead, he would lift up a hand, and fire a blast of electricity, a bolt that moved at the speed of light, from his hand. Enough to kill a man.

Lightning too, fell under Alex's domain of energy. It had its uses, but rarely was as easy to control as Alex's other attacks. Rarely was it a smart choice.

This was a rare time.

ooc: This is the third battle I'm fighting at the time, so I'm afraid I probably can't keep to the 3 day contract, especially since I spend over an hour planning and physically reinacting every step for each post I make. So, while I will hold to my other obligations, I cannot promise you I'll post in time, as each post takes me a major time commitment.

Also, for the record, you should know that Vulcan or Hephaestus are in charge of fire, not Hades.

ic:

Alex stood in the middle of the street. He was a mere human, physically he was no stronger than any other. He could bleed, he could get sick, and he would tire. In a game of basketball, he was no better than anyone else, worse, even, in some cases.

But that didn't matter to him. He had trained his abilities for years, starting off as nothing more than a college student taking a few martial arts classes, until he became who he was. A powerful fighter with few equals. A master of battle.

He came here for reasons not even he knew. An idea, a thought. Why not? Brazil was hardly remarkable, especially in its cities. So why had he come?

It din't matter. He paused, and realized why he'd come.

Ahead of him stood a man. A man looking for a fight, the years of combat and eperience in his eyes. A look Alex knew well.

"Good day, friend." Alex called out. He didn't want a fight, he never did. He fancied himself a pacifist, not a warrior. He only fought when the fight came to him.
