It's quite sad, yet funny how he practically advertises Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert as his enemy. Well guess who we're going to flock to.

I couldn't help but laugh at his ridiuclous toast clip art.

Like the subject says

There really isn't much explanation I can give for this outside of what is already written.

It is a trick I wish I could pull on some of the jerks that live in my neighborhood, but it would probably make all of the old people more angry than they already are.

So there's going to be a Republican dinner with a dove shooting party. Invitation posted below:

Anyone find it amusing that they want to shoot doves on Sept. 11? Doves, the symbol of peace. What those who are against war are called as opposed to "hawks."

Yes, I do realize that dove hunting is an actual sport and there is a such thing as dove season, but this is just too rich.

I hadn't heard about the transportation deal they had, but that's pretty great on their part. Shows that they stand behind their product and the consumer.

One shirt of theirs that I think I would buy is the "Autistic kids rock!" one. My mom works with mentally challenged and autistic adults and often I go to the Special Olympics to support them.

Of course, I know the shirt has double meanings, but both statements are true.

I thought it was hysterical when they had gotten a hate e-mail for that shirt from a mother of an autistic child. She had written that she was going through the site was filling her little cart up with shirts from all over, saying she was getting a huge kick out of the shirts they had and then when she got to that one, she quickly emptied her virtual cart and proceeded to write a nasty letter. How lame is that? She thinks the shirt over her that jokes about anti-semitism over here is less offensive than the more positive, and truthful, autistic kids shirt over there.

She also signed her letter "Proud of her child damaged by mercury." Though I get what she means, it sounds pretty morbid.

But meh. Seriously the hate messages they get are ridiculous, but the answers they give them are even better.

I think the mere fact that they chose that date is what makes it amusing.

Anyway, on the matter of hunting them, what sort of ammunition do you use that doesn't fill their bodies so full of lead that they'd be impossible to do anything with other than toss in the garbage?

I heard from a few people that Steve Irwin's request was that were he in danger and died during a shoot, he wanted the cameras to keep rolling and for the footage of his death to be released so as to educate the public further on animals.

At the moment, different press outlets are clammering for the footage and there is a general feeling that someone will eventually leak it onto YouTube. Chances are pretty high that it will, YouTube does randomly get all sorts of footage before the media does.

After doing a short search out of curiosity, all of the videos thus far have been tributes and montages of him on his show with his wife and daughter, Bindi.

Mosrite-made guitars painted by artist Von Dutch. According to the description, they were made for Strawberry Alarm Clock (they were famous for doing the song "Incense and Peppermints" which has forever been an anthem for the '60s).

Posted on 09-08-06 02:56 PM, in Single serving friends Link
Heh, as I was reading over the past posts on this thread, I remembered another couple of single serving friends I made during Comic-Con this year.

I didn't have enough change to take the trolley down to the convention center that morning and ended running down the street to the McDonald's to break a $20. When I got back to the station, there was this guy standing next to me who I asked how he was doing. Next thing I know we're having this LONG discussion of video games and all sorts of things. When the train came, he and I were talking and standing next to each other on the trolley. He walked with me all the way to the convention center and then wanted me to go with him the Nintendo DS booth, where he was an exhibitor, around that point I had to go to a signing, so I waved good-bye and never saw him again.

Another single serving friend I made was this girl named Indigo who was wearing a Utilikilt and had a blue mullet. We were waiting in line to see Densha Otoko and we just kept talking. Even when we got in the theater she and I sat next to each other and when she went to the bathroom she brought back posters of the movie for everyone in our row. She was an amusing person to talk to and even wanted to high-five when I mentioned that I watch things on YouTube. Hehe.

So I have a new list for this month. Granted there are more people I'd like to add, but I'd rather not go against my original rules.

- My bio professor. Though I love her, she scheduled a field trip for during school and what's more, I have an English class that immediately follows her class. The English class that I will be missing, is headed by a teacher who only allows you two absenses over the course of the semester, and on the day of the trip, the English class is having a peer edit session, something that if I miss, will deduct half of the points from the essay that I'd be turning in that day. And on top of this hell, the trip is to a place that takes 3 buses to get to from the school (since she doesn't hire transportation for her trips and you have to get to these places on your own, no guests allowed), I'll probably be late for this class as well.

- The women who work in the bridal shop by the Lakewood Mall. While walking by it yesterday, my friend decided she wanted to run in and look around at "all the pretty dresses." The moment we get in there, we're mauraded by saleswomen asking questions like, "When's your wedding?" "Which one of you is getting married?" "Are you looking for bride or bride's maids' dresses?" "Prom dresses?" and while just walking around, saleswomen were popping out of every which place trying to push a dress on us. Each time my friend said we were just looking, they'd give us murderously dirty looks. Working on commission, I guess. Shortly after we walked out, my friend said, "We should have just said both of us were getting married, but we were still deciding on who should wear the dress."

- People who just feel the need to cut in line just because. All day yesterday there were different deals and specials, so my friend and I were constantly standing in line for something or other and every time there was always someone who came off from the side, who would shuffle in front of us when the opporunity would come. On a later incident, when it finally was just the last straw, we were in line for free burritos at Chipotle, so I just dropped it and didn't want to tarnish the karma of free burritos and drinks.

- ASB reps who call the newspaper office at the last minute to complain that no one's covering their event that they just threw together and hadn't informed us of prior to the event. Look, the press might be all-seeing and all-knowing in your eyes, but that's just to throw you off the scent when we scan over your PR person's press releases to see if it's an event worth printing.

- The new editor in chief of the magazine. We've only had 3 class meetings so far and she missed the first 2 and the last one was the writers presenting their story ideas. She's supposed to have posted that story assignments by Tuesday night and hasn't even gotten to anything involving the magazine yet, so all of these writers are coming to me since I'm in the office and do most of the talking for the editors, asking why they haven't heard anything about the magazine yet. Although I direct them to Kori, the editor in chief, she's either been telling them to fuck off or come to me. There's ABSOLUTELY NO REASON for them to come to me. I'm not in charge of giving out assignments or even dealing with writers. I'm not even an editor this semester, although I was all the other semesters past. Now you've got all of these writers wandering around lost and all of the work of deciding which stories are out there to write is on Kori's shoulders. Hopefully this all sorts itself out by Monday.

- Event planners who work for certain breweries who think that $60 is a reasonable price to pay to see a band you've been following for years (and whose shows usually cost only $15 to attend, $10 if you're a friend of the band) because their brewery is in a higher class area.

I figured I'd start this thread, since I'm sure everyone gets silly or absolutely absurd questions, all the time. This one is actually old for me. I wrote it sometime earlier this year:

Since Nancy (my Desktop Publishing professor) has built me up to be some QuarkXpress layout demi-god, DP students ask me for help all the time with their fliers and newsletters and what have you. Since I have no life I'm constantly just sitting in the office, I tend to come running when there's that cry for help in the next room.

Upon answering another "Help?!" and coming to yet another pseudo-rescue, the student in need looked at me with the most innocent and pure look of peril and asked, "How do I put a sound in my brochure?"

For a little clarification, what she's working on is for printing out and handing in.

Yeah, it's the "Elephant Love Medley" which is pretty much a bunch of the most famous love songs thrown together to make this one song.

I remember when Junkie showed this one AMV with this song which featured Parn and Deedlit from Lodoss War and that was COMPLETELY out of character, especially since the series was always Deed crushing on Parn, while the song is the converse of that, with the male character seeking the love of the female.

Yeah, I dropped Wildlife Biology partially for the fieldtrip thing, however if you can get a ride with someone in the class it isn't so bad, also she lets you out earlier so you can get to your next class usually.

It's the Laguna brewery that's having the Boggards come in and perform. $60. Sure you get a beer sampling and dinner, but $60 per person? That's a bit too much.

I don't want to have to drop either class, and thankfully this seems to be the only thing that would conflict with other classes. I am still a little aggitated that one of the bio trips fell on a Wicked Tinkers concert. >P

So much to do, so little time. >P

It actually is amusing being around pre-teens and some teenagers, specifically the cousins and siblings of my friends and boyfriend. They curse at EVERY opportunity, no matter how unfitting it is for the topic or the time.

Example: "Hey, how you doin'?" Their answer: "I'm fucking all right."

No the italics thing isn't meant to set it off so much as show how the over-emphasize the swear words in a sort of, "Look at me! I'm cursing like a grown-up!!"

I didn't really start swearing until I was 16. There just wasn't any reason to curse.

I do swear a lot now, but not so much so that it's a noteworthy part of the conversation. Whenever I hear preteen and most teenagers swear it's excessive and like the example I've posted above.

In Gaia, I'm amazed by the things they talk about and how they address the topics. Kind of reminds me of "Kids Say the Darnedest Things."

One of them in conversation: "I remmber seeing on CNN that if u pour Aliseltzer on the guy's dick, u wont get pregnant."

I like doing both, but commenting to someone else during the movie is often more interesting than the movie itself.

Did your friend like it at least?

The Article

Universal's "Mummy" Dearest: The Un-sequel

EXCLUSIVE: When is a sequel not a sequel?

The star is back. A hot team of sequel scribes have turned in their script. The same producers are producing.

But for the love of Ra, please: Don't call it a sequel.

At least, that's the thinking at Universal Pictures, where the third installation of "The Mummy" is being readied to begin shooting early next year. TMZ has learned that Brendan Fraser has already agreed to return, but in a twist that reveals how high stakes the franchise movie business has become, the studio has actually promised potential directors that it won't be called "The Mummy 3."

Why?

Well, for starters, Sumner Redstone may have drubbed "Mission: Impossible 3" for coming up $150 million short in box office thanks to Tom Cruise's off-screen effectuation of "creative suicide," but the truth is, any movie with a number in its title begins its life with the press and the public betting against it creatively.

"Rocky 6"? Pah-thet-ic. "Rocky Balboa"? Intriguing.

"Superman 5"? A tired retread. "Superman Returns"? Count me in!

And if a studio waits too long between tentpole releases, as some speculate Paramount might have done with "Mission: Impossible 3 " and you can wind up on the wrong side of a demographic shift: Universal's original "Mummy" debuted in 1999, nearly eight years ago. The high school freshman who was popping zits on the night of its premiere is now looking for his first job out of college.

None of this has been lost on the folks at Universal, who hired "Smallville" creators Alfred Gough and Miles Millar to reimagine the Stephen Sommers epic for a new generation that's never even heard of "The Mummy."

Currently, Universal has made an offer to Joe Johnston ("Hidalgo, "October Sky") a protege of George Lucas and Stephen Spielberg, to direct. He's not likely to do it, insiders familiar with the talks say, because "Joe's not a sequel guy."

Huh? Then why did Johnston direct "Jurassic Park III" and, why Joe he attached to "Jurassic Park IV"?

"Um, Steven Spielberg?" comes the staccato reply.

You see, sequels, unless they're produced by Steven Spielberg, are for suckers.

"The Mummy 3"? It's not a sequel, people. It's not even a trilogy. It's a reimagining.

Look for it in theaters soon.

I'd been looking forward to this since Scorpion King was so ridiculously unsettling for me. I was obsessed with the first one and the second one left much to be desired. Here's hoping this third one will be much better.
