I'm not opening a debate about religion, but rather one on comic strips that are put out to try to convert and attract people to any particular religion.

I stumbled across this one while reading about another Christian webcomic creator who apparently has gone off his rocker since the death of his step-mother (some say it's a hoax, many send him religious fan art and say they'll pray for him):
Who is Allah?

What are your thoughts of this comic strip?

I do ask that you please be respectful of religion and others' opinions. Obviously not all Christians would say such things, and this should be judged on the individual and not the culture.

The one I posted about the Christian webcomic, Doobl, actually goes severely downhill about 10 or 12 strips in and just gets worse and worse from there. There aren't many of his, so you could start "In the Beginning" and be done with the whole series in under an hour.

For that one, I still say that many people think it's a hoax, in that he started this wholesome Christian webcomic so that all these Christian sites would reference him and put him on their hot links and then he took the wholesome thing, threw it out the window and went to town on the characters.

I don't know if it is a hoax or not, but it's interesting what happens in the comic after Dobbl loses his faith.

Fair question. When I placed the disclaimer that I wanted this discussion to be on the comics themselves and not religion and also asking for members to respect religion it was to guard against senseless comments like, "Yeah, Christians suck!" or "See? Muslims are idiots!"

It's safe to comment on the people who created them, their way of going about attacking another religion (the "Who is Allah?" one in this case), and so on. I just didn't want this to erupt into a flame war over Christianity like many threads here have in the past.

If any mod wants to place this in General because they feel this is better suited there, they are free to. I started it here due to being an often controversial topic and I wanted people to take this from a more objective stance than, "Hey look at this totally WTF thing I found!"

Now on commenting on the "Who is Allah?" strip, it's entirely imbalanced that the Muslim the creator instilled in there suddenly went from whackjob "I'm gonna kill you because I can" Muslim (which most Muslims are not) to "OH NOES!!! If what you say is true, then I am doomed!!! I will die delivering the message that my people's faith is wrong because some guy talked to me about the Bible for 5 minutes." Its quite absurd, really.

We're all definitely going to miss you, sweetie.

As I said to you in the IM, we're sending lots of love and luck your way, Sarah.

Thank you so much for your part in Breast Cancer Awareness month. I'm really going to miss you and your quirkiness. It brings a few tears to my eyes to see you go.

I'll be keeping you in my thoughts, hoping that you are safe and well. You're one brave woman.

Yes, I know Zoso doesn't post here that often, but I also wanted to alert friends and figurative family (LBCC students, former and current. After going there for a while, you become family) about the event, especially since it also opens up the floor for hanging out together.

If you happen to be in Southern California tomorrow night, come and hang out. I'll buy you a drink (mind you, it'll probably be a Coke).

So I'm all excited about playing God of War 2 when it comes out, but even then I'll have to wait for the price to drop before getting a copy.

Either way, I'm all geared up for it and ready to play my favorite Spartan once more.

In the meantime, here's the trailer and a some excess material from the first game. Hehehehehe!!
Trailer for 2:

The fate of Kratos' brother we never got to see:

Gee, what did happen with the Temple of Pandora after Kratos got Pandora's box?:

That actually made me sad. We're going to miss you.

I'm sure you won't get this message as you've already past your last time using the Internet for a while. Damn not having a faster connection at home and having to wait 'til I was alone at work to watch.

The video was wonderful. I've always wondered how people can grab the videos from the games, but I guess I'll find out when next we speak.

And now for a video in complete converse.

Xena to Final Fantasy music.

It's pretty blurry, but it's not bad.

Oh for...

There are times I'm aware of things before most everyone else, and there are times I'm the last person to know. This was one of those I'm so late on receiving the news, it's gone and collected cob webs.

This can be closed.

You know... if mods even look at these things.

I'm more excited about the movie that came out with Tatsuya Fujiwara playing Light.

The manga's not bad, and I still actually need to see the anime, but yeah, the movie seems more fascinating. And they already made the sequel.

It was actually Zoso (my boyfriend)'s gig with his band, but I took the pictures and whatnot. It went over really well... you know, for a Tuesday night. Good excuse to hang out with friends I don't get to see very often.

Ironically the cast I used to be in is doing a pimp-and-ho' night tonight too.

Since I'm sure you've already made your decsion of whether or not to go, I'd have said (if I weren't stuck at the zoo from sunrise 'til an hour ago) to go just to see how their party is. In the past I'd been invited to several parties that I just didn't go to and I found myself feeling like I was missing out. Even if the party was a bust, at least you'd have not been doing something you could do any other night of the year.

Meh ... I feel old. Especially after being surrounded by people pushing strollers with screaming kids that I know I'm never going to want and then having to yell about being over charged for a plate of chicken and a bottle of water ... but that's got nothing to do with the price of eggs.

Another gig.

Just passing it along. Thanks.

EDIT: Had to post another version of the flier. I didn't make this one, but whoever did hasn't learned the power of simplicity in making ads or to use as few fonts as possible to make it easier on the eye. Had to fix it.

P.S. I am the lame.

My Internet n00b days are actually quite depressing and pathetic.

Started when I was 11, in 1997. Was excited about it because I could finally keep in contact with my friends who already had Internet and who started an "e-mail cult" to promote some form of exclusivity between them. Needless to say, I was an outcast of this and remained unaccepted even upon getting a web connection.

I was a frequenter of chatrooms and lied about my age in order to be taken seriously in conversation (Hell, it's the Internet, nothing's meant to be taken seriously anyway). These were the days when people didn't worry about Internet predators and let's face it, it takes a certain amount of naivete to be believe that a 40-something-year-old man thinks you're special and treats you like an adult just because you're 13 and your parents don't understand you. Not to mock a serious crisis in our society or blame a victim, but this isn't someone forcing themselves into your house and putting a gun to your head. This is answering MySpace comments and AIMing, then scheduling a day and time to meet this person.

Anyway, I came from a time when the Internet wasn't so daunting and kids went online to look up the times their cartoons came on among other things. Not to say that the time I started on the Internet was wholesome, far from it. When was the Internet ever wholesome? Probably never.

But this thought train has completely derailed...

When I first started on the Internet, aside from the chatrooms, I visited the occasional message board here or there, but I always lost track of them, not understanding how to bookmark or how I could return to sites I'd been to. So often enough, I was that anonymous person who came out of nowhere, bumped a thread with a snarky comment or answer to the question that was posed and disappeared just as quickly as I came. The rest of the time, I took to sites like Rotten.com and Bertisevil.com during their early hey days and was a charter member of RPGs like the Alien Adoption Agency and Elderwood when they still piggy-backed off other sites.

At this same time, I was into fanfics, and Fanfiction.net was still allowing NC-17 fics. I was into writing and reading different ones and got to the point that I was critiquing more and more work and was considered a serious critic for a time under the pen name, Haunted Quill. On other sites, my pen name was Pythia or Madame Robinson.

Now that's some nostalgia I haven't thought about in a while, and probably more than you wanted.

You know, most of the time, the reason why people think about suicide is because they feel like their lives have spun so far out of their control that the only thing they feel they can take command over is whether they live or die. It's a matter of free will and having choices.

You can choose to kill yourself and end it all, or not.

As existentialist John Paul Sartre always preached even when he was imprisoned: no matter what, you have a choice. While you might think about suicide now, it will pass. Believe me.
