Helena gasped as Kowalski unbound her.
"Don't touch me!!" She shrieked and whirled about looking for something to cover her exposed arms. |

"Oh, no, it's not that," She said, spying a lab coat hanging on a hook in the corner, going to it and taking it down.
"I just..." She paused to don to coat, "... Didn't want to hurt you." She returned to him, hands jammed in her pockets. |

"It's kind of a long story and as I'm sure you and I are both in a hurry, I'll try to make it quick," she started, as she stared at the floor to avoid eye-contact with her rescuer.
"My name's Helen, or Helena, whatever you want to call me, it's not important. I'm over 3000 years old. Skin-to-skin contact with me transfers life from others, so try not to touch me. You can tell me who you are as we get out of here. Let's go!" Turning to look at Kowalski, she noticed he was bleeding rather severely. "Hey, um. Are you going to need to fix that first?" I guess I'm in the same boat of social confusion.
A massive chunk of my friends are stoners. Not being a drug-user myself, I sometimes feel like they're all a part of this club with a secret handshake and have built a rapport with one another as well as shady acquaintances who'll smoke weed no matter whose it is and I end up feeling left out. I'm not willing to compromise my ideals to feel less ostracized, despite the pressure being on with how many non-smoking friends have suddenly decided they want to partake from now on. Anyway, being a geek who doesn't club either, I guess I find my fun in going to festivals and finding free things to do in L.A. and other areas. I don't know if that's what you'd consider "in between," though. Maybe just getting out and NOT hitting the bars and clubs. |

All right, answering my own question.
Yes, I do, but I don't write many personal thoughts in it other than dates, what I did on some days and what I've been reading. My LiveJournal is mostly a collection of pictures I've taken and things I've seen. What's your favorite holiday? |

Helena's eyes went misty as Kowalski spoke. It was the sincerest and most wondrous thing she'd heard from someone who wasn't uncontrollably entranced by her or trying to bed her.
She looked up into his eyes. There was no ripple, no wisps of smoke, nothing in hers this time--She simply looked at Kowalski with wonderment and pride. She hugged him, making sure her uncovered face and hands only touched what was left of his tattered, bullet hole-riddled shirt. The once-white lab coat she'd taken was now stained crimson with his blood. Helena's slender and seemingly delicate form was so tiny compared to Kowalski's larger frame, and in her tight embrace she reveled in his raging body heat through the shirt. That was one blessed thing the Noxadrain offered her: the naked and unhindered feeling of another person's warmth without worry she was harming them. When she'd held Michael's hand, she was so intoxicated by the feeling, it overwhelmed her senses. "Thank you," she uttered. A tear escaping her eye. "Villain or not, you're my hero." She peeled herself away from him and headed for the door, though unsure of where to go from here. "I hope I see you again. On the outside," she said turning to him again before leaving. A jewel case for this CD Brandon's aunt wanted us to play at her wedding a week ago. It's on my desk right in front of me.
Do you read books in the store without paying for them? |

I've become something more of a library goer in the last year and I prefer borrowing now to buying. I guess if I really want a book I'll pay upwards of $15 for it. Maybe if it's a first edition of a book I've been looking forward to I'll go the $30.
Then again there's always textbooks which can run $40-100. Describe your first kiss in three words. |

So yeah, this has been going around all of yesterday.
EDIT: I just noticed Shuyin posted roughly the same picture, but for some reason his isn't showing up any of the times I tried loading the page. D'oh. Anyway, when I first saw this I really couldn't help thinking it was a troll or something, but several people on the Internet (yeah, that's trustworthy) have sworn up and down that this is a genuine question from someone just that dumb. Then again there's a whole community of these things on LiveJournal: http://community.livejournal.com/yahoo_lulz/ (Last edited by Rogue on 08-15-08 02:00 PM) |

If we're talking an actual car on the road, not a test-driven car on a track or a roller coaster that resembles a car, I've probably only done 115 mph on the road at the most. I've only done that on the long roadtrips through the desert to Arizona, in the middle of the night, when I averaged somewhere between 90 and 105 mph.
What does pride sound like? |

"Like snozberries," of course.
I've always thought they might taste like blueberries or Dymatap or something, but then again that's for Willy Wonka to decide, I guess. What was the last item you ate that was covered in chocolate? |

Kool-Aid, please. Unless it's grape Kool-Aid, then grape soda.
Last thing you cooked (not microwaved, but cooked on the stove/oven/campfire/etc)? |

Ick, between those two, Splenda. But in the end artificial sweeteners are gross.
Would you rather tongue-kiss someone of the sex opposite your preference or get so drunk you're throwing up all over the place? |

Actually I didn't realize they were making it.
Wonder Woman's origin is quite a fascinating one, actually. She was created by a male psychologist who was really into feminist theories. He lived with his wife and children, along with a student of his and his children with her, all in one house. Wonder Woman wears bracelets that when touched together, bind her and she can't pull them apart. Her creator's student also had to wear *cough* bracelets. The original comic features lots of female bondage. In the end, though, how many women in the DC universe could still be evenly matched with Batman and Superman? |

Sorry, I'm still not convinced.
While I'm pro-medicinal uses, because it does do some positive things like give AIDS patients an appetite so that they won't starve themselves to death among other provable things, I still haven't bought into it being that much of a miracle drug. Inhalation of anything that isn't oxygen is dangerous. Several studies have shown that cannabis-smoking causes lung cancer to appear sooner in than those who smoke tobacco. Source. In the end, I'd rather take my chances and not smoke anything at all. EDIT: I'll add that were THC offered in the form of a pill or inhaler, I'd probably be more inclined to fully support medicinal legalization entirely. Not being a supporter of our drugged-up world as it is (I do NOT believe there is such a thing as ADD, rather a cooked-up trend diagnoses of children to keep them from being kids), I'm not really a fan of meds to begin with. What's with all the movie reboots? Batman, Hulk, Punisher, Terminator (the new movie's going to ignore the fact that T3 was made), and now Lara?
To be honest, though, this girl does fit the Lara Croft bill a bit more than a well-known actress who could maybe fake her way through a fandom. Nothing against Angelina. I love her and all, but c'mon. It was something of a stretch. Well, here's to cautious optimism. |

For my 21st birthday, the midnight of it (as in the very moment I'd legally be able to buy it in the U.S.--I've bought alcohol at 18 in Europe before), my friends and I did a pub crawl and hit up like 10 bars in the area. At every bar my friends exclaimed it was my birthday and got me free drinks for it.
The next morning, due to the fact that I'd had so many different drinks (and mixing can be a VERY bad thing to do), I felt really nauseous. One of the drinks I'd had in one of the bars was a Blue Hawaiian, which tastes like pineapple juice. That next morning, the very thought of the taste of pineapple made me dry-heave, and I get ill whenever I eat or drink pineapple now. For the actual night of my birthday, we went to a pole-dancing club which was entertaining. Yeah, I'm a square. |

I really don't know. If there is a "missing link" I doubt it's in the U.S. where there really isn't much that's unexplored. It's like the belief in the Loch Ness monster. It's possible that some waterborne-species of dinosaur didn't die out, but I doubt it's trapped in a lake in Scotland.
Have you ever had a pet you thought was more human and much more intelligent than most people? |

As a monogamous, straight female--no. I realized this when a friend of mine started discussing her recent experience with being involved in an orgy. Definitely not for me.
I'm pretty open, but there are some things I just don't do. Have you ever fought tooth and nail over something stupid because it was just the last straw? |

I borrowed Across the Universe from the library last week and now I can't stop looking up the scenes on YouTube and listening to the Beatles original songs.
Right now it's "Strawberry Fields Forever." |
