I figure most of us have known each other for the better part of a decade now and every now and then friends need to update one another on how they're doing.

So... what's different about you since you joined this board?

Still in school? Got married? Had a kid? Joined the military?

Seems like a lot's changed for all of us.

That's really cool, Elara! Totally beats the Queen Mary rendezvous.

One of our photographers just got back to the office with the pictures he got of Air Force One and Obama getting deplaned.

As he described the video he made, "The plane pulled up and stopped at the 2-minute mark. Obama got off at the 9-minute mark, and he's gone at the 12-minute mark." All the press was still drooling when he got off the plane, waved to them as he walked passed and was quickly whisked away by the Secret Service.

I wonder if Brandon's dad saw him. He works at the LB Airport.

I keep hitting up TV Links to watch and re-watch the opening montage. I'm so fucking impressed with it.

I'm amazed there are those who aren't.

When Christina was in town last week, one of the two days I got to hang out with her was wasted because she was making lunch/dinner for Jes and his friends and the dominating conversation in the kitchen, most of the time Brandon and I were there, was one of Jes' female friends (Harm, short for Harmony) shouting to another female friend (Jamie), describing the entire story from book to book. What was even more annoying about it was how they both kept going on about HATING it, but Jamie insisted Harm continue so she could know the whole story without reading the books.

After about an hour and a half most of the group retreated to the living room, and Christina was still laboring away in the kitchen while Harm and Jamie shouted back and forth about emo werewolves in love with unborn fetuses and so and so forth.

Even when I tried to just hang out and talk with Christina while she was cooking, it became impossible to hear over Harm and Jamie, who compensated for any other noise in the room by screaming even louder about the damn books.

After another hour (mostly spent trying to drown out the Twilight bashing), and still not getting much time to really catch up with Christina, Brandon and I had to go.

So even the people who hate it, yet won't stop talking about it, are kinda on my shit list.

By the way, Harm and Jamie see each other every day. Why they chose THAT day to recount Twilight to one another is beyond me.

Here's a fuck you to Jack in the Box for advertising nachos for $3 and giving you two of the mystery meat 2-for-99-cent tacos cut up, covered in plasticy nacho cheese and laid out on a bed of rotting lettuce that takes up most of the container.

Here's another fuck you to all the fanboys I know I'm gonna have to deal with during con season who won't stop pissing and moaning about the changes made in the Watchmen movie. Goddamn, get over it, will ya? Do what Kevin Smith told the lot of you at Wizard World '04 to do and learn to jerk off.

Another fuck you very much to fate. You've been most cruel, Lady Fortune, but I have not forsaken you.

A big-ass fuck you to time, though. Make the great moments last forever, will you? Not the ones where I'm scratching my eyeballs out copy-editing stories from beginning writing students THAT STILL GET FUCKING PRINTED!!

OK... I'll be honest on this one.

Everything I've heard about Twilight sounds absolutely absurd. Obviously it's not the greatest vampire story ever told. That's a complete given.

But the author ruins literature? I don't think Dickens, Tolstoy, Twain, Hemingway, Huxley, Austen, Shakespeare, etc are tarnished because there are several TERRIBLE authors out there.

It's not really meant to be serious lit. It's a guilty pleasure for teens and adults alike. Much like Rice, Steele, Roberts, etc. It's just reading for entertainment. No one's looking to find a deeper message in it that echoes through the ages--and those who do are morons.

Again, I completely agree that it's a waste of time and all that, and the fan-base consists of girls with no real taste in lit, but if people want to read it for fun, let them.

Well, it was Shadow's Edge, then Masters of Darkness, then briefly Masters of Beta. Probably a couple other things during the occasional bouts of down time.

Xeo can fill in the blanks, I'm sure.

So who do you think Rebel is?

I've spent the last few weeks fairly certain it's Wireless, but so many of the communities I follow online are dead-set that it's Micah (possibly assisted by Molly).

Anyway, we'll apparently find out tonight.

Heh, Janice is back. With Matt Jr. in tow. Bwahahaha!!

Definitely awesome.

Based on the IMDb page for Cold Snap, Tim Kring wrote this episode alone. Although Bryan Fuller is listed as a consultant producer. But Jeph Loeb and Jesse Alexander's names are no longer on the list (yet I keep seeing Jeph's name in the opening credits).

Not to stick at it some more, but I notice the best episodes these days have little to no Claire. Although the one with her getting Alex to safety was rather good.

Spoiler:
Kinda sad about who Rebel was, but oh well. I mean, Wireless was contacting Micah after she died. Maybe she taught him how to find everyone or be a spy, in general. I mean, she was in the Israeli military.

Anyway, I love how some of the big players from volume one aren't so all-powerful this season. How Hiro's been completely powerless up until now, while Peter's only able to take a single ability at a time. I hope the one-power-at-a-time sticks. It was annoying when he was practically at god-level.

And on a final note, bring back Monica and Claude!

Let's see I joined Vizzed when I was 18, eventually wandering to MoD either just before or after I'd turned 19. Good times indeed.

Since joining either I'd gone through two boyfriends and have maintained thus-far a 5 year relationship with another who's been living with my parents and myself for a year and half or so. After I off-and-on lived with him in his apartment.

There isn't really anything tangible to illustrate the last 5 and half years, though, as most of it's tied up in experiences and personal growth. From Brandon's and my 2-year stint on a Rocky Horror Picture Show cast during its golden years, to working for different publications, to Brandon's band getting out there and playing shows while I learned how to put together and take apart a drum kit quickly while snapping photos, to both of my parents being in and out of hospitals for cancer or diabetes, and to transferring to a university and working on their paper--and that's not to discount all of the strands of absolutely amazing and often surreal memories that fill in the cracks. All the trips and outings with Lee, similarly odd and wacky trips and outings with Patrick, Christina giving birth and bestowing upon me a goddaughter to cherish (and their moving away to escape foreclosure), all of the conventions, the miles I'd run away to find myself (and still not sure who I'll be), the professors, the books, Brandon's and my random adventures, road trips, etc, and all of the sweet ever-so-short spurts of bliss, ecstasy, rapture, and happiness that filled the days between pain, rage, and depression.

I'm still a work in progress, I guess.

EDIT: Damn typos.

I had to copy-edit the dumbest opinion article yesterday that ended up not getting used anyway.

It was from someone who was so far left they were pissed off that Obama was even taking moderate stances on things. Even more so, this damned writer was so self-righteous. She (he?) was standing in front of NBC studios in L.A. yelling at Obama's motorcade as it "cowardly" drove by, wording it like they were angry he didn't pull over and answer all of their idiotic blatherings which the writer calls "words of sober wisdom."

There was a lot of swearing in it. And a lot of non-sequiturs. Like she calls Obama "President Pee-Pants" when referring to "his unnecessary army," and then calling Leno's chin a weapon of mass destruction.

It was like that episode of The Simpsons where Homer tries to be a food critic and to be sure he got 500 words out, he just wrote "Screw Flanders" over and over again, but with "Fuck Obama" thrown in wherever the writer felt it appropriate. No joke.

Anyway, the executive editor's writing to the writer's professor to say that sort of article isn't appropriate. I mean, her query letter was pretty much, "Hey, I'm in a writing class. I wrote this and you're going to print it" but with many more spelling and grammatical errors.

I had an account. For 5 minutes. Seriously. I created it, looked around, and decided I didn't want to subscribe to something that's pretty much the status bar on MySpace. Another site at which I don't have an account. Same with Facebook.

Every time I check a blog these days everyone wants to exhibit their "Recent Tweets."

Is there any real point to it other than desperately wanting people to know what you're doing and thinking every time you sit at your computer?

A blog I follow sometimes posted this today. I can't help but agree completely:

It's been a really long time since I've played with either, and even then I'm not all that experienced at them. Seriously, the last time I really played either, I was collecting Yu-Gi-Oh! cards when it was first introduced in English in like 2002, 2003.

Uh.. so I guess I'll just go with Magic. Which I haven't played since '03.

Are you more someone who breaks the rules and doesn't care, or one who follows the rules and gets mad when others break them?
