| Watching Burlesque, starring Cher, Christina Aguilera, Kristen Bell, Alan Cumming, and Peter Gallager. It claims to be an homage to Bob Fosse's Cabaret, but it just feels like a cheap rip-off the moment you see the opening act (which pulls directly from "Wilkommen").
On top of that it feels like a rip-off of (OF ALL THINGS) Coyote Ugly. The acts aren't bad, but eh.. I could never see it again and be fine. |

I FINALLY heard back from the guy after more than 10 days of so-called "silent treatment." He showed the PDFs I'd been sending him to someone else and now he wants all of the headlines to be BIGGER. That means re-adjusting EVERYTHING to accommodate the space the new headlines are going to take up. At this point I'm making the changes SIMPLY because I'm too fucking nice. I'm not even hoping for a reference out of this. Motherfucking shit. |

I was rather disappointed with the last half of it, to be completely honest. I mean, I like Near, but it got so convoluted and well, I'm not going to launch into spoilers.

Anyway, here's a great big FUCK YOU VERY MUCH to my Auntie Beth, my mom's sister who stole all of my grandmother's money, put it into her own bank account, and made herself the irrevocable executor of the estate. Apparently she admitted to my mom that she's already spent half the money. She's got a SERIOUS gambling problem. Most of the presents I ever get from her for holidays and birthdays are merchandise from Indian casinos. Since she finally got her way and got us to put my grandma's up for sale, I've been stuck at the house trying to help sort through her things while this aunt sits there and instructs Brandon to load various things into her car. She even brought her friend who took things too. I've brought all this up to my parents and they're just so tired of dealing with her that the sooner the house is sold the sooner they can cut ties with her. Since my grandmother hasn't been living her house for more than a year now, my parents were the ones doing the upkeep (mowing the lawn, pruning hedges, watering plants, etc). Apparently when my aunt was there a couple days ago talking with my parents and the realtor she snidely said, "I watered the plants." And my mom, the most passive, kindest person imaginable goes, "It's about time you did something!" 
So yeah, fuck my aunt, my unemployed, lazy cousin, her dead-beat, smokes-like-a-chimney, uninvolved husband, her gambling habit, her shit-filled house of squalor, her greed, her 20 chihuahuas that all live in the house and piss and shit everywhere and that my grandmother (who always comes to us Friday morning reeking of her own piss and shit SINCE THEY NEVER FUCKING BATHE HER) is living with it, and above all fuck the fact that none of us are willing to go to court to try to stop her because we're more worried about family than money (at least this part of the family anyway). Yeah, it's Arizona's Renaissance Faire. The other two pictures were taken at a steampunk con, also in Arizona, that same weekend. Both events had the perfect settings. The steampunk thing, Wild Wild West Con, was at these old movie studios where a lot of Westerns were shot, and their Renaissance faire has AWESOME permanent structures. This man filed for divorce. He came to, having been drugged, to find himself tied to his bed with his soon-to-be ex-wife standing over him with a kitchen knife. She proceeded to cut his penis off with and snidely say he deserved it, and then... THEN... she stuck the severed member in the garbage disposal. So it can never be re-attached. Not being a penis-owner myself, I still felt... well... weirded out. I mean, I've always had this phobia of amputations. I REALLY couldn't handle watching Civil War documentaries that spoke of it in detail. I also can't handle the implications of it in most films. Like I just feel squeamish. And the idea that she destroyed it and turned it into ground meat was just so traumatizing, I'm sure. I think the idea that there could be a fate worse than death is the notion that something happening to a person could be so traumatizing, so mentally, emotionally, and spiritually destructive, that they'd just rather die than live with themselves any longer. Undergoing torture could be considered far worse than death. Perhaps being used in mad science experiments, even. I know when I first heard the premise of The Human Centipede I thought I'd rather just kill myself than go through that.

So I've been editing old photos all day and watching Wild West documentaries (an era I've always found extremely fascinating), and I'm realizing that most of the photos are of my boyfriend and I at various historical re-enactment events (Civil War, Renaissance faires, Old West ghost towns, Dickens Festival, Native American powwows, museums of every kind, etc).

Over the last few days I've gone through a winding down on my issues with Beth. The other day Brandon and I ended up at my grandmother's packing things up and helping them get the furniture out. It's been obnoxious in its own way, but at the same time, all this has done is made me feel sorry for Lola. It's not that she needs the money from the sale of her house or anything, but I'm sure it hurts to see all of her things being divvied up as though she were dead and all that mattered was how much one could get for these things.

The last time I saw her she was near crying and telling me that I really should take a few things because they'd be better off at my house (my aunt is notorious for taking way more than she needs and then letting it rot in her house, garage, or backyard, just so she can have the pleasure of knowing you DON'T have it). She also started crying that she thinks she's going crazy because she doesn't understand anything any more. She didn't come to our house this weekend because she supposedly didn't want to. I'm sure it's more than my aunt was aware that I'm paid to stay home on Fridays to watch her so she'd rather I wasn't paid at all. If this is the attitude, I'm glad I'm getting a job that will probably take up Fridays. At this point, I really don't know what to do other than try to look forward to leaving the country in October. Anyway... Fuck Facebook ads. For the past few months, EVERY freaking time I'm signed on there's an ad on the side for engagement rings. EVERY time. WHY?! It's not like I'm posting about engagements or that any of my friends are. Does it notice that I've been in a relationship for 7 years? First off, I'm NOT interested. I've clicked all their stupid boxes saying so. I've even written in that I'm not interested in that right now in the stupid optional box. Now I'm just clicking "Offensive." Secondly, isn't it traditionally the man's place to go out and spend an exorbitant amount of money on a ring?
