So I'm sure you guys have heard that they're re-making Conan, previously starring California's former governor. Heh.

Anyway, here's the trailer:

And here's the latest red band clip posted. Conan earns his way into training with the warriors of his village:

I dunno. I'm definitely going to see it in the cheap theater. I love movies that have nothing much going for them other than action.

Still, it has Ron Pearlman in it, and I adore him. This looks like it'll at least be fun to watch.

My thoughts exactly. We were also trying to get rid of unnecessary letters when creating our own dictionaries in the post-Revolution America. Ain't history neat?

Also, English is a Germanic language and not an entirely original language conceived in Brittania.

Also, I have heard the word "deplane," but only used by flight attendants and airport employees.

Or do what San Francisco did and unearth everyone and re-bury them in Colma.

Colma - the city with more people below the ground than above it. (Also where you can find Wyatt Earp, Emperor Norton I, and Levi Strauss ).

Anyway, here's a bunch of pictures I mentioned in the original post. This is only a few of the events I went to or took part in between March and May:

Ack, I suddenly noticed a typo in my last post. That should have read English is NOT an entirely original language conceived in Brittania.

Yeah, I think they started using "deplane" referring to unloading passengers. "Unloading" sounds like people are cargo, and "disembark" sounds like the plane is departing. I don't think it's the official lingo, but rather something that's just sort of spread in that industry.

I dunno. Language is an ever shifting, ever evolving (perhaps even devolving) thing. I mean, the Oxford English Dictionary, which originates in England, keeps including words (and even symbols and acronyms) that the rest of us are somewhat confused about regarding their inclusion.

- Typical bombastic Hollywood soundtrack
- Slapstick comedy
- One of the most boring, cliche', and pointless romances I've ever seen. I also hated how Thor's personality changed overnight. Sure, a lot happened... I guess.

I love Thor, and was extremely underwhelmed. But I'm really just losing interest in Marvel's movies in general thesedays to be honest.

So I finally saw Thor, and honestly I agree on all counts.

The ONLY thing I got excited for was the hinting that SHIELD already had Hawkeye.

I think the only times I found the movie enjoyable were when he lost his powers to when the Destroyer showed up. Seemed like when he was Thor, all powered up and everything, I really didn't give a shit. Oddly enough despite predicting the gag with him walking behind their car, I still laughed like a goon.

Loki's story was just so convoluted.

And Thor's friends were USELESS. While I'm a big fan of diversity, why was there this Japanese samurai-type guy (accent and everything) among the warriors of Asgard?

And that after-the-credits scene? Was that AT ALL exciting? When I saw it in the theater all the fanboys (including those who went, "Sam Jackson!") all collectively went, "Whaaaaat?" when it concluded.

You can hear them all doing it in this video too:

I'm used to those ending with all the fanboys pissing their pants in enthusiasm after the credits. NO ONE CARED.

My best guess is the thing in the briefcase alluded to Red Skull or someone like him being in the Avengers movie. Either way, I was hoping for an Antman/Wasp cameo or SOMETHING.

I've owned other hats, but right now I can only think of one -- my black, suede top hat. It ACTUALLY fits on my head, for one thing. Right now it's bedecked with my antique aviator goggles and pheasant feathers. I bought it at a steampunk convention in Arizona, and it's surprisingly shady despite not having an extraordinarily wide brim.

I'm wearing it in several of the photos of me I would count among my favorites.

I'm also wearing it in scenes of "The Guild" I was an extra for.

Egad, my answers are always way too long.

Thank you, amateur novella authors who post your work online. Your cheesy romances and surprisingly epic sagas and dramas are my brain's comfort food.

Thank you, free Shakespeare-in-the-park companies in my area. I can't believe there are so many of you, and you're all putting on performances, spreading some culture and providing entertainment, without expecting more than hoping some people would donate a few bucks. You guys are amazing (well, in your willingness to perform for free, not necessarily in terms of talent).

Granted, but then Rogue and Hunter are mauled by a pack of ferocious, bow-legged chipmunks. Oh, if only their claws had grown back in time to defend themselves.

Hm, oddest that I've seen and actually tried would probably be this one that's offered at this pizza buffet (not CiCi's, I think it was John's Incredible Pizza) where put whole peanuts (shell and all) on the pizza. I don't remember thinking it was great, but it wasn't incredibly awful.

Otherwise, I'm not sure.

What's the worst story you've ever read and why was it the worst?

EDIT: Story referring to fiction, novels, fairy tales, etc. Not to be confused with news stories or something of the like.

Yeah, I didn't see anything wrong with your brother's post. It was a bit stream-of-consciousness-y but hey, he at least was trying to think of something constructive to add.

As for that friend of yours, hahahahahahaha.

So this guy managed to bomb a building in Norway, and then head over to this island where he proceeded to shoot-up a youth organization.

Norway attacks: Details emerge in Oslo bombing, camp shooting

The shooting spree at a youth camp lasted an hour and a half as Norwegian police struggled to access the camp by boat, police officials say at a news conference. Police also confirm a car bomb caused the explosion outside a government building in Oslo.

By Ann M. Simmons and Henry Chu Los Angeles Times
July 23, 2011, 10:43 a.m.

The gunman who went on a shooting rampage at a youth camp on an island near Olso on Friday fired shots from two weapons for an hour and a half before surrendering to authorities, Norwegian police officials said Saturday.

It took police 40 minutes to get on the island after Anders Behring Breivik began shooting, Police Chief Sveinung Sponheim said at a news conference. He told reporters that police officials had responded as "quickly as possible" but there were problems getting boats to transport officials to Utoya Island, where the Worker's Youth League, the youth wing of Norway's Labor Party, was attending an annual gathering.

The shootings came after a bomb explosion outside a government building in Oslo that police confirmed was caused by a car bomb. Sponheim said a witness saw the vehicle standing for a long time outside the building.

Of the 92 people confirmed dead in the twin attacks, 85 were shot and seven died as a result of the blast, Sponheim said. Police said that four or five were known to be missing in the attacks. Sponheim told reporters that body parts had been discovered in the buildings at the epicenter of the explosion.

Police officials said that Breivik did not resist arrest when police caught up with him.

"He put down his weapons," Sponheim told reporters. "It was undramatic."

No other guns or knives were found, the police chief added.

He would not confirm whether authorities were searching for another assailant. It's also unclear whether Breivik was part of a larger network, Sponheim said.

Breivik, who is in custody, was speaking with police, Sponheim said. But he has retained a lawyer.

The sad fact is I only heard about this today, buried under stories about Amy Winehouse's overdose.

I mean, hey, I respected her as an artist, but this shit should have been top story.

I honestly don't remember; however, some of my earliest memories were of flying to and from Hawaii when I was 3. Supposedly my parents took me when I was younger, though.

I have to rack my brain on this one, especially since Brandon's Netflix queue is just loaded with bad movies (if we could afford it we would take it off hiatus and resume the insanity). Hm, there's so many bad, gory Japanese films that come to mind, but they had the occasional WTF scene that was worth a laugh or what have you. Even Shark Attack 3: Megalodon, which is probably the worst movie I've ever seen still has the redeeming quality of being so bad it's hilarious.

OK, it's probably not the worst, but I've got to pick something, so... Womb Raider. We got if off Netflix a ways back out of curiosity. It's softcore porn. Pretty much Lara Croft Cara Loft has to get through this mediocre story by fingerbanging girls from behind. No men (at least no fake sex involving them), and it all just looks awkward and sad.

What's your favorite play?
