Cai..i am cocky for one reason: I have NEVER been beaten in a real fight. Ten years..zero losses. And i've fought some of the best.

However, i have high hopes for you. I've heard that you're quite the talent.

I read through every battle i could find for those i was told/believed were at least semi-skilled.

"So you know, certain others are not pleased with your predictions, and will fight even harder now"

Good. I want them fighting as hard as they can.

As for the people i've fought (or known)..you wouldn't know the names. Wolfgang? Killiak? Pandora? Shokai? Snake Eyes? Osiris? I know you won't know the name Zemonoth...which is just as well. His entire clan fled from Shin-Ra...and his ability for reality and temporal manipulation was nearly second to none. The only name you would be rather familiar with is Kale. As for how many i have fought...more than even my Shin-Ra crew knows. Certainly more than your sim-section presently holds..or probably ever held, to be truthful.

As for my skill...my descriptive posts are only a small part of it. Melee, i have incorporated almost all of my knowledge of combat with edged weaponry in Night. That includes a derivation of iiado, a completely unique swordstyle developed around his attributes, and various other things (including an almost complete knowledge of seal-based knife combat. Not the watered down Kali bullshit either. I have virtually the same training with a knife as any Seal today...and i can use that knowledge quite well).

Magic wise...i have a heavy background in the quote-unquote "Occult" and a decent knowledge of certain advanced energy theories, as well as your usual gambit of quantum/chaos/dimensional theories. My experience with writing magic-based fantasy doesn't hurt either.

From what i can find on your character, his power is middle-class at best. Your writing and displayed combat skill is above-par, but based on the one battle i found it is nothing i haven't seen before. I originally had NO intention of saying anything like this..hell, i was handing out complements to fellow participants. But i'm going to be completely honest. Unless you were holding back roughly 95% of your overall skill, you don't have a chance.

I'd like to apologize to the mods of this forum, and to Leon...but i have never been one who refuses to defend himself.

Shu: Night is an energy-absorber at his most pure. In fact, the highest class of one imaginable. I rarely use the ability in his first few forms, however. As for elements..check the element thread in discussion. I fight fairly..but from time to time, i will be likely to..turn the tables, so to speak, when it comes to element-based magic. Remember though..element-based spells are one type of many.

You assume that i'm using an average knife/blade, heh. Between the Quadra Blade, Energy Cyllander, and especially "Auraka", your armor will be put to quite the test. I suppose mine will as well..though i somehow doubt most people here have the knowledge to break through it. Not the skill, mind you..but it takes more than skill to even come close to beating this character.

I know the rules..no teleportation to avoid attacks..no summons..no extreme healing on the fly..so on. I have no need of any of that. Two of my weapons are sentient, and one has full freedom of movement on its own. With Nights speed, short-range teleportation is pointless. (Yes...he can easily exceed "light" speeds. Over 1,000,000,000 feet a second. I just hope no one here tries to hit those speeds in their fight with me. I assume you all know the consequinces of attaining similar velocities?)

Des..i want you to do me a favor. Bring EVERYTHING you have to this fight. I'm going to be honest..i want you to beat me. I want you to be better. I've been the quote-unquote "best" for too long..it is starting to get boring. So kick my ass, if you have the talent. Your apparent ability for finding openings in well-written attacks shows me that you have some..i just hope you have more.

(I've listed a few weapons here. Anyone in the tourny can feel free to PM me requesting info on Auraka, the Quadra Blade, the Energy Cyllander, the Chaos Gauntlet, and my armor...provided they are willing to provide similar information, of course.)

Nice concept Cyro.

Of course, you'll have to be careful how you use it. I'm not talking about abuse..it is just something that an opponent could easily use to gain an advantage.

We should get together and talk theories sometime. You seem to "know your shit".

Hell..Night can block absolutely anything if he wants to. Deflect absolutely any physical attack, fully REFLECT any magic/energy...but i don't. Simply too cheap. If an opponent is intelligent enough to toss out a move that COULD hit me without me bordering on modding..i give it to him/her. Only fair.

As for weakness...Night's first few forms have three, actually...though all of them are next to impossible to use unless you know how. His final form has a weakness as well. A fight-ending weakness. But..if you manage to LIVE to see his last form, you still have a roughly 1/10000 chance of surviving long enough to use it. Assuming you know what it is, of course.

Cai...if we wind up fighting, i suggest being very careful with over-dodging. I have more than a few moves that your character would find next to impossible to avoid. Actually..this goes for everyone. With the amount of theoretical knowledge on this forum..one Quantum Nova and the fight is done. It is a move that CAN be stopped...but you'd have to be damned near a genius to do it, with an ultra-power character to boot. And unless you have said knowledge/character..you will not be evading it.

Indeed Revo. There is a difference between evading an attack and dodging to the side every post. No matter..such things can be dealt with.

On a side note..you are Shin-Ra. Since you are part of the orginization..perhaps i could offer a few upgrades to those mechs of yours for the tourny.

It shows that people are too damned weak to face the most likely possibilities of life and the afterlife.

It shows that they NEED something to follow, some symbol to give them strength and hope.

It shows that they are incapable of believing in themselves as true human beings, and thus have to fight against that fact with the "aid" of some ficticious higher power.

Actually, i'm currently working my ass off. Someone decided to quit with NO notice, so i'm covering both their shifts and my own. On a good day, i'm clocking 13.5 hours.

I'm going to need an extention. I go into work at 2 PM monday, and i will be having someone with me to help close (about damned time too). I won't be able to get a post up until then.

Ahh..great. Extention granted. And better yet, i managed to weasel my way into a 2pm-5pm day tomorrow (first day in a while i won't be 10 am-12 am).

It is currently half past three..so i obviously won't be posting ahead of schedule. But i managed to get three rough paragraphs written up tonight...so don't you worry. This fight will NOT be cancelled. Oh..i'll try to keep it on the short side.

From above, it was almost beautiful. Streaks of azure and green that burst through a crowning sphere of hazy white, dazzling patterns and shapes that the poor souls below would never behold. It was a uniquely beautiful planet. And a uniquely bare planet.

There were energies, of course. There always were. But there was nothing that called out. Nothing that screamed out through the distance "Here i am! I am what the weak fear and the strong worship! I am to be felt!"

"No matter" he said quietly to himself. Perhaps there were no great powers...but below, on that particular looking patch of green, a gathering had begun. Strength or no strength...power or no power...conquest was conquest.

From the insurmountable blackness of space, he descended.

Flame spread across his darkened form, heat beyond reckoning. Gravity..friction..the sharp scent of burnt atmosphere..and then he was below that hazy white, gazing steadly down towards his goal. Even from there he could see it..a circle of stone, and a man who stood within.

"The first round of fights will take place on this circular ring of stone, no restrictions on where you may go. Our cameras will moniter everything that transpires between you both......MAY THE BEST FIGHTER WIN

Desroth versus Night!"

He smiled. Already they awaited him. Men and woman had gathered to be witness to conflict...and a man of silver and white stood in anticipation of his own demise. All in all, it was rather amusing. There they were, all but welcoming him with open arms...a being that was, unknown to them, making a return visit. From his perch high above the gathering he could see what had become of the little orb...the lengths to which his experiment had progressed. For a brief moment, he wondered if they still used the name Lucifer. The next, he knew to what extent they did. It was fitting, really.

With these thoughts lingering he redoubled his downward plummet. Closer the stone circle grew..closer still...

The impact was deafening. For a moment the arena was filled with thick, cloud-like smoke, and as it cleared the vauge silhouette of a figure came into view. A man of average height and build...nothing spectacular, or even notible. But as the last of the haze faded, it became clear that neither of those words held true. The crowd, previously silent in a unanimous held breath, sighed equally unanimous "ohh"s.

There was no crator, no burnt earth, not a single sign of the thunderous strike that had taken place seconds before. Only a "man" covered from head to toe in a midnight cloak, every hint of his face hidden within the shadows of a raised hood. Thin tendrils of steam rose from the black fabric..or rather, from around it. The etheric wisps flowed less than half an inch above the being..but, as if in fear of its very presence, avoided the touch of the cloak.

"Allow me introduce myself." the figure spoke abruptly, its voice deep and surprisingly clear.

"I am God."

Beneath his hood, he grinned. A grand joke indeed...though it had been true since shortly after the world's birth.

He turned towards "Desroth", unseen eyes moving casually over him in appraisment.

"Hello there, boy. You're first this time around, eh? Well then..get moving."

"Calling me a boy? Oh well, no use crying over spilled milk I would guess. You must be from the Ancient Kingdom, not many can fall like that and not scorch or break the ground. So, your Night huh? Not very awe inspiring to me, but looks arent everything.. I guess you can make the first move since it took you so long to get here..."

Beneath the masking shadows of his hood, Night grinned.

"Ancient Kingdom...something like that, yes."

A small, deep laugh, little more than a chuckle, filled the arena. Ancient Kingdom indeed. It was obvious that Normantious' tale had not yet reached this place. After all, they thought him some ancient demon...how quaint.

Another quick glance at the crowd..this time, something caught his eye. A rather "attractive" woman with brown and honey blond hair who lingered closer to the arena than the rest. Ayla Strife.

In what seemed like a single step, the blink of an eye, he closed the gap between them and stood face to face with the woman. With equal speed his right hand shot out, a blur of black and gold, and was around her neck.

The next instant, it was gone. Ayla stood unharmed...but not unchanged. A thin gold chain hung 'round her graceful neck, drawn downwards by an eight-pointed star of transparent blue crystal that now sat just below her throat.

"A gift. Stand back now, Ayla...we wouldn't want our announcer caught in wayward magics, now would we?"

Quite shaken, she did not stop to protest. She simply disappeared within the silenced masses, carefully fingering the small pendant as she went.

Another blink and Night stood as he did before, facing the man known as Desroth. Once more his right hand thrust forward, stopping half-extended towards his foe. Removed from his cloak, it was revealed to be covered in strangely organic golden metal, thick rune-covered strands like roots of an ancient oak that wound their way into the inky black of the concealing fabric. Within that blackness, set perfectly on his forearm, rings within rings of colored stones flashed. After a moment they ceased, all but two fading to slightly hued grey. A single gem the intense orange and red of flame...and a single gem the haunting shade of the abyss.

'Fire, is it? And...well look at that. Well now boy...how would you like to live forever?"

Another laugh.

Night moved his hand to the left, palm inwards, just above his shoulder. A small orb of light blue energy gathered at each fingertip, slowly rippling and churning. Though almost impossible to percieve each sphere ebbed and flowed as the tide, marked with countless small breakers and waves. He spread his fingers and addressed his foe once more.

"Never mind."

With that he swept his hand outward towards Desroth. As it travelled a thin, wide blade of light azure energy trailed, streaking the air in the wake of his gauntlet. The sweep halted just past his right shoulder, and as it did the five blades spread and were released.

(Technical info: Five blades of water or "aqua" energy. Stacked roughly 1 1/2 feet apart, and roughly 7 1/2 feet high. Width is 14 feet across. Speed is sub-sonic, roughly 400 fps (feet per second). This isn't really a "power" attack...in fact, a few inches of properly mixed/forged mythril would reduce them to nothing but a rather painful blunt impact (and some rather poor-looking armor after impact). Anything less...it slices, it dices, and it really, really kills you. Theoretically. By the way...i hope you realize the limitations of a Diamond defense. Whether real diamond or simply enchanted to offer similar protection..it is severely lacking. Your average .45 round could easily clear the brunt of 2 inches, if not completely penetrate..and these things pack significantly more of a punch.)

(Leon..no physical harm, and the necklace has absolutely no negative effect. Hell..it has no effect on her at all. Not an attack, and thus a DQ will not be required.)

Not bad..not bad at all.

I'd suggest around 6 belts total. Some for obscure challenges (such as Cyro suggested) and some for actual rank. The way it is set up now..well..a certian vampire holds the legendary title. To me, this seems to be the "big one"..the most desirable belt. Said vampire is one of the best "default" RPers you guys have, so it is right that he possess it. Someone like...Vulkar should not.

3-4 title belts should reflect the skill of those who possess them. The owner of "Champion", "Legendary", or "Ultimate" should be considered the best of the best, until he is beaten.

Well..you get the idea.

I'd just like to clarify something involving speed..namely, the speed of light.

In a sim battle, it is virtually impossible to reach said speed.

A: It is roughly 299,700,000 meters per second (over 1,000,000,000 fps). There are very few physical objects/bodies than can survive 1/10th of this.

B: It would require all the energy in the universe to accelerate something the size of a human being to the speed of light. Literally. Even if someone could draw on that much energy, they would attain infinite mass the instant they hit said speed. After depleting that much energy, there is absolutely no way to slow down. Infinite mass + the speed of light + no energy left in the universe/the person moving = the rest of your natural life moving in one direction at the speed of light.

C: Not only would it require all the energy in the universe..but it would destroy the universe. The shockwaves produced by the acceleration would destroy whatever planet you happened to be on LONG before you hit light speed. If you actually managed to, the ripple effect of said shockwaves and energy output would destroy absolutely everything. The same holds true for a physical object..even something as small as a knife/bullet.

I'm bringing this up because i see quite a few people around here playing with insane speed. It is obvious that they do not realize what effect their actions would actually have.

For referrence:

Speed of sound: 331 meters per second. (roughly 1000 feet)

Speed of Light: 299,702,547 meters per second. (over 1,000,000,000 feet)

An average .45 ACP round moves at roughly 900 fps.

In order to dodge an average .45 bullet you have to move at nine hundred feet PER SECOND. Over one thousand feet to reach super-sonic speeds. Over NINE HUNDRED THOUSAND times that to hit light speed.

Also be aware that, based on the most accurate formulas i can find, whipping your head to the side faster than a bullet will generate around SEVEN HUNDRED G's. I wonder what would happen if your head was moving to the side with that kind of acceleration and suddenly weighed 700 times what it usually does?

The unprotected human body can withstand an average of 4 Gs. 30-40 Gs are bone-crushing. Human beings HAVE survived over 100 Gs, but only with proper protection. And there was a cost. One of the few men to manage it broke 26 various bones, was crippled, and went partially blind. Let's say your character is 20x as strong as a human. You can take an average of 80 Gs. before loosing consciousness. At TWENTY TIMES the durability of a VERY physically fit human.

Easy formula for determining G force: 10 m/s2. For every 10 meters/second you are moving, you are experiencing one G force. A meter equals 3.4 feet. This ios a VERY ROUGH estmate, and does not take the speed of acceleration into account. It is designed to give you a basic idea only. The above figures have been calulated using mean averages to get slightly more accurate results.

Just something to bear in mind.

I gave my predictions based only on the sims/characters posted in this forum. I'm not going to rant about my experience or any such thing..i'm simply going to say that they were based on general observations, and may VERY WELL be wrong. No insult was meant to anyone.

Shanan...though my vote doesn't count for much 'round these parts, you have it for every idea you posted. The Adventure Belt DOES have a bit of potential for abuse, however.

Absolutely...certain characters could attain it.

I am NOT trying to suggest a "No light-speed" rule or anything similar, should anyone reading this suspect as much. I am simply pointing out that, even if a character CAN reach these speeds, there are heavy consequinces. I doubt many of you have had the time to look into them...so look no farther. (Everything in the original post can be varified by each of you with a little research.)

Next time someone starts irritating any of you by blazing around at light-speed...simply refer back to this thread, point him here, and grin while he edits his post.

I'm right there with you Xeo.

After 13 hours of non-stop work i'd like to FIND someone who's fasting and raid their goddamned fridge.

It goes something like this: Look god/buddah/blessed virgin/mohammed/unicorn/that guy from "Step by step", i can prove i believe in you by not eating!

Said deity: W..wait. I made the damned food. Eat it.

My personal opinion. It is just another pointless attempt to prove your faith. If you need to prove it by not eating..why bother with it in the first place.

(I'm not trying to insult the follows of this practice..it just seems pointless to me. Your deity made the food for the sole purpose of eating it. *Shrugs*)

I'd like to go ahead and give my support for the extention as his opponent. As far as i'm concerned, he can take as long as he needs.

I know how unexpected things can disrupt a fight like this. Get back to it when you can Des..otherwise, no worries.
