Anyway the point I was trying to make was that Sodom and Gomorra may have been destroyed for many other reasons than homosexuality even according to the bible. Rape, horrible treatment of guests to the town (even if they werent intending to rape they were not being civil according to the society to Lot or the angels), devil possesion, etc. As for people going to hell just for not believing....*shrug* From an athiest's point of view it helps to create a sense of superiority in the followers that leads to wars, conquering, and generally less favorable treatment to the unbelievers which leads to that religion having more likelyhood of remaining for a long time or spreading which make them popular religions whicht then leads to more attitude and the cycle continues. | It is frightening as an athiest to think about death. I have no idea what will come if anything. There are so many religions who tell me I am going to a horrible place because I do not follow there rules or I do not believe in their divinitie(s). Part of me wants to take up religion just to not have to be scared anymore. I really like Buddism,a few forms of animism, Hinduism if only for their ideas of reincarnation and/or peacefull natures. But why would I believe? Only to quell the fear, not because I really do believe. Religions never seem to make sense to me when they are dogmatic and hatefilled, preaching about the "sinners" and faith instead of just trying to help people. Why do people go door to door to recruite people into their religions? They arent respecting me and my believes, why should I join theirs? (sigh) | |||

| You can do blood tranfusions with patients who volunteer. Hemophiliacs who get blood transfusions regulary could give conscious consent if asked.
There was no reason to use artificial blood on unconcious patients. O+ blood can be used on anyone at least enought to save a persons life. Tests can then verify which blood type the person is and the doctors can then pull out the more specified blood. That is why O+ blood is so desired by the Red Cross. It works with EVERYONE. Whether or not there were sideeffects doesnt matter. The doctor is supposed to consider the wishes of their patients. I know I dont want my doctor doing anything to me without my consent. |

| Personally I think as a high level politician you should always act in a lawful or at least decent manner. But no politicians really do now adays, including Cheney and Gore. They live in decadence as celebrities do. And they get away with it and always will. I dont like Bush. I used to like Cheney as he seemed blunt and honest. I dont know much about Gore and I agree with Lewis Black when he described the 2004 presidential elections as, "Having to choose between two bowls of shit." Politians suck. Politics suck. *sigh*
That teacher shouldnt have failed you. If she did it in honesty because you are white then she is as bad as any bigoted white asshole and the hypocrisy of claiming to be angry about how you are discriminated against while discriminating others is childish and dumb. I like the idea Morgan Freeman had that there should not be a separtation of histories by race. There should be no Black History or White History it should be our history. Ties in with the idea of equality in grading in that we are all together now. Blacks separating themselves from whites is just as bad as whites separating themselves from blacks. It doesnt create anything but hostility and misunderstanding. |

| Pretty selfish to want to kill your dog, just because maybe they can revive you and the pooch in the future.
Freezing means that the water in your cells and blood will expand. That expanding basically rips you appart from the inside as some of the water will have less solvents in it and will freeze quicker and break through whatever is containing them. Imagine haveing millions of points of damage everywhere (including to your DNA strands). They havent figured out how to prevent that yet. That is why they study frogs and other creatures that can freeze solid and live. Maybe in the way, way, way future they could fix all that damage...but what if they cant? Or what if the future isnt all peacefull and nice and people have time to remember the frozen corpses? It looks like we may be verging on WWIII. Wanna take a bet on how much importance already dead people will have in a nuclear war? Or how much power are we going to waste keeping them frozen? Seriously... |

We do some really cruel and unusual things to the creatures we eat and/or call pets. (My neighbors made a pet of their cow and then ate it. ) Veal is baby cows that have lived on a liquid diet their whole lives in horrible cramped conditions. The fact that "free range" animals can legally be outside only five minutes a day and still be called "free range". The fact that organizations will freak out about this guy but not make living conditions for our livestock better is the most ridiculous thing. Plus Zoos kill rodents, doves and a multitude of other animals by drowning them or breaking their necks so that they will pose no risk to the predatory animals. Why not freak out at them?
We are a sick culture that likes to remove ourselves from the fact that what we eat once was alive. Pigs are smarter than most dogs. We still like pork. I like honey cooked ham. Part of me knows that that animal had to die for me to eat it, but I have never seen that animal, never talked with it or faught it. I think if we had to kill what we eat we would be more likely to become vegans. Which to be honest with you is more economical anyway. It takes roughly 5 lbs of grain to make every lb of cow. And we could just eat the grain first. *shrug* |

| a complex coctail of non-alcoholic things. I am an Athiest Evolutionist who will believe something else when it has proof when it comes around. I am technically liberal. I dont like politians and politics. I believe that America is home of the currupt and the dumb (not saying other countries arent, just saying America is).
I would like to pick up an animistic belief system like Shinto, but I know that I really wouldnt believe no matter how cool it was and that would be disrespectful to the religion. I dont believe in souls or ghosts as no one has proved it to me. And I dont want to believe in ghosts. Too creepy and I already have a weird paranoid phobia about Zombies (which I also dont believe in). I dont want to believe in a "good" and a "bad" place after we die, because then I am probably going to the "bad" place as I have no frickin' idea how to earn the "good" place and almost every major religions says I go to the "bad" one. Other than that you can ask me and I will answer. |

| I spent all of last year thinking about sex and sexual relationships. I am still totally confused. The only thing that I can honestly say is that it really hurt me when my friends had sex before marriage when they said that they would wait. If they were willing to break their word to themselves and each other, if they were willing to throw out their beliefs for sex, what does that say? Is sex that important or is it that they werent strong people? I am still so confused. I had at least 2 friends tell me they had sex before marriage in a month and it wrecked my mind for weeks after. (each of their partners was my friend too and out of those four friends 3 supposedly were going to wait). I dont hate my friends and I dont hold it against them but I really dont like the whole loss of integrity that came with it. I can understand if they went into the relationship with the idea that it was okay, but not if they just decide to have sex and make it right.I am so totally confused. And it really confuses me about my roughly celibate relationship with my bf, whom I plan to marry when we can afford it.
