Xanath grew angry at this doctor's insolence. Most city-dwellers acted like this, with an air of false superiority that sickened him to his gut.

"Listen, my job is to guide people through these lands. I have far from explored every inch. Also, the desert plays tricks on the mind that makes navigating it difficult. There was a sandstorm the other day, so my usual route is hidden. Also, the Kamu rarely leave past their boundaries, unless of religious or military purposes. That tall pillar of stone marks the borders around their city. Besides that, this area has no other visible landmarks I can use to discover our direction.

That, city-dweller, is why we are lost. If you act with such disrespect towards me again, do not think for a moment I will not leave you to die in the sands."

Ken walked over. "Relax, Xanath. This man, along with all of us, has undergone a lot of stress for the past two days, enough to make most snap. I am sure sleep deprivation gives his tongue the bitter edge it carries now, and not true ill will."

XD Xeo, you always go to such lengths to make it difficult for us to know what you look like. There's a puzzle or a contest each time you decide to show us what you look like.

So, in honor of Xeo's puzzle, I am going to give you guys a picture of me, but with a catch!

WHICH ONE IS ME?

Everything you see and know is an illusion. We currently reside in what is a restrained dream world where we believe we are in the 19th century. Morpheus and crew can show you this. Just listen to his rants, and eat all the pills he gives you.

Ting, on the other hand. Doesn't want much. He wants to retrieve the head of a revered statue from his home town, and he will break bones and faces to do so. His mastery of Muay Thai is terrifying, to be sure. Can Morpheus and his downloaded dojo skills stand up to the might of this Thailand tank?

Leonardo is the sword swinging mutant from the gang of humanoid turtle men affectionately known as the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Leonardo is the cool-headed leader of the pack, dedicated to wielding his two katana which do not make people bleed, and takes the words of his sensei very seriously.

Harry Potter is the Chosen One, He-Who-Kicked-He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named's-Ass-As-A-Baby. He's had a long, hard life since those days when the dreaded noseless villain blew his parents up and gave him a nasty burn on the forehead. He's learned a lot of magic to help him on his quest, and he is by no means a pushover.

Who would win this fictitious battle of wits and might?

"Alright, I understand your point, but if I can lead you all through this desert before night falls, then I shall."

Xanath looked around, concentrating deeply. In his mind, he replayed every step they had taken with a form of memory-based astral projection, and found back to the cliffs. He did a small amount of thinking, and after truly focusing, he felt he had regained his sense of direction.

"We march that way."

The group marched on, hoping to find the road once hidden by a sandstorm. They did, after a good 20 minutes of walking, which came to the relief of all. As they walked down the path, Ken mostly kept to himself. Deep to himself, he was daydreaming on the story of the legendary Siorius Zatenrai, descendant of the Zatenrai throne, whose death in the First Terran Civil War ended the war and brought peace back to the land.

He had been told the story many times.

OOC: No need to read, this was more for Ken's character development then for the plot. If you wish to know some Terran lore, as well as some of Ken's personal dreams and aspirations, feel free to read though. If not, just skip on down to the next line break.

Daydream: Deep within a castle, Siorius stood, surrounded by his most loyal vassals. They waited with weapons at the ready, eying up a large wooden doorway. They had been trapped in the Imperial Castle, surrounded by enemy troops. The main army was on its way from the Jade Forest, but the deed would be over long before they came. Siorius had only 5 men, strong men regardless, but 5 versus thousands seemed suicidal. So they waited here, in a nameless room of the palace, waiting intently for the enemy to find them.

Siorius' personal guard had left to escort his wife far from harm. She was with child, and he would never see her harmed. He sat with blade in hand, thinking of his unborn child, Apollo. He wished to see him grow into a true king, but alas, it would be beyond his time. These were his final hours.

Dallan, his Earth Totem vassal, spoke to him in a loud voice, breaking his mind's wanderings. "Sir, they approach!" He knew he was meant to live for this. His men crammed at the door, trying to save its rusty hinges from the force of the slamming waves of earth crashing upon it. He sat and stared, his mouth agape. His soul had departed many moments ago.

His men turned to him, and fearing the worst, sent one to shake his resolve. He awoke to their voice, just in time to see flying shards of wood fly out. The door was broken. Before him stood hundreds of mens, with spears and swords, at the ready.

And everything was quiet. Apparently, these invaders thought Siorius a coward, and that he would beg for their lives. They had no need to move in. Siorius' vassals turned to him, seeking his words. Each would die given the command.

Siorius felt the eyes of all upon him, and as though in a dream, he stepped into the large gap between the two forces. He looked at his men intently, then turned and looked at the enemy army with no emotion or seeming being with him. He laid down his spear, and sheathed his sword. Looking down, his men accepted defeat at that point.

But suddenly, something brave and fearless appeared in the king's eyes. He called upon the powers of Terramorphus, and the shards of wood began to float in the air, facing the enemies. "Men, I wouldn't ask this of you, but my end is here."

He launched the spikes into the enemy crowd, hitting quite a few. In a renewed fury, the enemy crowd charged, seeking blood. The king drew his blade, preparing to die, when a flurry of elements blew away the charging troops. His vassals stood aside him, readying bow, sword, spear and axe. And so, the 6 Terrans charged fearlessly through the crowd, taking down many. The fighting lasted for almost an hour with no casulties, the pure might of these enough to hold off the rebellious masses. Those that once believed Siorius a worthless waste of a king now stood in fear and awe of his might, like the gods had blessed him.

And that is when the true might of the giant army came down upon the 6. The enemy's champion, a Terran said to be the deadliest Terramorphus wielder of all time, came from behind the ranks and challenged the 6 to a fight to the finish. His name was Neoprene. They accepted, and found themselves with a massive disadvantage. Kira, the lovely but vicious archer who once led the Royal Archers, was killed instantly. Her lover, Gavan, drew his longsword and attacked the man relentlessly, but after 26 separate blows, his body gave out and he died. The rest of the vassals, Eyera the mindless axe user, Brenethor the aged but deadly strategist, and Combria the spear-skilled youth, sought this legends blood, but came short. They died with honor. Siorius wept quietly, his closest friends and servants dead before him. He fell to his knees, giving up all hope. Suddenly, he heard the soft whisper of an ancient spirit, uplifting him and telling him his destiny. It is said Siorius often spoke of a spirit that spoke to him, and this must have been it. Her voice must have been magic to him, for he rose, his eyes red with tears, but with a passion incomprehensible. Her crimson aura wrapped about him as he lifted his hand and summoned forth the power of the Phoenix, the avatar of Fire Totems. Fire appeared all about him, for he called upon every inch he had within him. Colossal wings of fire appeared behind him, and his right hand and the ground about him began to burn.

His eyes glew red as he was said to dash forth, his hand slamming into the murderer of his vassals. The Wings of the Phoenix burned the other troops to a crisp as he flew past them, his eyes intently locked on the pained Neoprene locked in his fiery right hand. Bursting through the wall and launching thousands of feet into the air with the giant wings of flames, Siorius enclosed the wings and released all the inner fire of his body, killing Neoprene in a death befitting him. The wings faded. The fire fizzed away. And Siorius fell. He thought of his child. His son, who would grow to be named King Apollo.

And then, he surrendered his body to the gods. He fell and died, a nobler death naught had by any. To this day, no one has been able to use the Cry of the Phoenix, the phenomenon Siorius had used to defeat Neoprene. So, this once disgraced king is revered as the ultimate warrior, hero, martyr, and father, and an idol to all Terran people.

Especially to Ken, who was told at a young age he would never be able to conjure flames, let alone call upon the Phoenix. This had broken his heart as a child, but now, walking down the dirt road, Ken knew one day the prison of words he had been placed in as a child would be shattered. He would wield flames. And supposedly, one who resided in Ha Even could teach him.

Suddenly, Xanath noticed something odd. A wagon, worn and destroyed, lie on the side of the road. The group stopped, the eerily enrapturing sight before them suspicious. Ken Xanath slowly stepped forward, clenching his spear. He was ready for a trap. He moved slowly to the carriage, where he gasped and dropped his spear, reaching in. Ken grew worried and then very, very worried when Xanath drew out a worn, starving man from inside, missing an arm all together. He seemed sickly and half-dead. Xanath placed him in the road and shook him.

"Sir, awaken!"

My name is Jack Alexander, and I have a very special power. I have trouble explaining it, and you'll more than likely think I'm crazy regardless of how hard I try, but I can enter people's heads. I know, I probably sound like a weird motherfucker to you, but really, its true. I can learn the life story of anyone I see. I can learn their name, their family's names, anything. It's like there are six billion books walking around this planet that I can read. I'm sharing my personal story with you because while I don't want to scare those close to me with this information, I feel there's a chance maybe someone who reads this might believe me and know what it is I've learned and all the amazing things I've done.
First thing is first, I'll tell you some base information about me. I'm not really gonna bore you with bullshit like what classes I took in high school or what my favorite color is. I'm almost entirely sure you're only reading this because of me mentioning my power. Well, this is my story, so before I get to the good stuff, I think you should sit through the introduction of my life. Hell, I lived it.
I was born in Bensalem, Pennsylvania. It's this quaint little mini-city right outside Philadelphia. It's the perfect mix of city crowds and suburban charm, and frankly I loved it. There's not too many places to go, so its more about the people, not the scene. You get a feel for the people at every store you go to, or at least I did. It's a real nice place to go, and if you ever get the chance, stop by.
I was raised in a small white house, with an old redwood tree out front and a pool in the back. I had a dad who, despite his dead-end job, managed to have an upbeat attitude and an intelligent look on life. I've seen pictures of him in a dress. My mother was an endearing and caring mother, despite her occasional little phases of cynicism and the fact she could probably beat the shit out of half the guys in our neighborhood. They were quite the opposite of your typical suburban home, that's for sure.
Growing up in my house, I always dreamed of being a hero or a different person. I remember wishing I was a Ninja Turtle, a Jedi, and all kinds of guys. When I blew through all the typical TV and movie guys, I made up my own. It was lots of fun living in a world different then the one I was used to, despite the fact I felt comfortable at home.
Well, going through school, I never cared for much of those "assignments" teachers liked to give me, so throughout most of the day, I did what I do best: I daydreamed. I got in trouble for it, sure, but hey, it was something I could not resist doing. It was a habit I couldn't bring myself to shake, and it didn't hurt anybody, so why bother changing it?
Alright, well, I can tell I'm probably starting to bore you all. But, we're at the best part to get bored, because here comes the juicy part. It was in school where I discovered my powers. One day, I was sitting in Algebra, drawing a humorous picture of my teacher, when I dozed off. Now, that nap was odd. Normally, it takes a while to enter REM sleep, right? Well, I hit it straight off, and my dream was an odd one.
I dreamed I was my Algebra teacher, driving home from work on Interstate 95 for approximately 45 minutes, listening to 95.7 BEN FM and drinking French Vanilla coffee straight from a black coffee machine in the back right corner of a Wawa. When I awoke at the call of the teacher, I was extremely confused. That dream was so odd, so different then any I've ever had, and everything I looked at had carried its own little past I was aware of, it was too odd not to think twice about.
I began wondering if the dream had meant something, so when the teacher was at the front of the class talking about god knows what, I raised my hand.
"Yes, Jack?" Mr. Witting said in his familiar grumpy voice, carrying a negative denotation with it due to the fact I only really listened to him when he was yelling at me.
"I have a question, Mr. Witting. Do you like French Vanilla coffee?" I asked, halfassed. Snickers of adolescent disbelief rippling through the class.
"Why, yes, Mr. Alexander. I do, I drink it every day on the way home. Now, do you mind? I'm trying to teach math to people that pay attention." More snicker.
"Excuse me, but one more question. What's your favorite radio station? BEN FM, right?" The room got silent.
"...Why, yes. How did you know?" He said, staring intently at me.
"Well, it's my favorite, too, so I was just wondering when you mentioned going home. That's all, thanks."

See, weird! I decided to try it again, this time to a teacher I didn't like at all. I went to their class, whipped out a notebook and mechanical pencil, and began to draw the teacher. Soon, sleep took me, and once again, I found myself with another one of those dreams.
I was watching television in a brown living room, on a tacky green couch. Theres a fat tabby cat sprawled out on my lap, and I'm watching the first season of American Idol on an aged Sony television set, not even flat screen. This must have been years ago. Suddenly, the old wall phone on the wall rings, and I stand up and answer it. I'm my teacher. I hear something extremely relevant to me and I drop to my knees and cry. My wife won't be coming home tonight. And then, I woke up. I've never thought a bad thought about that teacher again. I know his story.
So, as you can see, this power has changed my life. I've worked out the kinks, and of course to everything there is rules. I can't go into the head of someone I've never seen in real life, so no internet trolls or historical figures. I have to write someone's name on a paper, or draw their face, and then go right to sleep. I've always been great with cat naps, so that's not much of a problem, but location matters.
I know you're probably thinking that it's a stupid power, and I waste my time reading people's pasts, but it has given me this universal outlook on life. It's amazing. But of course, I've only shown you the beginning. The start of my journey pales to the rest of my tale. And if you want, I might be willing to share it all with you. Truth really is stranger than fiction.
