| On Sunday. He's fourty eight years old. He was driving when it happened and he pulled to the side of the road and hit another car. Thankfully, he survived and got the medication on time, so he should be back to normal in a few months, and he didn't suffer any apparent injuries from the crash.
I was over my friends' house, sleeping over, at the time. I tried to run home when I found out but my friends stopped me. I almost lost him a few years ago, and I really thought I was going to lose him this time. I just wanted to type this out because I figured it'd help me feel a little better, which it is. |

| Penn looked around. His allies were few and far between. The only recognizable face was Micheal. He'd count the psychotic girl, but she was far too self-obsessed to be of any strategic use.
He was essentially alone, and at that moment, he thought that was just fine. Dashing forward, he lifted his closest opponent into the air and began supercharging them with energy. He recognized the Italian Stallion's face crinkle in pain seconds before his body exploded and rained down across the peninsula. The air around Penn became flooded with his energy as he continued his rampage, blowing holes through nameless foes with one hit. It was like the force of a bazooka hitting these fools, and one by one, they fell. Penn set his sights on the coward at the other side of the crowd. The one fiddling with the strings. |

| Penn stopped and looked at the dying man. His eyes raised to Elsie. "Huh." Reassured of her usefulness, he returned his attention to the fool in front of him. Penn dropped down and slammed his hands into the man's torso as he rose, splattering everyone behind him with a healthy amount of blood.
The man dropped. Penn stood in his place, a smile on his face. "Let the villainous be judged, first by fear, then by death." |

| Penn was knocked back by the flurry of blows, hitting the ground hard. For a long time, he seemed unconscious, his body sprawled on the ground. He was only listening to Marionette. And then, he was thinking.
As the three fighters approached him slowly, he flew upwards, taking them by surprise. The kicker responded first, landing a powerful kick in Penn's gut. Penn grabbed the leg that had just slammed into him. His grip was feeble, but it tightened as his skin began to burn the kicker's foot. Then his hands burned into the kicker's leg. With fear in his eyes, the froster launched another beam of cold. Penn responded by throwing the kicker into it, freezing him solid. Penn focused his energy and responded with a beam of his own, blasting the icy enemy high into the air. Enjoying his victory, he watched the superconvict float in the air until he felt the singe of lightning strike his chest. He lost his footing for a moment, but regained it quickly enough to see the enemy charging another bolt. He reacted quickly. With a crack, he launched himself into the air with great speed, extending his fist. His fist hit the fool and sent his spent form floating over the mob. Noticing the crowd coming closer, he knew he alone could not best them all like this. And so, he hatched a plan. Rising into the air, his voice bellowed across the peninsula. "You're not leaving this peninsula alive! I have enough energy inside me to destroy this entire peninsula! Those who fought beside me, I am sorry, but your lives are not worth the cost of letting these fiends survive." And so he began to charge his energy. He was surrounded by an orb of energy, protecting himself. No one knew how close he could be to exploding. Unless someone could stop him, they were all about to die. |

| The clock that Penn had been imagining ticking smoothly towards his explosion was now locked still. The desperate rage of an attempt fallen through just at the finish line bared down upon him as the two began spinning out of control in the sky. Around them, flares of energy burst into life, only to dissipate as fast as they had come. They span and span in the fireworks show until they suddenly stopped and plummeted onto the ground.

| As pyres of flame reached out into the morning sky, the old warden crawled out of a hole in the ground. His head swimming from pain, he eyed the world in a surreal manner. Standing before the sea of destruction was a man larger than life, his every finger home to a spider's worth of silky strings.
Dr. Heldenburg's age of peace had crumbled before him, and the horizon as he saw grew only darker over time. His clinic had failed, proven by the steaming body of Penn. His drug, Noxadrain, was a failure, proven by the mob of sinister villains standing in victory. His cure had failed, proven by the grinning corpse of Kowalski which lay harmlessly now on the operating bed twenty feet underground. Everything the esteemed warden had strived for now was destroyed. He drew his spare pistol and rested it against his temple. The silencer ensured his death be uninterrupted, unnoticed. Across the courtyard, Penn was still. Though he lay defeated and unconscious, no one dared finish him. They left him be to rot among the dirt, thinking their victory was complete. Inside Penn's head, the gears were already turning. Penn knew now the threat that Marionette truly posed to the world. Penn would rise again, and powers or no powers, he would be the man to best the puppetmaster and save the world. He could think of nothing else. |
