From the minds of Cairoi and Xeios comes a new RP, the likes of which have not been seen before (on this forum.)

LOCKDOWN is a survival horror/science-fiction RP. In it, you play a group of human beings from differing backgrounds, shepherded into a safe room when the massive space station you are on goes into a Class-1 Lockdown. You have spent two days in this room, without any outside news as to what has happened. All that is known is that the mandatory lockdown will end in a few hours, and you will be able to find out.

In LOCKDOWN, the rules are different. As the RP is a survival horror, there must be real threats, a real possibility of danger. That is why, at any point, you can die. A wrong move, a poor choice, or even just being in the wrong place at the wrong time, can result in death. That is why strategy matters, and why fear is a constant reality throughout the RP.

The space station the story will be taking place on is a large rest stop for space faring humans making their way across the galaxy. While there are sentient alien races that are in contact with humans, they rarely factor into human activities as they prefer to remain separate. As such, most humans little to nothing about them, other than that they exist.

Character Sheet:

Name:

Appearance:

Job: (When choosing your job, this will more than likely impact your role in the group. Keep that in mind)
Possible jobs:
-Medic/doctor
-Engineer/mechanic
-Security/military (let's keep this one to a minimum, guys)
-communications
-space station government personnel
-Store owner/worker (there is a LOT of room to work here, be creative)
-Unemployed

Also, keep in mind, you don't have to a permanent member of the ship. You could be a crewmember or even captain of your own ship, here on temporary "shore" leave. You could be a cargo delivery ship worker or a criminal, a captain or a high-priced escort. Seriously, the more creative and invested in your character you get, the more we'll all get out of this RP. ALSO, I know that you'll instinctively want to have combat experience, but try to be pragmatic. The more people with combat experience, the less thrilling and dangerous the RP will feel. Please, please, please, keep that in mind.

If you have any questions or anything else, feel free to post it here or PM myself of Xeios.

I did not like Fallout 3, particularly. It just felt really bland for me. Maybe this one will improve itself in my eyes.

Not sure if I've shared this with you guys by any chance, but I'm running a blog where I'm writing a short story every day for an entire year. I'm about a month and a half in.

http://adreamaday.tumblr.com/

If you want to just read the stories, the 365 stories button at the top left corner will get read of the other, extraneous stuff.

If you only have time to look over a few stories, a lot of people like Skeleton, You, Humanity, Headache, Mr. Cat, River Children, Skywalker, Dust, and the Gabriel series.

Hey everyone,

So first off, I've got to say something to Rob, aka, BJ, aka, the Phoenix.

You promised me scented letters, I have yet to get any. While I'm fine without any perfume, I am disappointed that you haven't written me yet, xD.

For the rest of you... I have yet to get any e-mails from you either. Get to it, xD.

So life as a missionary. Right now, life is a little bit slow. We sit in classrooms any time we aren't sleeping or eating. Not to say taht that's a bad thing, though. I've been learning quite a bit, and the hour they provide for personal study is awesome. It probably would be even more awesome, though, if we were all a little quieter, as we often distract ourselves.

Also, last night, we went to a big MTC devotional, where Richard G. Scott (for those who aren't Mormons, he's one of our big leaders) spoke. One of the people in our district charged ahead, so we managed to get in the third row. Third row out of the entire MTC, of about 2,000 missionaries. It was definitely awesome to be there. That said though, it was sor tof interesting to see our MTC president, who usually cracks jokes left and right while he's talking, looked completely serious the whole time Richard G. Scott was there. Gotta impress, I suppose.

Other than that, life is good. My missionary companion, while very different from me, is a good guy, and fun to hang out with, and the other six people who we are around pretty much 24/7 are also all fun to be around. Even in the space of a week, despite all being from different backgrounds and places, we all are very good friends already. Kristi (for those non-Tigges's, my sister) is probably thinking we just suffer from EFY syndrome (for those nonMormons, is a week long thing where mormon youth get together, and often turn insane), but it is more than that, we all are good friends.

And we can prove it. Looking down in the dining hall, we see everyone else looking quiet, sitting around bored, usualy just with our companion. Us eight, however, sit together making loud and stupid jokes about anything and everything. Its all good fun.

Oh yeah, and all but three of us are servingg in the same place, the Roseville California mission, which covers everything north of Sacramento.

Anyway though, we have a timer on our e-mail, and I only have a few seconds left. So, I posted my adress, write me, and I'll see you next time I e-mail Cairoi.

Thanks,
Vulkar.

Going to need an extension, my life freaking exploded. Imagine others will, too. How about the 6th?

If not, we could judge the merits of city vs. Xeios.

I voted. Apparently everyone I voted for lost.

This sucks. The next two years nothing's going to get done. Complete and utter deadlock.

Also, this thread is ridiculously disheartening.

Basically, our generation is the one that's going to have to pull the world back up from the ground, and however we do it, it's going to be with responsibility and hard work. If we just succumb to indifference, we're dooming ourselves and generations after us to a truly terrible state of the world.

Educate yourselves. It should be one of the most important things in your lives.

Hey, so I'm low on time, but I have you e-mail you all this little bit.

First off, I'm heading to the field this Tuesday, so if you all plan to mail me, my address is changing to this:

Elder Alexander Tigges
California Roseville Mission
8583 Watt Ave
Antelope, CA 95843-9117

Phoenix, I still haven't gotten that letter you promised.

Everyone else, I've been enjoying my time here, but am definitely eager to get oout on the field. I haven't seen much sunlight, and have been spending most of my time in a classroom, but I've learned a lot, and am really looking forward to getting oout there.

As a sample of the fun:

Every night, before we go to sleep, I say, "Hey, guess what?"

The say, "What?"

"You're now under conscious control of your breathing."

If all goes well, by the time we leave, they'll be trained to always start controlling their breathing right before they go to sleep.

Thanks,
Vulkar

They're not being made because Hollywood considers them poor investments. Shows like Firefly and what not get cancelled because they're really expensive to produce and it can take a while for the money to roll in. Reality shows don't have to pay writers, set makers, or any of the film-like expenses. Cop shows and sitcoms normally recycle sets, so that's a lot easier to replicate, too.

It's a fucking shame that creativity comes second to profits when it comes to television and movies. If those art forms weren't so expensive to produce, the things we'd see would blow our minds.

Here in PA we have a fantastic winter fighting system. There's a lot of snow plows, lots of salt to soak that shit up.

Two most important things: Get winter clothes. FIND THE WARMEST ARTICLE OF CLOTHING IN THE UNIVERSE AND GET SIX OF THEM. You never know.

Also, all weather tires > chains, and as long as you stay on the major roads, you won't experience anything. If there's snow, the interstate highways and what not are priority number one for the state.

Owen zipped up his jumpsuit, loose but thick artificial cloth that itched against the skin. He still wasn't used to cryo-sleep, but he didn't show it. He just kept it to himself, as always.

"So, anyone know what that was about?"

EDIT: The door locked in the sights of the warden's pistol opened as well. Inside, a short, balding man with a patchy beard opened his eyes, slowly adjusting upon the cocked barrel.

The man merely sighed.
