Well, they called me up today and said that they diddnt need me, and to expect a 40$ check in the mail.

=D Im glad I dont have to go back, and 40 bucks may not be much, but its more money in my pocket

In California if you're related to a police officer you're automatically dismissed because of bias. If you really want to get out of jury duty you just have to prove a bias during the interview process. Like if you were to say, "I've had bad experiences with law enforcement and I think all cops should die." They proabably wouldn't want you there.

I actually had no problem getting a seat, they were very organized on that part.

Its the slow boring part that got me.

That's the way all jury duty is. It's "random" enough as it is. Then you got the lawyers interveiwing the people all the time too.

Yep! sounds like jury duty. My boyfriend's mom (who is randomly racist) just plainly told them that she doesn't like African-Americans, Indians, Native Americans, Chinese, Mexicans, etc, but conveniently used all the racist terms for them... ^-^;; That was in probably the late 70s, early 80s, and they never called her back to jury duty again.

Ok, here is the story...

I got to the Courthouse at like, 8:30, and everyone was seated at 9:00 AM, listening to the Judge.

Alright so, he explained everything to us, and gave us a 1:30 minute break (1 hour 30 mins). Told us to return at 1:30, the Judge diddnt come back till 2:30 PM

So we sat there, waiting for like an hour, then finally he called down the list for the rolecall. I was Juror #91, so I was the last person on the list, he would call up 12 people, then everyone else would wait an hour.

This little phase repeated for like, 4 hours. And they diddnt even get to me, in fact, they diddnt get to #45-ish to 91 (me).

SO, Here I am, im upset, my ass hurts, and I have to report back at 9 AM Thursday.

This day blows

Well, they do interview you before going in to see if you should be on a jury or not.

I've heard of a few people not getting chosen because of a few things:
- Our friend, Junkie, was summoned and told the people interviewing him that he was working with a hacker on confidential federal business. They suddenly did not need him to serve.
- My friend, Kori, was not chosen when she showed up at the court with her various facial piercings, bearing both her arms (which are covered entirely in tattoos), and talking about how extremely liberal she is.

If you really do want to go forward with jury duty, hey, more power to you. I'm just posting that showing up still doesn't confirm that you'll have to serve.

I know im bumping, but Monday is the date.

Sunday im getting a Hair cut -____- which is gonna suck, my metal hair is gonna have to go bye bye.

But on the bright side, its something to do, too bad Fennicy will be stuck in my house all day without me. Oh well, I guess we will both live or something.

Lets see, cut hair, shave, prep up, and put on nice clothes. Last thing I want is for the Judge to say something to me about my attire, though I dress in plain normal clothes, Im still gonna dress nice for it.

I actually want to go forward and do this. Mainly because I have no job, so its better than no pay at all, not to mention its something to do.

But on the bright side, Ill look like im 16 again. Plus I can get rid of this raggity Goatee I have going on.

Well, I'm clear for a while. Decided not to vote until there's someone actually worth voting for, and my blind eye tells me I won't be driving for a while, if ever; even if I can legally, I don't think I should.

Yay for me?

i was gonna go to my first baseball game, and i dont really like baseball, cause my dad had free tix's. and i was gonna go w/ a friend who was into baseball. then jury duty called.

i had to call in for an entire week, so i cancled the game, and they didnt need me after all. so the gods have decided that i shouldnt like baseball afterall

but yeah, you only get paid if you show up to court, ect. not if you do the phone call part.

I'm not registered to vote yet even though I'm almost 19 so I won't be called in for it yet. Although it does seem like something really interesting to do. Watching a case and deciding the fate of someone on trail. Though that would be quite some pressure if you think about it.

I get put on Active Duty status so everyday I have to travel all the way to Opelika and back home in order to send letters to Iraq and help my counterpart out when he has problems.

Pssh.... I don't like jury duty anyway. I've heard the horror stories. and I know it's coming. It's just coming.

I definitely wasn't paid for that week I had to call in, and I'm not quite sure how their payment system works.

From what I hear, you aren't paid very much anyway. A friend of mine got $15 a day, and school and work are no excuse. She missed over a week of class and work. But OMG, $15!!!

Completely Random. As was my expression.

And Rogue, if they dont choose you to be in the Jury, you get paid anyways? Or did I read that wrong?

fun stuff. I hope you know my dad almost had to skip out on my BCT graduation for jury duty.

When I took law and driver's ed Mr. Hickman told us that they would interveiw each jury member to see whether or not they can actually go. But you get paid anyway. Good luck getting an actual seat. Most jury duty cases are mainly about DUIs and something that deals with drugs.
