Well, I thought the film making was good. Actually, pretty much every aspect of the film was good, except for the script. The two stories felt almost completely unrelated. There should have been more correlation and intertwining. I dunno.
EDIT: Talking to Rogue, not Vulkar. |

It's not for everyone.
When I saw it with Brandon, people walked out and demanded refunds for not knowing it was subtitled. Past that I wasn't expecting it to be as brutal as it was. When I'd seen the preview and everything for it at last year's Comic-Con, they billed it as the next happy-go-lucky Labyrinth or Dark Crystal, so I didn't expect the harshness. While I gritted my teeth during some scenes, the movie's quite beautiful in the symbolism and camera-work. To me, it is, anyway. There are some themes that carry between HB and Pan's Labyrinth, like carved symbol on the floor. In the first Hellboy, it was where Rasputin was resurrected when the blood collected in it. Same sort of concept in Pan's Labyrinth. |

To be honest, I didn't really care for Pan's Labryth. |

Originally posted by Captain Tightpants Yes he did. Pan's Labyrinth really put him on the map this year. It's his Lord of the Rings (seriously what did Peter Jackson have before that? Meet the Feebles). |

Yeah, I think the biggest problem with the first was that the plot was kinda meh. This looks like it wont have that problem.
Did del Toro direct the first one? |

You can really see del Toro's style in the appearance of some of the creatures in the beginning, especially the little things. But yeah, I think this is also one I am definitely going to have to see. |

So Guillermo del Toro just put up a teaser trailer for Hellboy II.
This link will take you to Myspace's "Trailer Park" where this is supposed featured. Will have to find a perma-link asap: http://www.myspace.com/trailerpark I'm definitely going to see this (probably not the first week, possibly in the cheap theaters, but I'll make a point of seeing it in theaters). EDIT: There's better available at IGN: http://media.movies.ign.com/media/041/041373/vids_1.html The MySpace thing was just what Ain't It Cool was sending people to. |
