My friends showed me a scene of it today (they downloaded it apparently, lol).
The scene with the fridge ... WTF! We thought it was funny how he just instantly gets up and walks away from it.

I definitely want to see this despite most of my friends thinking it looks terrible.
I really don't like Shia too much anymore ... or kind of like Katana said, he still has a way to go before he can really pull off some good serious roles. I wasn't too excited to hear he plays a big part in this (I think?) but meh, whatev!

There were very small details about the movie that I happened to enjoy thoroughly. Those kept the damned thing afloat for me (as far as story goes...I could see the movie again and again just based off of how "pretty" it was) Slightly off topic I guess, but when I saw it tonight...I think I died happy before the movie started. I caught a glimpse of the best previews I've seen in my entire life. HellBoy II? I don't care what anyone says...I LOVED the first one...and this one looks sooo much better. I know who to thank for that though...~_^

I wasn't attacking the latest on realism--but seriously when are you going to see people melt like sno-cones or continue living despite having their heart pulled out or age REALLY REALLY quickly?
No, this one just took the franchise and ran off with it in a direction that made me almost die a little inside. They chose THAT script?! Of all the scenarios, of all the endings, of all the artifacts to go after? REALLY? Another thing that makes me slightly sad is how this just fell into a formula based on the past flicks--everyone pretty much just fell into place in a flat and ultra-predictable way. Just look for the cliche archetypes. They're seriously there. Like I said, I enjoyed it. That's all I can say. To an extent I enjoy most movies though. But seriously the whole balance of "This is kinda good" and "Oh god, why?!" completely falls apart the second Shia grabs onto that second vine and starts swinging. In that very instant the movie began its descent into a downward spiral.

I just saw this tonight.
My reaction? My boyfriend worded it nicely. I was having a "nerdgasm" the whole time. Both previous comments I couldn't agree more with though. Like Rogue said, it really was like the X-Files meets National Treasure. But it was also not to bad being "unrealistic." My boyfriend pointed out a few things, like how there was no blood when there obviously should have been. Ehh...had to keep the PG rating somehow. (PG, PG13, whatever it was...) It wasn't the GREATEST thing out there...but for the damned thing being the 4th movie in a world where sequels can mean the death of something great, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull was pretty damned kickass. I didn't care too much for Shia LeBuff(sp?) I usually like the guy...but the poor kid has a long way to go before I can see him in a truly mature role (Basically un-EvenStevens kinda thing.) Disturbia was good. He was slightly more serious, but a goofy teenage boy still...it was a nice mix. I think the guy has a decent career ahead of him if he makes the transition slowly. But...I just wasn't feeling him for this movie. And like I predicted from the preview...Lucas and Speilberg did NOT do what I feared most about this movie--Ignore Indy's age. :p They made sure you saw his age, without making Indy un-kickass. (I mean, there were still some "unrealistic" tendencies, but like Val said, it's only a movie.) And the cinematography...absolutely breathtaking. EVERYTHING about it. The costumes, the set... And Marion and Indy? That crapola got too campy for me at times. I mean, I liked the suspense in the begining. I still kinda knew it would be one of Indy's old girls (I read NO rumors/spoilers of this movie prior to seeing it tonight) but then once you met her, it was like "BAM! We're SOOOOO in love!"

Too many people try to hold Indiana Jones movies in a realistic sense. You just can't do that. Also, old fans said that this new one was too "unrealistic". Well, if you go back and watch the old ones again, they were pretty unrealistic too.
It's an Indiana Jones movie. It's supposed to be mindless fun and the archeology is supposed to smash and break everything of value except the one thing Indy is after. I loved the movie and that's all it is: a movie.

As a lifelong Indy fan, I can say the new movie was enjoyable, but it felt like watching the other three movies ground up and with a couple slivers of the same sight-gags and lines thrown together.
A lot of it was really predictable, but oh well. Also 20 years time between the start of this all and now has taken away a lot of the intensity in Indy and Marion--they almost come out off like bad impersonations of themselves. In the end, it's a good movie with a decent new story, though I'm not really big on what it all was about... Spoiler:
Aliens EDIT: Last night, while sitting down to dinner with my parents at this restaurant, I had picked up the local paper for the area that place was in and read their ultimately negative review of Indy. They described it as National Treasure meets The X-Files. I couldn't agree more.
