If thats the case you might like Gurren Lagann more than Gungrave and other things. It has a nice amount of humor to it and isn't quite as dark or serious as Gungrave. |

Eh, maybe not. But I usually do like serious movies or TV shows, I just also like a lot more character development in my stories as well. If there are characters that I can genuinely care about, I can usually like pretty much anything.
And yeah, Vash, would be really hard to replace in anything, I guess. |

You're probably just not the serious kind.

Hmm, well just a heads up, there are a lot of anime out there with similar characters to Brandon. The quiet ones whom end up changing the world and whatnot.
Vash is hard to replace I guess, hehe. |

I finsiehd Gungrave today.
Honestly, it had a lot of good, and it was slightly addicting for a little while, but I honestly liked Trigun a ton better. Grungrave didn't really have as likeable characters, which sadly made it so that I felt barely any emotion at the end. Bradnon was able to be pretty cool, but he just didn't grab my interest the way I think that a main character in an episodic series should have. I'll try Gurren Lagann next though. |

Great! See what I mean now? Some anime just requires a little time, but I know how you feel ... lately I can't seem to find anything that "grabs" me after watching Gurren Lagann.
Anyways, you're about to hit a big midpoint in Gungrave where things really change. Brandon is kind of a quiet character, but he is definitely geared towards the main character position. Just trust me man, I've seen a lot of anime in my day, but the conclusion to Gungrave is by far one of the best I've ever seen. It's worth it. |

Actually, I've been watching more of Gungrave, and I've actually started to like it a lot more. I wathced six episodes today, and I'm starting to be more entertained.
I'm seriously wondering about Brandon though...it sounds like he's supposed to be the main character, but he hasn't really done a lot to make himself any cooler than Harry. Although, I only just finished episode nine, so maybe that will change. |

Meh. I think people just need to realize with a lot of anime out there you have to give it time. It took me about half the series of Texhnolyze to finally start understanding what was even going on and when it all came together, it ended up being one of my favorites.
Of course, maybe Vulkar just wants a good slice of comedy, action, epicnss, etc. If that's the case you would probably like Black Lagoon more than other shooters. The humor in it was awesome. Also, Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann is the best. (and contains a great deal of all genres) So yeah, those are way more laid back. Lagann is incredibly epic but you can't take it too seriously for being as goofy as it is sometimes, it's just amazing though. |

But if he can't serious stuff, he won't like it.
It's not made to be funny. |

You really have to give Gungrave sometime, the series is kind of split in half. |

Trigun movie = AWESOME!
Anyway, I watched a few episodes of Grungrave, and it's decent, but I just can't watch it as much as Trigun, the seriousness of the whole thing gets to me. I'll look of Gurren Lagan next, and probably Black Lagoon. Hopefully those aren't as completely serious as Gungrave. |

Guess I can't compare em' since I haven't read it.
Do wish to read Maximum sometime though. Speaking of Trigun, they're making a movie set for 2009 (OVA) From ANN. Can't wait! |

I have the entire series, Xeo; I've seen all 26 episodes.
And in my opinion, it pales in comparison to the manga. |

Originally posted by Raoh Have you seen all of it? I'd say the second half of the series takes quite a step up in terms of being more serious and whatnot. Vulkar: Bebop is alright, but one I kind of call overated myself. The thing about is the majoirity of the anime is episodic based, so not a lot really ties in until the last few episodes. It's fun, but I think there's better ones out there like Gungrave, Black Lagoon, etc. But yeah, when people like DarkSlaya hail Gungrave as their favorite, it doesn't surprise me at all. That along with Gurren Lagann are probably up there at the top of my list and very hard to replace. |

I have to admit, Raoh...I actually didn't have any questions left unanswered by the time it finished...
Anyway, I just watched the first episode of Blood+, but since I haven't moved along with it yet, I think that I'll watch Gungrave first. I honestly can't see their characters comparing to the great Vasht eh Stampede though. I might watch Cowboy Bebop soon too, that looks pretty entertaining. |

In my opinion, Trigun was overrated and had a little too much fluff and not enough of answering questions that should have been answered.
The manga was a million times more epic, and answered every question possible. |

Haha Vulkar, Trigun does seem to be a pretty impacting first anime for people. Was mine too.
Anyways, above and beyond anything else, you HAVE to watch Gungrave. It was handled by the same director as Trigun, however the character development is better in my opinion and unlike Trigun's open ended ending (that continues with the extended manga, Trigun Maximum), Gungrave actually ends. Way more emotional too. Basically, Trigun is a classic in my eyes, but Gungrave is even better. |

Trigun was what really got me into anime. I would recommended Cowboy Bebop, Fooly Cooly, Bleach, Gundam, Dragonball, Rurouni Kenshin, and Naruto. I haven't seen a lot of anime, but those are probably my favorite.
