Originally posted by Xeu From what I hear, John Connor was originally going to be a minor character in this movie. The story was supposed to be about the relationship between the terminator and Kyle Reese and JC was only supposed to be in the film maybe 3 minutes. Apparently when the director, McG, flew to England to meet with Bale about playing the terminator, Bale said he was much more interested in being JC so all these drastic rewrites were done to make his part bigger. Well, at the very least, they explained John Connor's scar. |

That was probably my biggest complaint too, the movie lacked ... simply put, "The Terminator".
Not one of Bale's best performances too ... but whatever. If they make more after this, I'll watch them. |

If they maintain that level of action, they can make as many of these movies as they want. It was great fun. Could've used more Terminators though. I was expecting armies of them, rather than 4ish total and all spread out. |

Not bad, not incredible, not better than Star Trek by far, but yeah. Definitely worth seeing.
Now I think we can officially forget about T3 completely with this out. ... also, I really need to watch season two of the series, even if it got cancelled after it ended. I heard it was pretty good. But do I want to watch another Firefly case? |

I saw it earlier tonight. It's fucking great. Kicks the shit out of T3.
I'm going to avoid putting out spoilers. |

Originally posted by Xeu Heh, it's funny now that you mention it, but Terminator always reminded me of The Matrix. Man vs. Machines. Only a relatively small group of humans left. Legendary man as their leader. (Either Neo or Morpheus, I guess) Blackened skies... hm, perhaps all the shots of the future were taken at night? Since the machines made the strike of nuking major cities, maybe the humans set up camp in the desert? Very Road Warrior. |

Hmm, I dunno what to think, but I'm certainly interested in seeing it in theaters.
I assume it'll be better than 3 also. Looks like a lot of it will take place in a desert, which isn't bad ... but it definitely doesn't look like the grimdark dystopian future the first two movies showed us. |

Crap, had both trailers open in different tabs.
Well apparently the Terminator trailer doesn't have the embed coding posted, so here's a link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aRwby_vjg88 |

You accidentally posted the Japanese Watchmen trailer. |

A new trailer came out last month.
They finally showed the harvester, instead of just its claw pulling someone through a wall. |

McG pretty much said the show is its own entity and left it at that. So no, the show will go ignored as well.
He also explained that SkyNet doesn't exist yet and it's "still in research and development" (which goes along with the fact that they're ignoring the end of T3 where SkyNet blows a lot of the world to shit with missiles). So yeah, we see a young Kyle Reese, Mrs. John Connor, and a whole new group of human freedom fighters. |

Will it acknowledge the show? And by acknowledge, I mean take place in that timeline? |

So I saw the panel for it at Con and yes, this is pretty much a franchise reboot that's going to ignore the fact that T3 was made.
The terminators in it are going to be T-600s, which aren't going to be as advanced at Arnold's terminator models in any of the movies. As in they have rubber skin that comes off easily, but not flesh and blood. |

Well, this is the first in a new trilogy, so chances are he wont die, but that's not what I meant. I just... had no clue what he said... |

Originally posted by FXOriginally posted by insectduel Actually, if you remember, in T3, the Terminator mentions that John Connor is dead when he's sent back in time. Thus, there is a chance that he'll die, although it's not really certain yet. Anyway, I'm looking forward to this, altohugh I think it'll probably change from the style of the other Terminator movies a lot, mostly trhanks to the post-apocolyptic setting. It still sounds cool, though. |

It could happen who knows.
I haven't heard of the main storyline yet. But May 2009 is a LONG wait for the release. |

This is so damn sweet. Imagine what John Connor is going to do when he's killed or something. |

Just found out that Anton Yelchin, star of Charlie Bartlett, will be playing Kyle Reese. Interesting. |

Nope. They don't need him. All the 'naters (my new term for Terminators) are just skeletons. |
