You might want to use mysql_real_escape_string(); on the post text, as right now, it'll error if you don't escape 'these things', and it could also be a security hole.
Quickbeforepostedit: You might also want to make it not require you to enter your password when logged in to post
Edit: Also, fix auto-updating layouts.
Edit2: Fix post backgrounds.
I'm still not sure on how I'm gonna do it for other people. Obviously I know it works (what I'm messing around is not only the sidebar, but the post area, and where the "Posted on" part is).
As for how to get one, there's no specific way, really. But right now I'll do it for admins and then we'll see (or I'll do it for anyone if I feel like it)
I have a question on the sidebars -- is that only going to be available to the staffers? If so, that is a good thing. I've seen the way they are done on Jul, and they are very well done there. If you're going open that up to regular members, I suggest strict guidelines so that they are not eyesoaring . . .
Ya know...I've been thinking about making a battle system for ACMLM boards for months, but I never really got around to doing it. Mostly because creating one from scratch is tough work.
However, I got a great idea. I've started getting into Dungeons and Dragons lately (mostly via NeverWinter Nights) and I thought to myself "Hey, why not use the D&D system as an ACMLM Battle/Item-shop mod?"
I know enough about PHP and MySQL to write it, but I don't know enough about the D&D system to do anything yet.
I'd be willing to write and test this system over the next few months if I can get a hold of the D&D manuals (v3.0 or v3.5). I'll need the Players Handbook, Dungeon Master's Guide, and the Monster Manuals (1 thorugh 5). If anyone can get me these or help me get these, I'll be able to get started on it right away.
I can get them from Amazon.com for 49.95 used, but I can't afford to buy them right now. If anyone wants to donate to the cause, PM me.
If I do this, I'll go all out. Players will have the ability to fight each other and random encounters (based on player level) for experience and money. I will also make the entire system customizable for the admins. Perhaps in later editions, I might add the ability for people to make encounters with graphical maps and the like. It would likely be similar to the D&D Basic Game set.
If necessary, I will make a new thread for this idea.
Originally posted by XeuI have a few former members worked on, though I'd rather not hand them out (they're pretty much broken and really imcomplete anyways). If you guys think you can handle the task then give it a shot I guess, but battle systems are probably among the most time consuming things you could work on.
If you do so I'd recommend setting up your own temp AB somewhere with our shop for testing at least (I think the shop was with 1.9?). With a bunch of SQL and file changes testing it here would just be too messy.
@DarkSlaya: Here's a funny one, maybe fixing threads by user? I always forget how messed up it is ...
All it is is a bunch of math functions, and noah and I both have multiple websites we can use for testing, But I'd really like to see the shop code and those databases if possible Xeo.

Due to rather 'unfortunate' events, I pretty much had no choice to do some updates on the board:
- Slightly increased security (it IS an Acmlmboard after all, can't make miracles happen)
- As some of you can see, custom sidebars are in (still need some tweaking, perharps)
- Right now, only the latest edit is displayed on my posts, next to "Posted on". This will be the same for all users (in other words, no more long list of "edited by xxxx").
Small updates I'm thinking of:
- Limiting the amount of "Re:" in PMs.
- The way custom name colors is in right now sucks - Ye olde shop. It exists, but there's not much in it. No battle system for now, I just don't have that kind of time.
- Shop editor for staff (totally not stealing that from Jul =D)
- Favorites and Threads by User I had totally forgotten about that.
- Remove useless files (not like you guys will notice)
- Remove useless stuff in the database (see my comment above).
Stuff I might or might no do (not that the above is 100% sure to be done either):
- Changing the way the announcements are "NEW".
- Changing that for threads too.
- Add your own here.
