One of the main reasons that I am in shape the way I am is because of were I work and the type. I do a lot of heavy lifting, twisting, pulling, bending and things like that every day. To top it off over the summer it reaches in between 110-120 and fluctuates at that temp for the 8 hours im there. I actually weighed myself the other day and found out that ive stayed at about 170lbs, which is the weight I was at about 4 months ago. But ive lost about 2 pants sizes. Last time I had my body fat done was about the same time 4 or 5 months ago and I was at about 6% so im actually scared to see what im at now lol

But I am trying to bulk up a little bit while getting in better shape. Instead of driving to work I ride my bike, it's about 2 1/2 miles there and 2 1/2 miles back. When riding my bike I can usually do it 30 mins round trip, so tha'ts 15 there and 15 back. I just started walking and I can do it in about 45 mins round trip.. so yea.. Lol

not sure if anything ive said helps. But I guess to substitute my work just start doing what your doing, Working out everyday and the like. I could say that for the twisting and bending start doing sit ups, pulling and lifting, start doing push ups and pull ups.

drink lot's of water and Gatorade is good to.. Just dont make it a habit. I know it's a long process but keep up the work. Ive been doing this job for a year and im still not in the shape I want to be.

Ryan if you looked at the pics I posted up. I don't need to diet quite literally.

I just need to get back in shape... but this South Beach Diet doesn't work for me. If I cut our my carbs I have nothing to burn.

I'd also suggest eating cooked meals, they're generally healthier than prepacked foods.

Eat things with chilli, since it boosts your metabolism by 25%. And you can get high off it.

Don't take any of those diet programmes, very few work, and a lot of them just say cut out something that's normally important to growth and health.

Also, what's the diet for exactly? Is it to get healthier, or just to get thinner?

The best thing I've found is eating 5 small, healthy meals a day. I work with a girl who CONSTANTLY eats. It actually boosts your metabolism. What do you normally eat? I've got this book called The No Fad Diet. It's put out by the American Heart Association. Basically, what it tells you if you want to lose weight in a healthy manner is to eat fewer calories than your burning. But that doesn't mean starve, either.

Some people say that you should just cut out calories, or fats, or carbohydrates, or whatever.... but I find that if you eat moderate amounts of each, you will still lose weight.

As for running... the best thing to do to increase your time is to step it up a little bit each day. Set a goal. You're running 3 miles in an hour? Try telling yourself that you're going to run 3 miles in 45 or 50 minutes, and see how close you can get to your goal. It's all about motivation.

Honestly, best advice I can think of concerning diets is to consult a doctor.

Books and advice from friends may be helpful. Others' insight may be very well informed also. However, they do not have the records of the history of your health. They do not know everything that runs in your family and what things you actually have to worry about and don't. (Just because something runs in the family doesn't mean you have to get it...but just because something doesn't run in the family doesn't mean you won't get it.) And don't freak, I'm not talking things like serious illnesses. Something simple. The way your metabolism works, for example, can be hereditary.

There are sooo many different "diets" out there...and most of them don't work anyways. Doctors know though. Like me for example. I do heavy walking every day. I'm on my feet ALL DAY at work, I walk to the bus stop, I walk from the bus stop. I get a lot more exercise than you'd think in just those three little things, and they're the daily routine, not the stuff I do on purpose to stay healthy. However, that's GREAT for me. Walking. Jogging and running on occasion. Staying on my feet. Moving. But that goes back to the doctor stuff. Heart disease runs in my family, and I have to go get another test for it myself at the end of this month, because my doctor didn't like the results of my last test. So, all that cardio stuff is PERFECT for me. Other people it might not help as much as something else.

If you're serious about dieting, and with you HAVING to stay fit for your carrer anyway, I'm sure you are....then I IMPLORE you to talk to your doctor/physician/army people/whatnot. Otherwise, you may hurt yourself or in the very least, work your ass off on something that doesn't even help you in the end anyway.

I know this isn't the place to put this up, but it's a need to know factor. I want to know what I can and cannot eat if I'm on this diet. My sister has been ransacking my pantry and throwing out all of my groceries and making me buy the more expensive. There has to be an affordable diet out there that I can find food without going anorexic. ANYWAY I have been running and working out as well and the results have been slowly showing. I know it's been pretty rough though.

I normally drink gatorade, but she has thrown out all the food i have that recharges electrolytes.

I really started out running one mile, and I have slowly brought it up to about a couple more miles now. I think I'm running around three in 60 minutes, which is not a good thing for me. I need to be running 2 miles in under 20 minutes. Is there any way I can continue to improve. Track suggestions.... anything. stretches... what ever.

One thing I hate about running and exercise is the actual strain to keep it up. >.> I have stretch marks from when I had a depression moment and all I did was sit down.
