My mind functions like this all day. I don't see things as they are, so concepts such as the ten dimensions are easy for me to understand. You might say that I live in the fifth dimension perpetually. |

BREW, you almost made my head explode. After a second time, I was able to understand it, though. |

Heh. It's a good thing I posted this thread. I've been meaning to look for that video. Thanks, BREW. How many people here understand that video? I bet most of you might not understand what's being explained after the 4th or 5th dimension. But really, it's simply a continuation of points, lines and folds.
And about this hologram: don't picture it as literally having dimensions. Something like that would have been a civilization-altering scientific breakthrough and on the news all over the world. The word "dimension" doesn't refer to only the spatial kind, but also marks. For example: fish can be sold in a market by 3 dimensions- size, weight or type of fish. The concept is the same for the hologram. It uses 6 different things, or ways, to create the image or to be viewed in that many ways. Do you kind of get it now? |

Well, three-dimensional objects are what we know. The fourth dimension is time, and the rest of the dimensions (up to 10) can't really be experienced by our species.
And, just like other people have said, just because a building has multiple surfaces on it doesn't make it X-dimensional. It's all still 3-D. And this is the best way to explain the 10 dimensions that I've found: |

What the... 6D?
Why does this suddenly remind me of all of the amusement park "4D" shows that are still just 3D movies that blow water and air at you? Good grief. Yeah, I agree, still pretty cool. |

Really, they travel through time, as well as two other dimensions of movement we were unaware of? Hm... maybe it uses an improbability drive.
Either way, it's still cool. |

Help me Obi-Wan Kenobi. You're my only hope! |

That actually sounds pretty cool, but...it's still 3D, no matter how many sides you add in.
But yeah, this is sounding awesome, I just wisht that they had some more pictures. |

This is a pretty cool thing I found on Discovery.com. Instead of the usual lines that are used in holographic images to create the illusion of change or movement, scientists made little squares which offer more dimensions to work with. The ideas for potential use of these on a large scale are mentioned at the end, and they would be great if realize. But something like that is about 7 or so years off. For now it's just a measely 7x7 image.
