Originally posted by Xeu Many people, directors included, consider making a film based on a cartoon/video game/comic book/old TV show the bottom of the barrel, reserved for hacks and fuck-ups. Now while I don't entirely agree with that (Zack Snyder, Bryan Singer, etc), when you have A LOT of BAAAAD motion picture adaptations for those listed, it's not hard to see why the stereotype exists. |

I'm not sure how The Happening didn't instantly and permanently destroy his career. My friends and I watched that with rifftrax, and it was still nearly impossible to finish. I felt bad for the decent casting as well.
That said, this actually looks kind of good to me. But I've never seen much of the animated series, so maybe that's why. Nonetheless, not anything I'm counting down too or anything... |

It looks like poop, and it is so unbelievably racist with its casting of white people for the "good guy" clans and Indian for the Fire Nation (which don't even come close to the nationalities of the show). After Unbreakable and Sixth Sense, I thought Shamaylan could have been a gifted director. With every movie he's made after Signs, he has become less and less talented until the point he has arrived at now. The Happening was seriously retarded. This movie is only going to be worse.
What's worse is that I loved the animated series this is based off of. A modern cartoon with a good story, great action, and fluid and interesting animation. So much for that. |

I was intrigued when I saw the first two teasers, but this most recent trailer really skirts the line of campy and "Eh, it's all right."
Why in the world is Fire Nation Indian? Oh, M. Night Shyamalan. |

Hearing about this movie makes me want to die. I cannot contribute more to this discussion than that. |

Paramount just e-mailed to say that they've posted the new trailer for The Last Airbender here.
It's actually the first time they've outrightly shown the characters' faces since they're obscured in the teaser and previous trailer. Probably because so many are throwing a fit that the main characters are played by white kids. Kinda weird for Sokka and Katara since they're Inuit, and live an Arctic-like area of the world. Thoughts? |
