pretty much anything i drink--in other words, no matter how high the alcohol percentage is, if the alcohol/dollar ratio is low then it's a girly drink since i care more about getting a good drink and having fun then getting smashed and hung over the next morning (that's only fun some of the time). |

Oh Kyoku, you poor thing! Never drink that horrible shit! If you have to go domestic, go Sam Adams. |

I don't much like beer. But I can stand drinking it if it's the only thing available.
But good lord, the other day I had a Budweiser.. It was hell. |

Originally posted by WhiteRose I agree. If you think about it, its almost like girls themselves (no offense to all of our female board members.). I mean, there are non-girly girls, or even less girls girls. But what makes a girly-girl, well, a girly-girl? The bling. How much make-up she needs, and how fancy she is dressed up. The same goes with drinks, I suppose. The more 'dressed up' a drink is, the girlier it is. |

To me a girly drink was not so much on the taste as the look. The so called girly drink are usually rather colorful and have extra embellishment, such a cherries, umbrellas, slices of fruit, but they are not necessary. I say it's more on look than taste though because something that normally would be considered girly due to lack of alcohol taste, would still be considered girly if the alcohol content was increased *recalls last Pina Colada she had....or the blurry memories of what happened afterward*
But in the end, as most of you have agreed, so long as the job gets done, it matters not if it girly or not. |

This discussion reminds me of the debates we have during the Beer of The Day announcement.
We all have come to an agreement. "We want alcohol." |

It's nice to see we are all in agreement here.
Demi-fiend, I love your answer. |

I'm so ridiculously feminine when it comes to drinking. I won't enjoy it unless I can't taste ANY alcohol. I would MUCH prefer to chug a shot and drink something non alcoholic and enjoyable right after.
As pretty much everyone has said, I've always thought of "girly drinks" as drinks that you can barely, or not at all, taste the alcohol. |

Girly....drinks?
No such thing for me. Unless you consider drinking crappy mass produced North American beer as manly I like my alcohol to be good, thank you. |

When one's sugar is quickly raised, such as with an alcoholic beverage, it can drop, very quickly, in a very short amount of time. Hence the drunk feeling, according to doctors. Yet the yeast in beer raises it, so I'm even kinda like "Erm...wtf?"
You know, the actual mojito is an interesting one. We could go on about what the typical "girly" drinks are, but, I even asked a few of my friends. Some stubbornly declared that tasting the tequila doesn't make it a girly drink. Especially since most of us never had it with the sugar. So I'm going to go with a "no" too, I guess. I guess the final verdict is if they're bothering you, just punch them in the face. Publicly. Then you've earned the right to drink whatever you want without being hassled as being too "girly" XD XD XD. |

I would think that given the sugar content in most drinks that it would be raising your sugar.
So, to go back to that mojito... the person I am debating with says it is because there is traditionally powdered sugar in it. Yet you taste that tequila, and a lot of times I've had it without the sugar (or with it on the rim). Verdict? |

Luckily, I have the sugar issue card. It depends on the day I'm having. Beer can sometimes make my sugar go either high or low, so I avoid that. Besides, I can't stand beer.
Mike's Hard drinks, and other wine koolers seem to be the best for me and my sugar (and personally, I like them best so far. XD) I mean, I'm sure alcohol isn't good for anyone with sugar issues, but I watch VERY carefully what I drink, and eat around that time, and honestly, I don't drink all that much. For instance: fun fact, that drunk feeling you get? Yeah, that's what one feels like when their sugar drops. I'm actually almost certain that most alcoholic drinks DO lower the sugar, or raise it possibly, and that's where the feeling comes from. I remember drinking once in high school and thinking "Wait, this is FUN to you guys? Whenever I felt like this, I always had to get a needle for insulin. This sucks." Although, I will say this, if you don't want to get made fun of for your drinks, so far, tackling the crap outta someone in front of everyone embarasses them enough to never make fun of you again, no matter how much of a "sissy" you are for drinking "girly" drinks. |
