I like to think of myself as a disturbing hybrid of cultural acceptableness and geekiness. I love dungeons and dragons and video games and old cartoons, but I also try to be well-versed in "regular people topics" so I have something to talk about with everyone. I am not very technically proficient aside from film equipment, though.

I'm a total mix of the three. Around my friends I am a total geek, bragging about the cool things that I buy and my computer. When I'm alone I tend to become more of a nerd, expanding my knowledge via the internet or books. Around strangers I'm a total dork. |

And thank you for the clarification, Rogue. Not sure if it was off topic or not, but the thread title reminded me of the conundrum. Either way, I'm thinking being "cool" might be cheaper. I've been looking at the money I spend for my fandom, and the money "cool" people are spending and...Well, I can see why I'm always broke and my nieces aren't. :p |

There is indeed a difference.
Geek refers more to a follower of fandoms and nifty-type dealies, while a nerd is more into technical stuff and spending time edifying themselves. A dork is someone who's awkward in every which way. Personally, I think Xeu's more adorkable.  |

Isn't there a difference between the terms "Nerd" "Geek" and "Dork"? My "cool" little cousin was trying to teach me, cuz one day I actually professed to turning to the "cool" side because being a "nerd" was too expensive, and she started correcting me...and then I realized I didn't understand "popular" talk, so I tuned her out.
