Haha, sounds like my mom Kat. She randomly got really sick so she missed out on the family fun Friday/Saturday.
To be honest I was not in the mood for Chirstmas at all this year, just wasn't feeling the "spirit" or wahtever... but it was nice seeing family again only for two days this time. Grandma's doing well, though now she's heading out to Arizona to "give back the ring" to her new boyfriend since she's hesitant now, lol. Who knows what'll happen. As for my dad's side of the family it was nice seeing them without all the kids, though my sister and I were the youngest by a mile so it got a little boring after awhile. Not bad though. Ate lots of good food. Christmas gets thinner and thinner for me as the years go by, probably with a combination of me being older and our family being in the rut. But I never complain, ANY free thing is free after all. My favorite gift!? Getting a text from my mom saying I've got a completely flat tire the day before Christmas Eve! ... yeah. Luckily scraped up enough Christmas money to get my front two tires replaced, getting those worked on today. 2010 was a good year for me. Feels like it's being a little anticlimactic here with how it's wrapping up, haha. Maybe that's why I wasn't really "feeling" Christmas this year. 2011 will be a very challenging year, but I'm ready for it. |

Originally posted by Rogue Sorry, I should have specified. :p My Great-niece is 7 months old. My niece is the mother. She's only 16. Yah, got herself knocked up at 15 and had the baby a little less than a month after turnin 16. She's still super young, imo, but ehh, what's too young anymore? =/ And yeah, I was thinking the same thing "Shouldn't you be in Arizona by now?" XD |

You have a GREAT-niece who's moved out with a boyfriend already? When you said that I was picturing a 5-year-old at most.
Then again, I'm an only child and would never know what it's like to have even direct nieces and nephews. Christmas here was actually more uneventful than expected with it just being my parents, my grandmother, and Brandon. My cousin, who lives in Vegas, was saying he would be out here for Christmas on Saturday at his mom's, but we were never called to come over. Oh well. Brandon and I went hiking in Griffith Park for a while. Afterward, ate at this pleasant, candlelit French cafe. Came home and killed a bottle of wine while snacking on ham. Since Brandon and I would normally be in Arizona by now, people have been calling assuming we're there already. We're heading there Wednesday. |

You're here already?! Congrats! I hope you get used to it quickly and fall in love with the East Coast too.
I had the best Christmas EVAR! See, I have strep throat. So, I'm kinda pretty really sick right now. So, I got to avoid the family bullshit today. The only thing I was sad to have missed out on was being all over my Great-niece for her first Christmas. I'm so proud of my niece. She and her boyfriend have their own place and they did their own first Christmas together. But otherwise...family bullshit is inevitable with big families, but things have gotten worse. There's a much larger presence of cattiness, and so nothing is even remotely salvagable anymore. So, I woke up early. Opened some presents. Got a pretty new coat, some pajamas, and two shirts. My grandparents got me a new workstation for my art and crapola. And my mom began the process of repaying me some of the money she owes me. (Yes, her re-payment is a gift. And if I wasn't up to my eyeballs in medical debt, I wouldn't have taken it. I consider money toward her "given." but alas, I secretly needed it.) But then, I got to go back to bed. Woke up to some food brought to me. Ate. Went back to bed. Woke up, ate some more. Took a really long, really hot bath, went back to sleep, and here I am. About to go back to sleep. XD The most rest I've gotten in AGES. Uninterrupted too! I hope everyone else had a wonderful day as well. |

Neil Gaiman and Amanda Palmer did a Christmas video that they posted today, re-enacting "Labyrinth" with sock puppets:
But yeah, when my parents wanted to sit down and open gifts and we finally got my grandmother to come over and sit down with hers, she said, "Oooh, I won't open these until Christmas." "It is Christmas!" Brandon and I said in almost perfect unison. "What? I thought it was the 14th!!" ... She's losing it. We're probably going to see family friends in a bit. Might wander up to the snowy mountains for a bit. Thankfully it's been clear blue skies for the last few days. |

Where was that version of the holiday special?
It doesn't feel like Christmas at all, even though I am looking out the window at all the snow. I think we are just adjusting from the move. Ben's mom doesn't have a tree up because next week we should be moving into the new house so there was more important stuff to do. We are having a nice roast tonight though. |

I really miss being a kid. I woke up this morning and just went, "God, everything hurts..." and tried to go back to sleep.
Anyway, a friend posted this on Facebook. Worth a chuckle. |

Christmas Eve is always spent with my family, a mishmash of my dad's side and my mom's. Christmas day is spent with the in-laws... and is something I always dread because they do everything so differently... They don't open presents until after eating dinner (Even though dinner is at like, 1 in the afternoon...), so you're bored and making awkward conversation the whole day. =/ |

We still haven't set up our Christmas tree. My parents bought it more than a week ago when the rains first started, left it on the porch to dry and haven't brought it in. |

Christmas eve will be spent packing my things with my wife.
Christmas morning will consist of more packing, while afternoon will be presents and duck and bacon-wrapped venison for dinner. The next few days (except Monday and Tuesday) will be spent packing and moving my stuff into my new house that my wife and I bought on Tuesday (12/21/10). New Year's Eve will be spent at my new home with my wonderful wife just enjoying the internet (we can't afford internet and cable TV) and each other. I hope you all have an enjoyable Christmas and a happy new year! =D |

Yeah this month is going by way too fast.
Will be spending Christmas Eve with my grandma and her boyfriend, not sure if any cousins will be in town this time. After that I'll just have the usual morning Christmas with family, then we'll probably go to my dad's side of the family for the day. Not sure what I'm doing for New Years. If I go anywhere though I'm staying in for the night, last year that's when I got my first ticket... that sucked. Wasn't even drinking that night or anything, just speeding. |

Christmas is in a few days. Any plans?
Honestly, I can't believe it's already here. I feel like Thanksgiving was last week. Christmas is pretty much going to be spent at home with family. This is the first year having my grandmother living with us, and it looks like people are coming in from out of town. We usually head out to Arizona late Christmas, but looks like we're headed out next week and spending New Years out there. Hopefully we'll see the big meteor shower while we're out there too. The skies are clearer and you can see SOOOO many more stars. |
