That's tragic.

I've actually never read the Redwall books, but I watched the animated series that PBS aired from time to time. Brian did a short bit in every episode where he talked about characters or aspects of British culture. He was so wonderful.

What's weird is that I thought about Redwall for the first time in years yesterday... I hate how accurate my premonitions are sometimes!

I've also been thinking about Xanth quite a bit too, I'd be saddened if Piers Anthony died as well... :/

Aww. I never read the series myself, but I know a lot of people that enjoyed it. I am sure they will be crushed.

One of the best authors I read through out middle school and high school died on Feb 5, 2011. Brian Jacques the author of Redwall has finished his run in the marathon of life due to heart issues. Here's the article:

By The Associated Press (CP) – 1 day ago

LONDON — Brian Jacques, author of the bestselling "Redwall" adventures for children, has died. He was 71.

His family posted a notice on his website that Jacques died on Saturday. The Liverpool Echo newspaper said Tuesday that Jacques in a hospital where he was being treated for an aneurism on his aorta.

Redwall began as a story Jacques wrote for children at the Royal Wavertree School for the Blind in Liverpool. The book's hero was a timid mouse named Matthias who found the courage to protect his home, Redwall Abbey.

A former teacher, Alan Durband, showed the story to a publisher, and the first of the 21 Redwall books was published in 1986.

His last book will be coming out in May.
