Suffering from insomnia right now, actually. My body is just done and wants to shut down and stop moving, but my brain won't shut the hell up. It's full of energy and doing math problems and speaking to me. Lol. I feel like a Zubat is flapping around my head using supersonic with multiple tiers of other thoughts. I'm not fully conscious of what I'm writing, either. We'll see in the morning. Blah blah blah. |

I have had it really bad the last few days. Starting Tuesday I got about an hour of sleep, then I couldn't fall asleep last night tell about 3am. Then was up to watch my son at 6:30. When I am having trouble sleeping I have been reading in bed trying to fall asleep but it isn't working. |

You know, I was about to bump this thread with a post stating that I tried to sleep at 1am and didn't actually sleep until 7am, then waking up at 8:30am today... the entire time, my eyes closed and laying in bed... Ugh! |

They can either be really cool and video game-y, or just boring things that I could care less about. |

So Phoenix walks into a board...and remembers when he used to post all of the time. Now he has insomnia. Know what THAT means? Getting offline to sleep. But consider this post a warning: Later today, the streets will run red...with fire. Because I shall be posting. |

Wow, that must have been an interesting thing to hear. I have the cinematic dreams as well, but when I try to think about them it fades away. I have a friend who actually dreams of movies that he has seen, the whole movie... I think that is both odd and amazing.
But yeah, night terrors are scary shit. I know people that have them... and well, you can actually wake them but it is at your own peril because they swing out. |

Dreams that you have that you can't wake up from/ people aren't able to physically wake you from, are called "night terrors". My friend has dreams almost every day that you CANNOT wake him up from, even if he's screaming and kicking around. Even pouring water on him. He'd have the same dream every night, sounded HORRIBLE.
My dreams are usually blockbuster movies of some sort. I've had sci-fi, western, fantasy..etc. They don't happen often, but they usually include flashbacks and tied together plots that have an ending. I often will have very obvious reasons about why I dreamed about things. Lots of little things put together. The worst nightmares I've ever had was when I was 8 I had 105.6 fevers and I woke up hallucinating. I was in the middle of a dream and needed to be taken to the bathroom, but I was still stuck in a dream where I had a timer until I was going to be struck by lightning. And another one where I was slowly being crushed by a bolder that my friends and family were adding weight to. Apparently I was woken up and I screamed at my grandfather and said "NOOO! I DON'T WANT TO BE TAKEN AWAY BY A CENTAUR!" |

Yeah, that'd be quite odd if you were never exposed to anything like that beforehand.
Dreams... weird, weird stuff. I've had the "can't make a sound" thing happen to me sometimes too. On another note, I HAVE been watching the Elm Street movies lately, I love them haha. They aren't that scary at all to me, just more campy fun and such... but they still beg the question, what exactly are dreams and all. It's so weird it's almost scary. |

... wow... you were ten?! I wonder what triggered that, but that must have been so traumatic upon waking.
Evidence of a past life, perhaps? |

I usually can't remember my dreams nowadays but one particular nightmare has stuck with me for years.
I hadn't slept in four days, I had started seeing tracers and everything so it was definitely time to sleep. Pretty much as soon as I closed my eyes, I started dreaming and it was the most believable dream I've ever had, just far too real. I was a girl in this dream and I went about my day until it was the evening and I can't recall the events leading up to it but I ended up being raped by some stranger who broke into the house. It was horrifically vivid, more so than I would have ever wanted and no matter how much I tried to scream I couldn't make a sound. The pain seemed so real, not only physical pain but some indescribable emotional torment that I have yet to encounter in the waking world... This nightmare is one of the reasons why I think rapists should be castrated and why I am so sympathetic toward rape victims. I had this nightmare when I was around ten (hard to remember exactly as my memory of those years is EXTREMELY sketchy) and I actually had no idea what rape was back then. Edit: Also, I haven't told anybody about this dream until today. |

I have had some freaky dreams in my time... the one I remember most vividly was me being a superhero and having my base on the roof of the house. It was all rather odd... and my dreams tend to shift from one thing to another and I can never remember it upon waking. I tried keeping a dream journal for awhile but school destroyed that.
Worse nightmare I ever had though, that I can remember, was being shot. The odd thing that keeps happening to me is when I am falling asleep and I literally get the sensation of falling and I jerk like I would to keep from falling off of a chair or something. |

It's extremely rare for me, but I can recall several oddities...
- This had to have been when I was a kid, but I remember one dream where I was falling off a cliff or something and right when I hit the "ground", I had hit the ground in real life from rolling off my bed and woke up. Weird! - This was like last year or two ago, I guess it was more like a nightmare, but I just remember having a weird bad dream of sorts and there was like a grim reaper pinning me down in my bed that prevented me from waking up quickly. It was one of those strange times (maybe it's happened to you guys?) where it was like I knew I was dreaming, but couldn't wake. I woke up, then woke up again to being pinned down in bed, THEN really work up. PS this is before I had seen the Nightmare on Elm Street movies and everything!... lol - A few days ago I had another really weird dream where I couldn't wake up, it wasn't bad though. But it was weird. I was in this odd room with some friends I knew, and their stepdad for some reason. At one point I wanted to leave but couldn't find my shoes, then I found one I was going to borrow and when I looked at my feet after that my shoes were magically back on. That's about all I remember... wtf!? - The absolute worst and most nightmarish dream I've ever had was also within the last two years or so. It even pains me to think of this shit since it was so crazy, but all I remember is suddenly myself, friends and family, and others had formed a group circle in absolute pitch black, and there was the most excruciating screaming and yelling in the background I had ever heard, topped off with tornado-like thundering winds, then I remember someone saying "This is it" as people were being sucked into this void, into absolute nothingness. We could barely see each other in this circle but one by one it got darker and darker. When it hit me I woke up and it was seriously one of the worst, weirdest nightmares I've ever had, I think I immediately turned on my lights which I've never done before, and was really nervous about going back to sleep right away. It was like I was in my own kind of made up perception of Hell, living my fear of death, or something sick like that. Not fun. I've never really had good dreams to be honest. As a teenager, yeah I had "those" kinds of dreams for awhile but not anymore. Before that I usually had crazy dreams about robots or transforming tractors trying to kill me or something, but I was never really scared of that stuff back then. It was like I was living some ridiculous action movies or something. Nowadays my dreams are just weird as crap, and I get the weird occasional nightmare out of the blue sometimes I guess... |

Mine is pretty horrendous and has been for years, usually can take me hours to fall asleep. This past year it's gotten extreme with like a day or two a month where I simply cannot sleep at all until I'm absolutely about to pass out ~9am the next day. This past week was one of the worst I've had in a long time. I've been trying to force myself up earlier in the morning. But it's hard.
The problem is I need that 8 hours of sleep to really feel good the next day, and I pretty much never get it. Usually just 6 hours or so, and anything beyond 8 hours makes it even worse, I'm pretty sure oversleeping effects me even more than undersleeping. There's been nights this past year where I straight give up and just get on the computer again or play games. My problem is basically what Gurren described, once I hit the bed for some reason my mind has to explode and it won't rest, keeping me up. I've developed another bad habit this year and that's taking a nap once a day sometimes, which just messes up the schedule even more. I just don't understand how easily and quickly I can fall asleep during the day when it's a completely different story at night when I really need to sleep. Also an even more annoying thing is, sometimes after a day of being up without sleeping at all... that night I might finally be ready to pass out early at 10-12pm, but when I do on thesedays, I'll wake up a few hours later in the middle of the night and then I'm up for the rest of the night. So annoying... |

These lack couple months have been pretty hard on my body. A friend visited from another country and the three weeks they visited were hell(they weren't anything like the person I thought they were) During that time my body got put through a roller coaster of pain and annoyance. I broke out in acne and heat rashes, easily pulled my shoulder, went through horrible back, shoulder and neck pain, AND I became a complete Insomniac.
I don't mean that I just stayed up late. I mean that I literally could NOT fall asleep for hours of time, and when I did it was a horrible sleep. I got dark circles under my eyes, depressed, nightmares. The whole thing. But outside of these last couple months, I usually get kept awake talking with someone completely outside of my time zone. Or I get hooked to a new show or anime. |

When mine kicks in I end up palyin some kind of game or watchin somethin on Netflix. I did hollow out survival island last night when it kicked in. I have always wondered how my body functions on maybe 12 hours of sleep a week...... |
