Well, there was also Death Race, which had the amazing line uttered by Joan Allen's character during the peak action: "OK, cocksucker. Fuck with me and we'll see who shits on the sidewalk."
It's so funny that it's a huge deal right now that it was discovered that Chinese prison guards were forcing inmates to play WoW to farm gold for them which they'd sell. Anyway, I do wonder if California's finally going to carry out the executions of people sentenced to death row. In this state getting the death sentence is 20-30 years (on average) of waiting around and then maybe having your life end at the hands of the justice system. By the time your execution finally rolls around everyone forgot the severity of what you did and protests the system on your behalf saying you must have seen the light while you were in there. See: Tookie Williams. |

Isn't that pretty similar to the concept of the movie Gamer? |

I'm sorry if we give those one death row guns and tell them to kill each other and then showed it on ppv we could make bank.

I have an idea!
Let's make a show where we give prisoners a gun. They have an arena where they have to fight to the death. Rocket Launchers, Grenades, Machine guns, and more! Oh wait that's a videogame and no one in their right mind would make this happen because "OH LIFE IS SOOOOO PRECIOUS WE GOTTA FREE DA RAPERS" |

I remember hearing that it was the least violent offenders that were being let out, but I don't really know for sure. Honestly, if we worked on fixing the prison system to actually rehabilitate people then perhaps it wouldn't be such a scary thing. How about we actually execute the people on death row to free up some space? Sounds harsh, but like Nelrith said, they are gonna die anyway. |

Unfortunately, most people have that wacky slapstick version of prison stuck in their minds so we all know what they'll likely vote. |

I thought in the 80's we kinda made this clear to the public that Jail is not a very fun place to be in and that if you go there you will quite literally get hurt and pay for the crimes you commit.
If you have never seen the Documentary "Scared Straight" then you really need to do yourself a favor and watch this: "Scared Straight" is also a program that gets disobedient kids and they literally "Get the hell scared out of them" by high ranking jail-timers. So anyways, we already made it clear to the public that Jail isn't like in the movies. It's not a fun place to be in. And the state is ordering thousands to let people who commit crimes out of jail!? No! Keep them in there! |

If they're on death row, 100% proven guilty, caught red-handed, etc... They're going to die anyway. I watched an episode of House that was apparently based loosely on an actual case, where somebody due to have his sentence carried out the next week got violently sick and his death got postponed because he was dying... it doesn't make sense to me, though I don't believe in anybody suffering and I actually oppose the death sentence...
I'm weird. |

The U.S. Supreme Court has decided to uphold a case that put forth that California's prisons are overcrowded and at least 33,000 inmates need to be released as soon as possible.
One of the main arguments is that the inmates aren't getting proper enough health care or are in some situations where they'll be placed in a space the size of a phone booth while the authorities decide what to do with them. Source There are no details on the crimes committed by these soon-to-be released criminals, but most are assuming they are murderers, rapists, thieves, drug dealers, and so on. So, what are your thoughts on this? What do you think of prison overcrowding? And what do you think about providing more comfortable conditions for convicted felons? |
