Indeed! As I kept thinking and even saying to Stitch as we were watching all of the illegal stuff being fired over South Central and East L.A. it was like being a general watching battles happening in the distance.
The Hollywood Bowl looked like a volcano erupting in the hills. We could see some of the Rose Bowl from the other side of the mountains too. Dodger Stadium and some other spots were shooting off their own professional displays too. The only other time I recall seeing such a grand 4th of July jubilee was riding the Metro Blue Line right after Anime Expo a couple years ago. It goes through South Central, Compton, and other poorer neighborhoods where everyone is somehow able to get their hands on the good, illegal stuff. It was like riding through the fireworks. It almost seemed like people were aiming for the train. Pity there's no high point in the O.C. I'm sure being able to see Disneyland and Knott's at the same time would have been a trip. |

Originally posted by Rogue I always wanted to do that, though I just planned to go to Signal Hill since it was closer. Griffith Park sounds like it had bigger shows to spy on. |

I spent most of the day with that distinct feeling that my lunch was trying to declare independence from my digestive system. |

Happy Independence Day!! Love, your local American Studies/journalism major graduate.
After hanging out at a friend of a friend's barbecue, Stitch, Brandon, and I headed up to the Griffith Observatory in Los Angeles and watched the fireworks shooting up all over the place -- from Pasadena, the Hollywood Bowl, Dodger Stadium, East L.A., downtown, South Central, and every neighborhood in between shooting off illegal fireworks into the air. It was so surreal. Right now, we're sitting at my place drinking wine, eating cheese, and watching movies. |

Saw my friends band play at Noodles & Co, went back to a friends place to play some board games and have some Corona's, watched some Indian Jones.
Yeah it was awesome. Also sent out and application for a good job I hope I get earlier today, haha. |

I spent most of my day studying (midterm tomorrow)... But had a nice barbecue with my family, including a couple relatives I don't see often. I didn't really care that I had to go home and not see fireworks. Good food, good people, good times. |

I blew up a propane tank and had the cops called on us.
Just a normal 4th here in GA. Also drinking on Blue Moon and had a nice cookout. I'd say I had a good 4th. |

Hope everyone had a happy fourth. We went down the Pittsburgh for the Three Rivers Regatta and it was awesome. Walked around three miles doing lots of fun stuff (for FREE), had a great lunch at the casino, watched a cool Springsteen cover band, and saw the best firework show ever.
It did rain during the first two sets of the band... a bunch of people ran for cover and we just sat there. The singer was impressed, singling Ben out since he seemed most nonplussed. It was super hot before that, so I was fine with the rain. Then it stopped, then started again, then stopped, then started AGAIN... we were SOAKED. It was such fun! |
