Sounds like she wanted some attention as a hero. That is just stupid though. Really stupid.

I mean, did she put the baby behind the gas station and originally intend to leave it there or did she just call and make a false report without trying to abandon it?

Seriously. The whole story (and the wording) feels weird.

But bleh.

Was she hoping people would think she was a hero?

Hernandez faces a possible charge of filing a false police report.

Wow, awful.

Terrible coincidences everywhere.

So this story was in the news yesterday.

I was watching the news a couple nights ago (it was top story, actually) when this woman in Long Beach was being interviewed for finding an abandoned baby wrapped in plastic bags behind a gas station. You know, she was just walking along the sidewalk and heard this baby crying, took it in, called the police, and tried to take care of the newborn while authorities came to take the baby away. She was being treated like she was a hero and everything, and all of the reporters were just so enamored with her.

The next day, it was revealed the baby was her granddaughter. Her 28-year-old daughter gave birth at home, not long before the police were called, and gave the baby to her to do with what she will.

I don't know how it is anywhere else, but Long Beach is PACKED with safe drop-off places for unwanted newborns. You can just leave them, no questions asked, at any fire station or hospital. Why go through all this drama? Ugh...
