I actually haven't seen Hugo yet, but I'm something of a fan for Martin Scorsese, so I know I'll see it some time in the near future.
It's kind of funny that the only Oscar talk people are still buzzing about was Billy Crystal's black face during the opening presentation. |

A little late, I know...but "Hugo" got a lot of attention too...
And, I don't know...I was actually pretty excited about that. I ended up seeing the movie on a whim, but I was glad that I did. Ben Kingsley was fantastic, as always. I'm a fan of color schemes though. And the whole feel the colors in the movie brought on were really what did it for me. But it was refreshing, since things suck so hard lately. As for Billy Crystal...Its sad seeing him get old. **goes back to watching Billy Crystal on "Soap"** |

It's sort of reminding me of last year because a lot of people really didn't care about "The King's Speech," and couldn't believe it won.
Seriously, it's like the only buzz I'm hearing are people bitching about this or that. Good god, the Cirque du Soleil performance... Anyway, I'm kind of annoyed The Conspirator was completely shut out. I feel like The Artist only got so much love because of the sheer irony of it being a silent, black-and-white movie nowadays. |

Honestly, I had no idea what half the movies were. The nominees for best picture... I knew of The Help and War Horse and had never seen anything about the others. I didn't think I was that ignorant of cinema this year, but even Ben knew about some of the others so I was like "WTF?"
But yeah... the entire awards thing was kinda crap to me since I didn't know much or care about any of the films being nominated. |

I'm watching them right now.
My god, how anti-climactic. None of the movies I was into last year got much attention. There's nothing that I'm really in awe of that's winning. Pretty much I haven't been so apathetic, and that's saying something since there's usually at least one thing I really like that's been thrown up there, but there's NOTHING this year. 
Thoughts? Anyone else watching? I'm still amused that no one's laughing at Billy Crystal's jokes. HAHAHAHA.. whoever did the voiceovers for the clips they're showing of upcoming films they're talking about, they just said "With no clear favorite tonight, anyone could win!" You said it, random voice. |
