I've been a little slow catching up on this one, actually...but I get all choked up every time I look at the pictures....the video...Seriously. Like...that's Mars we're looking at. What it looks like. Not a computerized documentary narrated by Sam Neil or Morgan Freeman--Which I'm totally NOT knocking. It's just easier to convey how...just amazing this is... |

Finally! Some people outside reddit that are happy about the landing! Everyone I talked to at my work that day said "oh, I don't care about space stuff" and I was like "WHAT?! ITS SO IMPORTANT AND COOL AND AWESOME AND BLARGH!!!" so yeah... =D
I watched the live twitter stream, but couldn't get out of bed to watch the livestream. Its amazing that such a complex system performed perfectly and flawlessly to land an SUV sized thing on another planet. Can't wait for humans to go beyond LEO again...Moon landings would be cool to see. |

I did... or at least as best as I could with the internet cutting out all of the time. It was so awesome to see the JPL staff literally jumping for joy over the landing. |
