Gotta say I saw a bit of Attack on Titan and wasn't really feeling it. Huh... even has the Death Note director or something, which I really enjoyed.
Maybe if it had Gundam's in it. |

Originally posted by Sorcha Rohan I only recently watched Madoka Magica, but that is probably one of my favorites. And Attack on Titan is really good, and I highly reccomend the manga for anyone just barely getting by from the anime. I also really like the Persona 4 Animation. Have any of you read the LP for Dangan Ronpa? They just released an anime for it, and it's a bit...lackluster. |

Nocturne has the demon collecting, as well as all of the other mainline SMT games, but DDS completely ousts that for having a team of core characters. Persona 3 and 4, on the other hand, have it somewhere in the middle, where you collect cards that "summon" demons (they're pretty much equipment that give you abilities and stats and only pop out when you use an ability) and gathering them is a simple "card shuffle" minigame at the end of some battles. Nine times out of ten, though, you will get your new demons/personas via fusion, so it's not as tedious as Pokemon, not by a long shot... except for when Lilim takes most of your health, half of your money, a few of your items, then conveniently finds an excuse to run away instead of joining your party... |

Yeah for now I'm a bit more interested in the SMT stuff like Nocturne and whatnot. Sci-fi, darker (I think), etc. Sounds like Nocturne has some kind of Pokemon-ish monster collecting thing going on though, and DDS is more traditional?
These and the Devil Summoner games got reprints by the way for those who didn't know by now, so they're not that expensive anymore. |

With any of the SMT stuff, whether spinoffs or mainline, you really have to just sit down with one of the games for a while until you get into it, then the whole series is fun. Then again, there are a few that pull you in pretty quickly, like Nocturne or Digital Devil Saga.
Anyway, I'll admit, watching the anime did make me want to play Persona 4 more. |

That's cool to hear. Seems like video game adaptations are hit or miss sometimes (I hear the Valkyrie Chronicles series isn't that great). I've been thinking of watching Persona 4 to see if it'll get me more interested in the game... lol. Only played a little bit but it didn't pull me in. Been wanting to give it and the SMT stuff another shot sometime though. |

Would definitely be Persona 4 The Animation. It follows the game's storyline very well, great animation and art style, and the main character not only speaks but him and all of the other characters are bursting with personality. Did I mention that the dubbed version is also really great?

hmm... I didn't have many favorites from 2012... Wasn't Puella Magi Madoka 2012? 2013 is another story.
Attack on Titan has been pretty good... I liked the meme that came out of it. and now for the fun part. Attack on Witch Attack on DBZ Attack on Snuggle Bollywood |
