Ah, I know the feeling of a deadbeat ex. A certain ginger owes me a couple thousand from the summer of '03.

Well, if you really want it...:p Lemme look into what kind of extortion I can get away with.

If you did move, I'd HAVE to make a trip out to Pittsburg before you go!
And did I hear someone owes you money? I am quite adept at getting people's money back for them....so, I'll offer my services if need be. Free of charge. I'll consider it training to become Ray Donovan when I grow up. |

Indeed he did... I can only imagine how he'd freak out if I moved there. He still owes me money.
But yeah, it would be nice since it would also make visiting friends and family easier. As for my Pennsylvania friends, I can con them into visiting and try to steal them away from this place. |

Originally posted by Elara Well, it wasn't meant to discourage you. I have so many university friends who moved to Portland and there's tons of things I want to see there. And hell, I miss the '90s. EDIT: And Garrett moved up there, if I'm not mistaken. |

Yeah... that is only strengthening my resolve.
Though, to be fair, you can put a bird on something and call it art anywhere now. I've seen vendors at the art festival here that fling paint onto a canvas with a drum stick and call it the sound of music (granted, watching them do it is kinda neat). |

That's all I'm going to input. |

Yeah, the wacky liberals drive me nuts as well, but at least I won't have to hear racial slurs and be the only person willing to work on a Sunday anymore. |

You had me at "Oregon". <3
It would probably be northern Oregon, as far as employment is concerned, but Oregon on the whole is a lot more on the liberal side. Our only conservatives seem to be the tin-foil hat wearing, Fox News watching kind, but the ones here are relatively harmless. To be honest, I find the local super-liberals to be more annoying, hence my post about femi-nazis the other night on Facebook. |

But honestly, according to your situation, Oregon definitely sounds like the ideal place. And honestly, getting teaching jobs in my area is VERY difficult and I don't know much about how to go about it. But as far as the wants, Oregon definitely seems legit, and if the jobs are showing up...costs of relocating may be difficult, but if you have a sure thing and can cover them eventually, then I'd go with a sure thing if I could. |

Just letting you know, NorCal is definitely not more liberal, xD. Almost everoyne I knew in that whole area were either very republican or drug dealers who weren't interested in such things. |

So my last semester of Grad school is closing in and then I am entering the real world of career building and stuff.
This brings up interesting possibilities. One of which is getting the hell out of this state. Not that I would refuse a job here if it came up, because... well... let's face it, in teaching, beggars can't be choosers. But for now, I have options. Both of my cohabitors are interested in escaping this area as well, Ben moreso than his mother. Southern California is not a preferred region though, since they apparently have no desire to go back... I wouldn't really mind, but I get where they are coming from. The general list of wants is less humid, but still green and seasony... and more liberal. Because of family ties on their part, this makes Oregon the most likely candidate. Others are Nor Cal and Washington (yes, we miss the west coast). I looked at a few job sites, and of all four states (including PA just in case), all the jobs that came up were in and around Portland, so this bodes well. I have one potential out here as well... supposedly... but we will see where this leads. The downside to all this is the cost of relocating again. I don't know how worth it this would be, or if there is any chance in hell of possible coverage of costs by a school (unlikely, I know). Also, we have made some good friends here and leaving them behind would definitely suck. Opinions or thoughts from anyone would be appreciated. |
