Mine has changed up a bit.
Since the stories about Manson dropped I literally can't listen to him anymore. I also largely don't care for Dream Theater or prog rock anymore... or I just have to be in the mood for them. Otherwise, most of the list still applies and I greatly love listening to any of them... but I tend to gravitate towards just a few: Rammstein The Stupendium (very talented songs based on games and nerd stuff) Nightwish Blind Guardian Kamelot Disturbed Sabaton (sometimes) A metric fuckton of YouTube artists that do metal covers Peter Hollens I've also found I enjoy Lil Nas X |

I don't even know if I HAVE a favorite band any more? It's like I listed mostly friends' bands the last time, which was *Jumps back a sex four years ago.
Namely (friends' bands): The Dread Crew of Oddwood (they played my wedding) Poxy Boggards Kirby's Dream Band Old Man Wizard Vic Viper Bonehenge I still listen to them, but they haven't really put out anything new in a while. Favorites that are endured that I'm not personally friends with: Metallica Flogging Molly Dropkick Murpheys The Dreadnoughts The Fratellis Gogol Bordello Dusty Rhodes and the River Band Rumjacks I've been listening to so many different things right now, just to broaden my tastes a bit. Right now it's a lot of: Tom Waits Nick Cave Matt Berry Howlin' Wolf Flat Duo Jets Squirrel Nut Zippers Billie Holiday Nina Simone Son House Blind Willie Johnson Bessie Smith Memphis Minnie Ma Rainey Scott Joplin A lot of jazz, blues, ragtime, southern gothic, rockabilly, psychobilly, big band. |

Feeder.
If anyone knows of them here (which I doubt), it’s probably either for “High†or “Buck Rogersâ€. The former got to #24 in the US charts in 1997, while the latter was used in the film “Behind Enemy Linesâ€. Still, I have much of their material - I should upload an image of my collection really fairly soon. |

Originally posted by Rogue Good lord how things change. Several of these have definitely fallen off the list (can't stand Merry Wives these days.) And hell, Sonic Transducer is now Voidcrush. Hmm... My favorites these days: The Dread Crew of Oddwood Flogging Molly Poxy Boggards Kirby's Dream Band Old Man Wizard Gogol Bordello Alestorm Metallica But if we're counting all the bands whose music I like over most others: Lordi Vic Viper Dropkick Murphys Dethklok Bad Religion Motörhead Jonathan Coulton The Rayford Bros Johnny Cash Radioactive Chickenheads Old Crow Medicine Show Ninja Sex Party Tartanic Korpiklaani Peter Hollens The Killers The Rumjacks The Pirates Charles Reel Big Fish There may be others. I did write quite a few more, but ended up removing them, even bumping several from favorites down to the second list. I've honed it a bit. But there's also these... Guilty pleasures: Ricky Martin Shakira PSY |

Originally posted by Elara Hate to bump a twelve year old thread but want to add some things to this thread. Seriously Elara?! No Gary Numan in that list? If it weren't for him then there would be no Nine Inch Nails, Marilyn Manson and Fear Factory along with related bands as they all pretty much cited him and early Ministry (1980's material before they turned to industrial metal) as major influences. Add in some other artists also from the New wave and synthpop craze of the 80's such as Depeche Mode and Eurythmics (which I'm surprised you like) and you've got the bands that influenced Nine Inch Nails, Marilyn Manson and Fear Factory among others. Before I end this portion of my reply, I will leave this song for Elara. Let me know how you like it. Just remember that without this song, there would be no Nine Inch Nails, Marilyn Manson and Fear Factory among others. Also, do you like Icehouse (A 1980's band similar to Oingo Boingo) Anyways, I listen to everything that is good except Christian (unless it's Skillet or similar bands) and Country (unless it's played on an Adult Contemporary station) EDIT: Listened to Oingo Boingo last night and Elara was not kidding when she said Danny Elfman always rocks. |

Over time there have been others I have up on my list. Since this thread is revived I can list a couple of 'em.
Symphony X Edguy Rhapsody Rancid I guess. Judas Preist Iron Maiden (Haven't heard too much. Still getting some songs. I've always known about them, just haven't listened to much) And a couple others I'm probably forgetting. |

I have a few favorites since i like different kinds of music, Dream Theater and Symphony X are my favorite progressive rock bands, Michael Angelo Batio for metal (the best shredder I've ever heard), The Stan Kenton Orchestra for jazz, and I also like Yanni who does new age. So many artists make good electronica and techno, ranging from Gorillaz to 2 Unlimited. Also, Dream Theater also has done several side projects like Liquid Tension Experiment, Suspended Animation, and James Labrie's solo album. I like Coheed and Cambria now just because of how high the singer's voice is, it's pretty funny. |
