Yeah, I don't like credit cards either. Unfortunatly, you need credit to get anything, such as loans and an apartment.
I'm still thinking about it, I think we might get separate credit cards, that way we can build credit up in our name. As soon as I have some decent credit built up, I WILL destroy the card, I can garuntee that. |

I don't like credit cards, they have a very bad history, I am really dreading when I have to get one too confusing and the company's try and rip you off too
But like many have said here, I would personally not share credit with anyone, not even my partner, it can be a very stinky situations if you where to brake up or something, but most people seem to get along great with it and stay together. Just be careful A good luck too with finding an apartment |

I still think shared credit is a bad idea. Even if you're positive you're staying together...some things just add pressure and all. I've seen family members who've had shared credit, and when things got tough financially for them, that aded a lot of pressure. That's just what I saw though. I don't really know much else about it.
Other than that...don't go with like solid credit cards. Again, I dunno much, I just know it's really bad, especially among younger people. Other than that...you and I can exchange mailing addresses so when I'm 18 we can help each other out. Only a year and 10 days 'til I'm 18. |

*Looks at Katie* hey hun, what's your mailing address? Yeah... Oh, Xeo, I migh... XEO SAMA?! *shakes head* hehe... Anyway, yeah, we MIGHT share credit. we're pretty much safe as we're already pretty sure we won't break up *shows engagement ring* But we're not sure if we will or not. |

It's pretty sad considering I just learned about this kind of thing in my personal financing class ... but honestly, I can't think of anything.
But are you guys going to share credit? That could be bad, a guest speaker gave us a few situations with people that "shared" credit, and in the end it turned out to be a bad thing. (Couples, whom broke up, and one stopped paying for the credit, thus the other had to pay for all of it) Yeah, that's all I can remember. |

Ok, I'm 18, and I don't have any established credit. My Fiance also doesn't have any established credit. We're trying to move out to get an apartment, but a lot of places require a qredit history.
I've heard, through my mum, a good way to get credit is to go to a department store like JcPenney's or Mervyn's and get a store card. Have any of you had experience with this? Anyone know a good way to build credit? Any ideas would be great! EDIT : JUST now noticed my birthday thread, from 3/2. Just wanted to thank everyone for the good birthday wishes. |
