wow, going beyond comprehension is fun.
time is connected to space in a way that we cannot find a way 'out' to observe how it actually works. Since we've never actually seen it, if somebody told us what it 'looked' like we could still never understand, for it's probably not even in a visible dimension. Something that relates to a shape to me would be the spiral, that eternally forms larger spirals, much like how DNA forms a chromosome. It seems to be the closest we can come to a perfect combination of all dimensions, though even this would not be a definate shape. This time-space continuem, then, is more like a pattern than a shape, forming something that goes beyond our minds' limit. A lot to think about while glazing around in math. |

Well I reckon everyone has their own piece, but from the mother's string a string splits off completely which starts the new life. Kinda like a massive, massive timeline.

Well, following yours then those strings must angle with other strings, making it one big mess of string.
*watches at the cat comes by the play with it.* |

I think of time as a never ending piece of string, that has splits when you need to make a choice. You move across the string at a constant speed, you can't go back or speed forward. In the end the string comes back together to show death |

it would probably be a good idea to create a new forum for philosophy, is would open up an entire new branch for this forum. |

I know this is off topic, but I honestly wonder if I should come up with a new forum name and description for this forum.
Honestly, it appears to just be a forum for Politics and such, when I think Philosophy should easily be allowed and noticable that it is, also. Also, I like talking Philosophy way more than Politics. Ok anyways ... time, is an illusion. |

We're talking philosophy, it doesn'tneed to make any sense. |

does it need to have a shape? what is the shape of light? or the color of gravity? what is the ringtone of atomic mass? shape loses any meaning when applied to something like time....but it is shaped like a giant smiley face |

That is an interesting theory Tamarin, on that I must agree with.
I believe also that time could be like a giant generation chart. It starts with only one thing, then branches off into other dimensions as each thing that happens could have happened a different way. |

Isn't a continuum essentially a fancy word for a straight line, or am I wrong about that? I probably am.
Hm. I have a possibility. Similar to Vulkar's idea, but more the shape of a funnel, the narrow end being the past and the open end the future, with the present being at the junction of the two. What happened in the past has happened, and at this time cannot be changed. However, the future is not set in stone. |

Pockets has a really good speel about this. I think he plans on writing a novel called, " The Scars of Time," or something to that affect.
Time isn't a straight line I think it's continium of some sort. |

But since time is relative, it couldn't really be a defined shape. It would have to be, like, a waterbed or something.
Oh...deep. |

A spiral sounds more correct, because time is a continous illusion.

So far, we have never debated anything philisophical. It's time that I think we should do that.
I believe time's shape is in a globe. You in the middle, with one hlaf of it being past, and one half being future. In it are all the possibilities of what you could have done, or all the choices you could make, or are making. Others believe that time is in a spiral, or in a line. What do you all think? |
