interestingly enough the christian bible (the king james version) openly admits the existance of magic, in as much as it forbids doing it

Evil?
Well, if you call BADASS Anime, Sweet Music, hentai games, Games, Cars, Schoolgirls, and Japanese girls in general evil, then I'm the Lord of Evil o.O.

Err... Anyway, lol.

A religous choice is yours. Nobody has the nesicity to know what you believe in. If you know your parents would freak out, Who Cares? Non of their buisness. if they keep pressing you, then tell them in a Matter of Factly tone.

Like me for example, I lost faith in my religion. But I'm not about ready to tell my parents that.
1) None of their buisness
2) Don't care to hear MORE from my mother. lol.

evil Japan?

uhm.... the US attacked Japan first.... they just didn't do it so blatantly like the Japanese did

the US knew it had to get into the war, but knew it's people didn't want to.... so they hit first, got hit back.... and then kicked some ass

anyway! again I agree.... there is being too fanatical about your religion. Some people just can't accept anything else. In a sense they shouldn't have to accept it as being right, but they really shouldn't go on and on and on and on about how "wrong and evil" certain choices are. In my mind, you make your point and then move on and let the person decide what they want to do.

Mother was born just before we got involved in WWII. She was 2 when the attack on Pearl Harbor happened, and from all appearances she hasn't forgiven them yet... though she has forgiven Germany.

... oh... and that evil anime they make, and foreign cars. It goes on, and gets dumber.

I respect you for that. Though those particular Christians annoy the hell out of me (my mom is one of those "Japan is evil" types).

My mom is 66 now, and as far as I know she is clueless... and I shall keep it that way until I can afford to move out, because I know she will bitch so incessantly that I will not be able to remain living here... that is if she doesn't kick me out after finally accepting it.

My mom denies she's Christian (though I KNOW she is), as a matter of fact, but she's 57, so likely her views will not change much from one fact. She pretends to not care about my dad's religious standing, but it does subtly show though sometimes. I won't even TELL my sister, since she's a hardcore aetheist, and very opinionated. My grandmother? As far as she's concerned, fine. I'm Christian. I'll let her go to her grave happy. She's 86, and a tough-as-nails Christian. Y'know, the kind who believe abortion is evil, gay marriage is evil, videogames are evil, Japan is evil... But she's a sweetheart to me, and I respect her too much to let her hear my views on religion, because it will only cause her pain.

Elara: the "other gods" in that commandment don't neccesarily mean other "supreme beings".... they could be anything else like a love of money or status or power over a love of god.... putting your career before God...

anythings like that...

not to say that you are wrong in your interpretation.... I agree, there are more gods that just "GOD"... but like the scripture says.... he comes first

You're mom's a Christian fanatic... yet she's married to an Atheist? That is rather odd... then again, my great grandparents are an Atheist and a Jehovah's Witness, so yeah.

Whoopsies. Sorry.
My dad was just like, "Cool."
He's an aetheists, so he honestly doesn't give a rat's ass about anyone as far as religion is concerned. I couuld tell him I was a Satanic Muslim Extremist, and he'd be like "Whatever, man."

In essence, she just plain freaked. She won't even talk about it.

Hmm... see, if I was Wiccan, I'd probably have an easier time in this house... both parents are, and my grandmother's a very open-minded Christian (she has to be, to be living with two wiccans )

But then, we can't all be lucky enough to have parents like mine, who don't really care what religion I follow (although they wish I would follow ONE, as opposed to being Atheist, but that doesn't bother them much...).

Yeah, mothers never understand. As far as I know, my mother still hasn't figured it out and I am not telling her until I move out. Otherwise, I will be thrown out of the house, because no matter how many times I explain different religions to her, she always reverts to the "If you're not Christian you are going to Hell. Wicca is Satanic, Muslims are terrorists, etc" view... and she claims to be a liberal.

People like that will tend to make you hate Christians, but you will also meet people that will redeem the faith itself because they are not like that. Hell, I've even known some Jehovah's Witnesses that managed to redeem the religion in my eyes... and considering my ex-fiancee's Witness mother from hell, that was not an easy thing to do.

@Elara: My parents found out recently. My dad took it better than my mom, who claimed that it's a cult, and it would only mean my death. What I'm getting out of my wonderful, Conservative, fundamentalist mother, is that she'd rather have no son than a Wiccan son. I, on the other hand, don't give a good goddamn about what she has to say, since I know that her right winged views are horribly skewed, and misjudged. I'm starting to dislike Christiannity more than when I was aetheist.

I'm fine with any religion as long as it doesn't involve torturing animals or any weird crap like that.

Hehe, I got out of disecting rats in Anatomy by saying it was against my religion. The teacher didn't question me, either. W00t. Schools are very sensitive to religion. *nods* They have to let you do something if your religion supports it (as long as it's not extreme). Like this one guy was wearing a turban or head wrap or something to do with his religion. *nods*

I just don't know why people are so uptight about religion. That's the main issue. They think other religions are crazy because they think theirs is the only way or something like that. *has confused self*

Do you only have to deal with that at school or at home too?

Probably, again, because they think that Wicca is Satanism, which it's not. There is nothing wrong with true Satanism either if you look at it... it's the wannabe fuckers that reinforce stereotypes that cause all this trouble!

Just remember, if people start to really get on your case, point out that Wicca is a legally recognized religion in the eyes of the Federal Governement (no matter how much Bush hates it), and thusly is protected under the First Amendment right to freedom of religion... and that if they persist in harassing you, you will report it to the authorities. I did that in my 9th grade year and it helped... of course it can be as simple as telling the pricipal or VP that the reason you are in their office for a dispute is because the other person is harrassing you because of your religion. Half the time schools are so terrified of the thought of angry parents suing the school because their kid's rights were violated that they don't bother to ask what your religion is. If they do ask, you point out the recognization thing.

Which brings up another point, do you're parents know yet?

Found another thing that grinds my gears:
I want to buy a pentacle online, and maybe learn some riturals that are commonly practiced, but now I cannot, because the fucking Sonicwall (hardware) blocks anything that has to do with the Craft or Wicca in general. Not fair.

I hate when people try to force their religion on you. Cause it just makes you have even less respect for the religion.

That's one thing that bothered me about Sol. *eyes glaze over and a look of hatred crosses her face*

My little step-sister's fater and grandparents are Mormon. For a while, she was afraid to tell them that she didn't believe in God. That's how much pressure religion can put on you. "If you don't believe in god, you're going to hell."

Personally, I think that if there is a God, and you chose to worship on Saturday instead of Sunday, or even freaking Thursday, he would be happy. I also believe that if you live a good enough life, God's not going to send you to hell for not practicing certain elements of religion.

If God (or any God or Goddess) was like that, I would not want to worship them anyway.

*shrugs* my feeling on it. Love Gods/Goddesses how you shall. You are all acknowledging that there is something greater than you. I believe that is what would count? Merh?
