It's just like a friends list pretty much. You select "Friends" to play online, and it'll look to see if anyone on your list is online, so you can play with them.

I have no Friend Code for you though, Xeo, too bad. Because I still have not aquired the DS! And it's one of my quest items too, which is a shame. In Mario Kart DS, go to Mario Kart WFC, then Friend Codes, then Comform Friend Code at the bottom. It should display your code. |

If you've been able to get online somewhere with your DS, you should have a Friend Code. Post yours here, and when we play online we might get to play eachother. 
I'll post mine in a bit, just let me find my DS. 
The game I seem to be playing the most now on my DS is Mario Kart. So far I've unlocked an extra kart for everyone, Dry Bones, Daisy, and Waluigi. I'm working on beating 150cc now to get ROB the robot, and 7 selectable karts for each character. |
