The trick to getting it to 3 hours is simple....
Skip every single movie scene...Thats a big one... Without the stealth camo, I timed every single enemy's patroll route, I mapped out all the areas on CAD creations...And timing it just right to skim through without every enemy seeinng me... The boss fight with THE END, Go into your playstation's internal cvlock and skip ahead a week, load the game, and THE END is dead when you load the game...Or you can kill him in the wheel chair when you first see him... Kill the Fury using the knife...Took me 30 seconds... The Boss? I had a rapid fire controller using CQC and killed her using the mark 22 Hushpuppy... The Metal Gear evasion part is the most time comsuming, you have to be in FPS the entire time... .... If you think thats amazing, I can beat MGS1 for the PS1 in 45 miunites without getting cought...MGS2...1 hour 15 miunites... I play this game WAY too much... Byt yeah Voltron, get the online game, I own....and its fun |

I'd buy Subsistence if I could pay for the online thing... it looks so incredible. But, I only have the original version... it was 20 bucks so I got it, and its was one of the best buys ever.
Sajin that record is crazy. It took me something like 21 hours to beat it on NORMAL mode. With 144 kills. BUT THIS TIME AROUND! I'm speeding through it, rolling through enemies to knock them out (if I get an alert) and just putting everyone to sleep, getting all the camo (I only missed two, raindrop and moss). Its still such a great game, even on my third replay. Its so much more fun if you don't kill the guys. They should've made a "No Weapons Mode". You just go around with your bare hands (but you can get the Cigar Spray and the Handkerchief, for fairness sake). The part where you break out is definetly my favorite part, especially if you pick up the... I think its M83? I dunno what the numbers are, but its a machine gun, the one where Snake screams when you shoot it. Oh, that was so awesome... too bad I can't do it if I'm trying to not kill anyone. |

*Bump*
Played and beated European Extreme mode in 3:12:13 while getting the Infinite Ammo Facepaint and the stealth camo in one running. I wish I had a camera phone so I can take a picture of it to make it more believeable... But now im working on getting all the camoflagues in EE (European Extreme)...I missed a Ton of them once I got to Grozni Grad... I think the hardest part to me was escaping the jail cell you were in when you get cought in the game... And im playing the online portion of it as we speak...Everyone agrees that its highly addicting...I like the costumes you get as a FOXHOUND UNIT... Reason why I bumped this was to know who playes this game online? |

Originally posted by Voltron Do you have Subsist....however the new version is spelled? If so, go for European Mode. Heh. It's the hardest difficulty after Very Hard I believe. Basically, if you get caught and the alarms go off, it's game over. Sounds like Splinter Cell. |

Aw yeah, so I just beat it again on Normal difficulty, got 144 total kills, only Stamina-killed all of the bosses (I beat The Boss with the Cigar Gas Spray. That was so fucking cool... yet dissapointing... but cool at the same time!) I got Crocodile Rank (again... I didn't know I did that bad). Oh, but I did forget to play the game for a week so I didn't get to kill The End, so I didn't get the Mosin Nagant, which is, I think, one of the more useful weapons. I never did get the Moss Camo either, but I did get the Stealth Camo this time around...
Should I go for no kills in Normal Mode again, or should I go for the gold and try Hard or Very Hard mode? |

It's fun playing this game when you actually know about CQC.
Yeah, I first played and beat this game without using CQC, I just didn't know about it. I always tried to grab people with Square and then I'd always get caught (since that was the button to use for the other MGS's). And I'm also not playing on Easy like I first did. Easy just wasn't even fun, you didn't even have to try at all. |

I hear talk that on the online play, some of the servers will have the "Girly Magazines" with *ahem* anime in them...
Lol... Can't wait to get the satisfaction of reaching my goal by tricking my opponet into doing other things... |

Originally posted by Bloodreign Yeah, my friend got the DVD a week or so ago and we watched the parts about all of the Metal Gear games in it. I thought Kojima said he helped out a "little bit" with the NES version, but you could be right. I remember him saying that in the end of the game, they didn't even show or have Metal Gear as the final boss. And yeah, then completely made Snakes Revenge without him. So I'm pretty excited about playing the two, original "real" Metal Gear games. PS: I can't wait until MGS4. |

I diddnt reserve the game and I got the limited edition box set...inside it has the 3 discs from MGS3S, 2 Dvd's included with the box with inside details on how each metal gear was made...A poster with almost every subliminal message thus far about MGS4...And a sneak-peak on MGS4, with an extended look, Hido kojima playing the game describing it, and alot more...
HORRAY! I CAN GET EVERY FACEPAINT WITHOUGHT GETTING THE ICQP ONLINE DOWNLOADS....That was pointless, you can only get 3 face paints, but with substinence...you get every face paint from every country... |

It is defintely worth the purchase, but unless you preordered (did mine a month in advance to make sure) you don't get the bonus DVD with the MGS4 trailer and gameplay movies.
The secret movies are a blast to watch, making fun of Raiden from MGS 2 a bit. And Xeo the MG for NES was a butchered job, if I remember correctly Kojima had nothing to do with it, so the Engrish in game is terrible, yet perfect on the MSX Metal Gear. The NES Snake's Revenge was a slap in the face of Metal Gear, so now for the first time in the U.S. we have the real Metal Gear 2 Solid Snake. This game (MG2SS) pretty much sets the table for Metal Gear Solid on PSX. |

It really adds a new feel to the game...I like to play it as a movie and just screw around...I kinda do things like that...turn videogames into a movie, or like im playing my best over the internet and act like 1000's of people are watching me... *Ahem* I already beat both classic metal gears...Oh yeah...the good ol' days |

So tell me; if I've beaten MGS3 already, and own it, is it worth getting the new one? I would imagine it would be, but my only problem is that I have no monies.
But this is probably the overall best game I've ever played, though I'll probably change my mind later, and I've probably said differently before. It never gets old (though I'm only on my second replay, so I guess I'm not one to say) the characters are great (I like Sigint... he's fun to message...) and its just fun! And its cool! I'm currently in the part where you scale the mountain in order to get to Groznyj Grad. Its hard to do if your trying to not kill anyone, but luckily I've only killed under 10 people, so it won't be that bad if I need to kick some ass. I like the challenge of knocking enemies out and sneaking around. Its what makes the game different from other action games. Plus, sniping in this game is so fun, especially if the guys can't find you XD. |

Yeah, I just picked up my copy today.
Didn't think to pre-order it, sadly I did not get the Limited Editon. I played a bit of the original Metal Gear today. I'm definitely enjoying it a LOT more than the NES version, which was really hard to play. I've already played and beaten MGS3, since I own the first version, I just bought this for the collecting factor, the two original Metal Gear's, and well ... I wanted to go through MGS3 again. |

Sorry to bump this topic, but the game got re-released.
Got my MGS 3S:LE in yesterday, playing it for 15 hours straight to beat the game. It came packaged with the MGS Sga DVD (complete with MGS 4 trailer), plus the original game disc, and a disc with Snake Vs. Monkey missions, a duel mode, online play (first disc), and the 2 MSX Metal Gear games (both faithful ports complete with MSX bootup screen). I've seen LE go on Ebay for between 50 to 200 bucks, I hoped at least some of you guys preordered yours if you wanted LE |

Originally posted by The Fear Well its easier if you lay down a crap load of mousetraps...the more you lay THEM down, the less time it takes for the "T-snake" to be captured. The stealth camo isnt like the ones like in the rest of the MGS series...If your caught, the camp index will be at 90%...so your still visible. But the stealth camo mixed with the moss, mixed with the infinite ammo = No Food, No Ammo, and Never get cought...unless you shoot a gun that is... |

I've got my Subsistence Limited Edition preorder already in, it should come with a bonus DVD as well as the original MSX versions of Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2 playable as well (NES MG was butchered, and NES never saw the true MG 2 Solid Snake game, just a quickly put together false sequel not done by Mr. Hideo Kojima).
To me Kojima seems to not be able to do wrong. |

ive tried to find that damn snake, but its freakin takes for ever to do it, and i dont really have the patience to find it, and id rather have the stealth camo personally, cause its a lot funner, dont you think............ |

The way you capture the tskunoko is simple, find an area to where you cant get any food or medication...Remember the one place where there are land mines as well as electric wiers? Well, using multiple mousetraps enable you to catch one...in fact, thats the only way to catch it...
And then, when your caught by Volgin, escaped, and are trailing to the cave, youll find the snake slithering around nearby a tree near the entrance of the cave where you find Eva...shoot it with a tranqulizer gun and recapture it...beat the game, and Viola`... Spoiler:
Infinite Ammo Facepaint Heres a challange, getting all the kerotans on extreme as well as getting the infinite ammo facepaint...A well deserved reward...personally, My first run, I got the Stealth Camo, the second run I got Tsukinoko...A real bitch |
Banned Posts: 1166/-3459 |
Eff that, just catch the Tsukichinoko or something like that... some fat Snake, of sorts, and stuff...
... Yeah... That snake gives you the secret items. *grin* Good luck there... find some guide to help you out. |
