Well, from what I've seen at metal communities, and other sites (like Metroid Metal), people always say Power Metal, and some other genres are "cheesy" because they sing about fictional things. Medievil times, they act like they're bards, or maybe they're like Manowar and sing about Metal. So people will say they're cheesy because of the lyrics.
Elvenking seems to sing about Vikings, and stuff like that. So I guess for some people out there, they wouldn't like them because they're "cheesy". Honestly I've gotten pretty sick of the grilled cheese arguement. I mean, you could argue every single band out there, no matter what style they play, and what they sing about, is cheesy in some way. So yeah, hopefully that made sense? Edit: But yeah, Elvenking has high pitched lyrics like most Power Metal. But they sometimes have growling, and even female vocals at times. Really there style is pretty good. I think I posted a song in my Metal thread. |

Edit- Sorry if this is off topic...
If you mean "Cheesy" do you mean the crazy high-vocal-singing you hear in most symphony bands? ( Kinda like Symphony X, but uhh....Faster? XD ) Or do you mean cheesy as in....something else? |

More instrumental, and "cheesy" as some would say.
Demons and Wizards is like a remix of Blind Guardian in my opinion... heck, Hansi Kursch (Blind Guardian) even does vocals on some of their albums. Not a bad thing, just saying.  |

Yeah, I'm pretty sure they're Folk Metal. Similar to Elvenking.

What is wintersun? Picture this simple formula together:
Children Of Bodom + Nightwish = This ...Yeah I bought their self-titled CD. My Clanmate on WoW from Finland told me about this band. So he told me to buy it, and If I was dissappointed, he would give me my money back, and promised me I would enjoy it. So go to the link and DL the song "Starchild", Listen to it, and marvel at the greatness of the great Wintersun. Thing I like about their self-titled albulm is that Each song gets better and better. None of the songs I skip, I can actually let the CD play through without having to skip any songs. In other words, This band blows away anything else I have ever heard. To me, Nightwish and Children of Bodom dont even COMPARE to these guys. Oh yeah Im back btw Edit- For some reason, It messed up the link |
